The absolute worst service provider ever. I have been stuck for over 40 years with no real alternative. Terrible internet and I was told that fiber has been coming for years but no deal. When there is an obvious issue somewhere they make you pay for the service charge to send someone. This is the very reason why utilities should have competition. They know you can't do anything.

They over charged us for service & then got snippy when we wanted the money paid back. The management in this place have no idea what they're doing & resort to being rude to try and make you go away

At least someone picks up the phone when we call but the internet service absolutely stinks. I have called over 10 times talked back and forth with these people and they never seem to understand the crazy slow internet speeds we get and just make excuses. I even had to take screen shots of internet speed tests I ran to prove to them how bad it is and email them to them. It s been about a week and I have heard nothing back. We get about on average 4mbps which is sooooo slow. As another review said, it s basically like dial up and they call it high-speed internet. We re done and moving on!

I have the fiber optic service and besides having a mishap on billing (was billed for $300 back to back months (first one was accurate; it s the only bill I m responsible to pay since my wife pays the rest of them and kinda forgot ).

I see a lot of reviews about poor internet service but for ~1 year or so of using their fiber optic, we ve been very happy. We use Hulu, Netflix, and I m a big gamer/streamer and have never had any issues.

I would have no issues recommending them to anyone. Also customer service is always very nice and friendly.

Update: 4/8

Since quarantine, 4 of us on the internet is too much for the lowest plan (25 mg s). We moved up to 100download and 100 upload.

Still very happy

So we have only been a customer for the past 6 years. Internet has always been an issue for us in Dunbarton. Now that fiber has arrived both voice and data could not be better. Thank you for the great customer service over the many years that we struggled with DSL.

Nothing about our internet has ever worked and GCC is a monopoly...no other choices on Windsor Rd in Hillsboro and for what we get the bills are outrageous. We have struggled to run a business, cannot count on the system to watch a movie without cutting in and out and every time I call to complain all I get is you can upgrade to anew router or faster speed but none of that has worked.

There should be enough people on this road to cover the cost of some modernization/upgrades to GSC equipment. It has been like that for the last 12 years.

Terrible slow and internet terrible. Would not recommend it ever. Plus pay for secure it and used it once after many years and they charged me $35 and didn't fix anything Haven't got back to me as to why I was charged I am waiting but paid the bill less $35

Spoke with Kate from customer service today and she was very friendly and helpful with upgrading our service speed to 14meg. This isn't the best speed but we are thankful they provide service to our rural area. Outages aren't frequent and never have they lasted more than 6 hours, and usually are resolved in minutes. I know the customer density isn't the best in our area, but I still think prices could come down by %20.

It is going to be absolutely key that they implement fiber optics infrastructure rapidly in the next couple years.

It'a a decent service, but why doesn't it include IPv6? Most places I know have had IPv6 for a long time, but sadly this provider is IPv4 only. Hopefully somebody listens and adds IPv6, as IPv4 address space is almost completely exhausted.

22/Mar/19 - Today we got fiber internet installed in our home. It appears that Granite State does seem to value public perception. In the lower paragraphs is a review of my prior experience with this company. However, I would like to make it clear, they do seem to be trying and I am pleased to this point. The technician arrived when promised, was clean with all work being done, and was friendly. That was a step in the right direction! He even took the time to set up our wireless router we bought that never worked with our old internet. That was fantastic seeing in how we spent $200 on it, and we can now benefit from it. If this is a sign of how it will be going forward I ll upgrade my review to 5 , and remove my old review completely.

The most consistent thing about Granite State Communications is the bill. I m really not surprised this place doesn t have a Yelp, better for them to remain inaccessible. Internet is just plain useless, if you work from home, forget having a reliable connection. If after working all day, and you haven t pulled your hair out from the Internet going in and out constantly, forget streaming Netflix or Hulu to relax. I would seriously consider making sure this company doesn t serve any area you consider moving too. The customer service reps read from a script, and the techs unfortunately haven t been able to do much more. Honestly, I thought Xfinity was pricey, but it just worked, was fast, and reliable. I miss Xfinity.............

4/July/18 - edit - Thanks for a response GSC, however your internet is no good and valueless for what is charged. We live off Windsor Rd in Hillsboro. ALL OF US HAVE ISSUES WITH YOUR INTERNET! It s insulting to constantly blame paying customers for a severely out of date internet provider. The ones of us that know each other out here agree, GSC is robbing us, end of story! It s funny how GSC constantly denies outages, but all of our surrounding neighbors experience the same issue! If you want to make it right GSC update the network over here . Is that clear enough?!? Stop blaming customers for problems with the antiquated service you charge a premium for!

Another Edit for 4/July/18 - GSC YOUR AFTER HOURS SERVICE CONFIRMS THE SERVICE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT. They didn t give us a scripted run around, or blame us for too many devices. Either make your Network right that we All pay a premium for or sell it to a company that can manage it, and provide what customers pay for!

Worst company I ve ever had for phone and internet. Internet is down so often that it s something we expect, which is really stupid. It also takes a long time for service to be fixed when there is an issue. Over a day to fix the internet when the phone and electricity is up and running.

See the review by Donnie Brasco below. We live in the same neighborhood and experience everything he describes. I confirm that our neighbors do as well. Seems around the time of the 'upgrade' a number of months back it got worse. We called and tried all that they suggested and absolutely no difference. We have since found out that everyone gets the same suggestions with no success.

The customer service people have always answered the phone and are extremely pleasant and try to be helpful, BUT if in the end nothing gets better with the service - which is what we are paying for - does the customer service really matter?

And hope you never have to resolve mistakes on multiple month bills with them as it can take hours and it is unlikely to be resolved the first time. Both times it has happened to us it has taken multiple calls and a few hours going through the correct calculations and then to followup and followup to make sure I got the correct credits.

Worst internet ever.... 2mgps download and not even 1mgps with upload. We always call and tell them our internet is really slow and they always have us run their speed test and tell us they will look into it further but it never gets better and they never contact us back. The most they have done is given us a "bandwith boost" for extra money, or had us BUY a new router from them. Still doesn't do anything. Internet is slow as hell. Will never use them again and I feel really sorry for anyone who does have them

I am so upset and disappointed in this internet service. One minute it is at 10-12 Mbps and the next minute it will drop to 0 Mbps. I work from home and I am about to get fired from my job because this internet is so unreliable. We have called several times. They are rude and always try to convince us that it is NOT THEM, when clearly it IS. I have had them tell me about the different things I had open such as Instagram and Facebook, as if THAT is what is slowing down our speed. Basically, according to them, the internet will work perfectly if you are not actually USING it. So frustrated.

*In response I d like to add that the initial, basic internet did not work well so we had a technician come out and he convinced me to upgrade to the dual-band, MORE EXPENSIVE router in the hopes that it would provide a better, reliable internet for me. Especially since my job depends on it.

In all fairness, the internet was working fairly well for about 2 months, then our service was mistakenly SHUT OFF. Called in and got THAT all sorted out. Ever since the service was restored, the internet has been junk. We don t know why or what happened, but now it is terribly wonky.

We called in and the representative was trying to blame us for why the internet was working poorly. As if running Instagram and Facebook accounts for such a slow speed. We requested a technician and was thentold that WE would be charged extra if the technician didn t find any fault. Not sure how that is great customer care, but okay.

Technician came out, sat there for amount 10 minutes, said everything looked good (of course it did), said he updated our firmware on the router and guess what? Still junk. Before my shift, I shut EVERYTHING but my computer down. I unplug any devices that could potentially be connected to the internet, I reset my router, restart my computer and my speed still drops to 0 Mbps download every few minutes. Overall, your service has cost me more grief than it s worth and it s not cheap either.

Bottom line, if you rely on internet or your job, you will be extremely frustrated and disappointed.

This internet brings be back to the late 90s....what a fun time. And who didnt love dial up am I right? Waiting all day for a connection and when u get it its about as fast as your great grand mother...fun tines. In other words...pretty much the worst internet ever. Granted, I'm near the end of the line...but I'm lucky if I get 1 meg upload....think we pay for at least five times that. Of course whenever we call, which is several times a week, there's always an outage or some other system flaw that stems from them not replacing their equipment and lines. I've worked for several providers over the years...time warner, hughesnet, mostly DTV, and if we EVER used faulty refurbished equipment or didn't run new lines if need be, wed be fired for causing this many svc issues. I understand some companies are cheap but come on guys....you're a joke. And if I had line if sight for hughesnet I'd get it in a heartbeat...and hughesnet sucks....
