Grapefull Sisters offers everything an outstanding...
Grapefull Sisters offers everything an outstanding winery has: delicious wine, a friendly atmosphere, and plenty of spaces to relax. Driving up to the tasting room, we noticed the idyllic, rustic setting. The grounds were well-kept and offered lots of shaded, grassy areas for an afternoon picnic. Wrapping around the tasting room, the farmhouse front porch provides a wonderful place to sit in a rocking chair or porch swing and sip the day away. If you have a larger group, the tasting room has a screened-in side porch to accommodate you. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Amy and Sheila--southern hospitality at its finest. These sisters own and operate the winery on land which has been in their family for generations so there is truly a sense of deep pride and commitment with these ladies. A picture of their parents is proudly displayed near the tasting bar which gives the visitor a sense how close-knit this family is. We were able to taste all their wines, and they offer something for every taste: dry, semi-dry and sweet wines. This vineyard is unique as they grow muscadines, a grape native to NC, and they grow all their grapes on-site. During our tasting, Amy was so knowledgeable about the health benefits of muscadines and recommended many food-wine pairings for us. They also offer non-alcoholic juices if someone in your party needs that option. After our tasting, we browsed their gift shop. Here we found jams and jellies made locally with local fruit, lots of handcrafted objects, and many on-trend, unique items made by artisans in the area. If you are looking for a laid-back afternoon or just need to escape the busyness of the beach, spend some time here supporting this wonderful, local business.
