Awful, terrible, scarring experience. Multiple staff and property failures led to my wife and I to bail, regardless it was our wedding anniversary. This hotel is an industrial tourist trap, with horrible FO standards, uncaring guest services and mechanical, not-monitored-by-humans "marketing automation" systems. NYC is spoilt for choice for excellent actual hotels. This battery hen facility? Avoid.

Grand Hyatt has become like the airlines who kick you off despite having a reservation. My family and I arrived at the hotel only to discover that we did not have a room with 2 double beds even though we had a confirmed reservation. They wanted to give us a room with a king bed and a pull out despite not allowing this type of reservation for 4 people. What a nightmare!

Excellent place to grab drinks after work. I am from NY so i have never stayed in here but the customer service from the moment you walk through the lobby is excellent. I love coming here for happy hour/ after work drinks. I do wish they had a special though as drinks are pricey. Bartenders are excellent (they know how to make drinks correctly) and there are employees who work around (not servers/ but just employees) that make sure you are having a good time and everything is going well.

Beautiful lobby, it's a little confusing getting to ballroom elevators as there are multiple levels to the lobby but everything was very clean and expensive looking. I was there for a graduate student orientation and it served the purpose well. A huge balloon for 3,000 people and smaller rooms for 25-50 people. The desserts and food were pretty good considering. And the bathroom was really nice, everything was clean and the staff were very helpful.

As a Hyatt World member and staying at the Grand Hyatt at least once a month, it is awful that no one is at the checkin counter for 10mins. Multiple employees walked back and forth behind the counter and not one engaged any customer.

Main asset is the location. As for the hotel it is a 2 star French. Friendly and helpful staff. Double room with 2 beds in 140cm it is better not to be too strong. Null bedding. Much too soft. If you want to read you need at least 3 cushions. Air conditioning makes a noise not possible at night. It is better to extinguish it. The bathroom is very small. There is no storage for 4. Housekeeping is very fast. You must not be too much looking. To avoid there must be much better for the same price.

The bathroom was so tiny. The vanity was right on top of the toilet, so close that any one bigger than 5'6 or a size 8 would be majorly cramped. The shower curtain was to short for the tub and when I told the hotel about it they acted like they could care less. The lobby coffee shop was way over priced even for NYC standards. I was there for a conference and most of the escalators didn't work. Unless you are attending an even in the hotel, or have some allegiance to Hyatt I would find another hotel to stay in.

We were invited guest of a guest staying at The Grand Hyatt. We stayed in the Hyatt Regency Club for a few hours waiting on our overseas flight. Pierre took extremely good care of us as we waited on our departure. He went over and above his duties in making us feel quite special. We highly recommend this hotel and will defiantly stay here on our next trip to New York! First class in every way! Thanks Pierre and Hyatt!!

The rooms are no longer state of the art and in some cases very worn or dirty. The mass processing of the arriving guests takes place in the lobby. Far too little staff for too many guests. The friendliness of the staff also left a lot to be desired ...

I would never stay at this hotel again. I arrived in town for a business event which was being held at the hotel.

Upon check in I was given a room with only a sofa bed. I asked where I could pick up a package that had been shipped to the hotel and was informed that I would have a message on the phone in my room regarding how to pick it up. The size of the room was fairly large (approximately 800 square feet) and I could have lived with the sofa bed if that had been the only problem. However, there was no message waiting for me explaining how to pick up my package. My tracking number confirmed that the package had been delivered so I called the front desk and they transferred me to the mail room. No one picked up the phone and I left a message with my name and room number. I waited for an hour with no return call. By this point I went back down to the front desk to speak to someone in person. It was at this point I was informed I could just go to the mailroom and pick up my package. Once the mail room found my package it was left with me to get back to my room. Normally I would have asked for help getting it back up to my room considering it was a very large package and weighed 32 pounds, however, I was already late for an appointment at this point and decided not to wait for any assistance to show up.

Upon returning to my room later that evening I discovered stains all over the carpet. What initially drew my attention were numerous dark brown stains that looked like mud. Upon closer inspection I also noticed bright red drip stains on the same carpet. It was fairly clear that the room had not been cleaned.

The last straw was the vibration in the ceiling. A vibration in the ceiling caused a fire sprinkler which was not properly secured to rattle continuously for over two hours. I called the front desk and someone was sent up to look at the problem. I was told that it was just water moving in the pipes causing the noise. I asked to be moved to another room but the hotel refused stating they were sold out. A manager came up to take a look but by that point the noise had stopped. Then shortly thereafter the noise resumed. I went down to the front desk and again asked to be moved to another room. Instead they said they would send another person to take a look. But it was at this point that I was informed that I was on the top floor of the hotel and the only thing above my room was the fitness center. I knew exactly what was causing the noise now. Someone running on a treadmill above was causing the vibration thus causing the inconsistent rattle. The maintenance guy came up to take a look but couldn't do anything. Once again I asked to be reassigned to a different room. The front desk called me back saying they couldn't change my room but I would get half off my rate. This was not satisfactory to me but I couldn't do much since they refused to change my room. I didn't sleep very well but when I did fall asleep I ended up missing my alarm the next morning because the rattle deafened all other sound.

The next day I checked into another hotel for half the price and was greeted with helpful staff, an actual bed, a clean room with a great view and no rattle. Do not stay at the Grand Hyatt. Their customer service is horrible. I ended up getting a free nights stay in reward points but I will not be using it as I now refuse to visit any Hyatt. I have never had a worse experience at any other hotel chain.

Is it a 3 or 4 rating? Hotel is in a great location. Grand Central has plenty of shops and ofcourse train and subway connections. Like the grand entrance. On the downside this is a mass market place. Try using elevators at peak times and you re in for a wait. Gym is nice but gets really busy. No real lounge / coffee shop and the only public area which serves drinks is a bit industrial. Worst bit? Not only is the bathroom small but you don t get shower gel! A Grand Hyatt hotel only offers sticky soap is a poor poor show. Add onto this no mini bar and get your water yourself and then you get the idea of a pack em in and get em out approach. I do keep returning however and either bring my own shower gel or buy one from across the road. Can t believe this is the case for such a Grand hotel! Stay if you want a good bed, convenient location and Hyatt points; stay away if you need basic amenities, luxury and haven t bargained for a packaged holiday.

Staff was very friendly. The rooms were terrible. Mold on the shower curtains, our phone had no dial tone so we couldn t call out, and it was very hot in our rooms. We had to go downstairs to ask them to fix the AC. They came twice with no luck. Their 3rd attempt was to give us a loud box fan. For the price I paid for 4 nights for this 4 Star Manhattan hotel was ridiculous. I ve stayed in nicer places for way less money. This was last week.

The Grand Hyatt is one of the largest & most booked conference hotels in the city so it's almost possible to avoid if your job requires you occasionally attending large events. It is ugly, dark, and inordinately confusing.

Nice place to stay at. Location, location, location. Central to everything plus right next to Grand Central Station. Rooms were very nice and the lounge was a good place to hang out before a night on the town.

I was torn between a 3 star and 4 star. The hotel...

I was torn between a 3 star and 4 star. The hotel decor is very modern and the fitness center is 5 STAR . My group members each received a complementary water bottle or cup of coffee each morning from the Starbucks down stairs which was great. The reason I gave it a 3 star review is because of the room- which is really important. First off, the lighting is RIDICULOUS. They have these "green" energy saving lighting which is a nice thought but that meant they had no soft mood lighting so the lights either had to be fully on or fully off. BTW, the bathroom lights are connected to the room lights so if you turned off the room lights, the bathroom lights went as well. It became a fun, cruel joke to turn the lights off one girl who was in the shower. Second, One girl and I shared a bed the entire trip and she hogged ALL the blankets. Another girl liked the room to be the same temperature as the arctic and the bedding is not thick- paper thin- so I requested another comforter to sleep with= I get the whole blanket and I didn't have to freeze my butt off. The staff wouldn't go get the blanket and let me bring it up. They wanted me to go back to my room and they would bring it up. It took an hour. I was on edge for an hour, waiting for them to bring it up. Mind y'all, we had dinner plans for that night. I needed a shower. I had to wait so that they didn't think I didn't want the blanket. It was not fun. Third, we requested that the cleaning staff did not come. A room full of girls for a week resulted in a messy room, especially when two of the three girls were pigs. They weren't going to pick up their stuff every morning off the floor and I didn't want them to take my extra blanket and make me go through the whole process of getting it back. No cleaning= comfort. The cleaning staff did not get that. They pestered every damn day. Eventually we just left the Do Not Disturb on the door, but that did not stop them from pouncing on us in the hallway as we left. Otherwise it was an okay stay.

They have been responsive to our requests. Typical of upscale hotels, the convenience amenities were minimal to start with. We appreciated fridge I the room, but there was no coffee or tea, and no way to save towels in effort to save energy or water.

Do not bother staying here!!! Awful awful awful experience at this Hyatt. As other guests mentioned below, we weren t allowed to check in to our room until EIGHT PM. Check in time is 4pm. Staff and manager on duty did not seem to care that we had spent the evening walking around in the rain with nowhere to go... they were very rude and condescending. There was trash EVERYWHERE- people left dirty dishes outside their room, and cleaning staff left it there overnight. There was a broken beer bottle on the escalator - and banana peels just lying around. The next day, we returned home to our room around 6PM to find the cleaning staff hadn t cleaned our room. We had no clean towels, shampoo or soap to take a shower with. There was no coffee, the fridge didn t work, and neither did the phone! Absolutely horrendous hotel with dirty rooms and snobby staff. Would give it zero stars if I could.

The room was nice and clean. There isn't much of a view from the room that we had, and were told that not many do at this hotel due to the tall buildings surrounding it. However the location is very good, close to most of the things you'd want to see I midtown and almost everything was within walking distance and grand central station is right by it.

Room was nice with a modern design and feel. Bed was comfy and the noise from the city wasn't too bad. Was given a $15 desitination credit to use in the hotel markeplace but didn't know it was meant to be used on the day I arrived. Luckily they were able to apply it for breakfast the following morning.

Fancy looking. Great location. But service is horrible and you even have to buy water. They even charge for holding luggage when other hotels in same area is free. No free breakfast. We knew that but we though the hotel and service would make up for it. We were disappointed.

The main entrance/lobby is very big and has many seats and looks wonderful. The line for check-in is usually long, most busy in the morning. The rooms themselves aren t very big. If you want a great view, you ll want a room facing northeast. The rooms aren t too clean. The hotel room bathroom is very small. A room consists of: a TV, a refrigerator, a couch, a desk stand, two beds, a closet, sink, toilet, shower, cups, plates, and other little things. I d say this hotel is not worth it s price.

Would give it 5 stars but the shelf above the sink was incredibly frustrating. Couldn't see it the faucet handles, could lean down to wet my hair and overall detracted from the experience. Everything else was 5 star

If you want a hotel in the middle of the action in NYC this is the place. Very close to both Grand Central and Times Square. The rooms are small but well appointed. The service is fine. Please keep in mind this place is usually packed, so don't expect a cozy atmosphere. Lastly, the food here is quite expensive. I recommend sampling the local cuisine.

Hotel is well situated, next to grand Central and the heart of Manhattan. The room was clean and confortable as well as quiet (the mattress was great and this comes from someone who has back pain and picky about bedding).

The check in was very slow however for such a hotel and would benefit from more staff. The concierge service was fantastic. Overall, this is a good choice for a quick and confortable stay.

Beautiful hotel in downtown Manhattan, located right next to the central station (you can access it directly from the hotel) a few minutes walk from Briant Park, 5th Avenue and times Square.
Very friendly and super efficient staff.
Large rooms with queen size beds and sweeping skyscrapers views.
Large and well equipped conference rooms.
In the lobby you can find a market and Starbucks.

Love the location of the Grand Hyatt - it's easy to walk to Times Square and Broadway theater and with Grand Central right underneath, you can get anywhere you need to go quickly. The room is very comfortable, although I wish there was a full length mirror in it. The breakfast in the Grand Club was plentiful and delicious.
