Little Tibet, a pity that by now is an indispensable destination for hundreds of motorcyclists who, on holidays, whiz more glued with their eyes to the asphalt than to the tops of the mountains. Silences that speak to the heart flee and this place loses much of its magic.

Wonderful landscape .. I can only recommend it. Somehow I had the feeling where to be different than in Italy. It had something magical ... you will understand what I mean when you go there ...

Little Tibet as Fosco Maraini called it, so Campo Imperatore appears to those who visit it. I've been here for thirty years, all year long. The place is beautiful, it deserves more enhancement, more services for tourists.

Frequented yes, but it remains quite naturalistic, you can spend a wonderful day taking a bath in the lake and eating something, remembering to throw your waste in the bins that are present.

Each time it is a unique experience, the charm of the Gran Sasso is eternal, there are many easy paths for children too.
I recommend a nice trek with climb to the Franchetti refuge, obviously in the summer or alternatively the Rio Arno waterfalls, both accessible from the tivo meadows.

The 'little Tibet' will satisfy every need: warm during the day and fresh in the evening, excellent food (the best kebabs eaten in Abruzzo) and good wine, partying companies, galloping horses, pleasant walks on the surrounding mountains. Nothing is missing !!

Skilifts closed. You cannot ski here as use to be. The place look abandoned. It is a shame, as most of those people who lives and works there have been trying their best to keep this magnificent place alive! It use to be a place better than a 5 stars luxury but my disappointment doesn't allows me to give more than one star.

Beautiful nature still rough and impervious at times.
The mountains still laden with snow made the words "Gran Sassod'Italia, Monti della Laga" very effective.
The tunnel of the Gran Sasso is imposing, but fast and flowing, and finding inside it the access to our CNR, with its human excellences, knowing it down there in the bowels of the mountain, makes it even bigger.
And then the Eagle ... reborn. The smell of cement fills the air. Everywhere construction sites, workers, cranes, scaffolding, and construction noise ....
Hidden streets, caged buildings ..... what a wound

The highest peak in the Apennines and highest in central Italy. Too bad that the municipality of Assergi wants to squeeze tourists by forcing them to change areas, from Rome they are 15 on the highway, plus more money to park in Campo Imperatore, plus gasoline and another 15 on the highway (the most expensive in Italy) to return to Rome.

Wonderful place! Too bad for the road and the complete abandonment by the institutions. If there was more presence of the state and better possibilities for tourist exploitation, it would be a paradise.

Besides the marvelous landscape and a fantastic place where you can make excursions for every type of physical preparation, it also offers a refuge that offers meat cheeses and every kind of typical Abruzzo products with the possibility of also having barbecues and charcoal available ready to cook what better like. Absolutely to try just half an hour from the Assergi motorway exit towards Teramo.
