The BEST customer service! Family friendly! Thank you so much!
I've been here about 4-5 times to see a movie. It's great if you have little kids due to the noise only being limited to your car. The screen is clear and the people that work here are very friendly. The concession prices are better than sit in Movie theaters. Go here and experience movie watching at it's finest.
It was such a class experience I really enjoyed it hope to do it again. My girlfriend love it to, so I'll hope bring here and friends to experience the fun we had again.
We had such a great time here last night. Mr. John was so kind to my girls and I. Everyone was so friendly and made our first Drive-in theater an amazing experience. My girls loved the popcorn!
Much more enjoyable than a theater. Prices are reasonable.
High quality picture, good food. Friendly staff. Enjoyed myself.
Always a blast. Great venue, great food, great service. Even the dog had a good time. We will be back!
Great place for a movie with fair priced concessions. Run by very friendly people. I'm really impressed with how clean they keep everything.
Great fun but a double feature will have you home by 2 am or later. Kind of hard to do with kids. Food is decent and priced fairly. Also a good variety as well.
It was awesome, great place to spend an evening, am definitely going again.
Great atmosphere, clean facilities, and helpful staff! A drive in is the only way to go see a movie... especially with children! Met the owner, and the guy was great, I saw him work a deal with the car in front of us to get them to put their hatch down so we could see better even after I told him it was no big deal.. can't beat that! Go.. it is great!
Just went to see Thor Ragnarok. Prices are right, the screen is awesome, and their staff is on top of things. The parking is well regulated to keep other cars from blocking you and the parking lot itself is graded in a step pattern.
Cool place to watch movie, not so cool place to eat everything I ordered came out cold
A great deal for family fun and entertainment. There concessions are bar nun the best around and the price is very good and you are treated as if you were part of the GDIT family. Thanks for your great place James Adkins
Love this place! You can't beat the price of admission or concessions! Definitely do your best to arrive around gate opening time - this will get you great parking for the show, most nights. The staff are all helpful and friendly, and the grounds are kid and pet friendly. I appreciate that they have specific smoking/vaping areas, and that it's not allowed elsewhere. The bathrooms are always clean and stocked, another perk!
Love going to this drive-in. Can eat and see two movies on the weekend for less than admission to one movie anywhere else in the area.
We have enjoyed this spot many times with the kids. We tried to go with our new jeep wrangler and we were sent to the back of the lot with the pick-up trucks and very large vehicles that were at least 5-6 inches taller. We couldn't see from behind the pick up trucks, because most people sit in lawn chairs in the bed of their trucks. Which is completely understandable but when I tried to move to the spots with the minivans which were my height I was told that I had to move. The man never considered how far I just had to drive or the fact that I had to wait in line almost an hour just to get in. He tried to bully me into moving and when I said that I wanted a refund to leave he said that was fine they were going to sell out anyway. I offered to pull forward and drop the back of the jeep down and even asked to speak to a manager. He said no to both. Most people don't live close to this place so I would really reconsider driving all that way and waiting, only to be treated disrespectfully. There is more to seeing the movies than how cheap a place is
My first drive-in experience. It was awesome. Fresh air and a movie. Who could ask for more. People were on top of cars or on chairs, we opened the back of our Land Rover. Sahweeet!
The most affordable best thing to do with the kids on the weekend around Richmond. The food is very affordable as well.
Parking is unorganized and you cant run your ac so its hot. Still fun for the family
First time ever and I loved it, definitely will be going again...well worth it
Best theater ever!!!! I love the old time feel. They handle serving people and tickets very well!!! However we were told that each car was going to be spaced a car length apart but when we parked 2 people parked on either side and we were told to move. Other than that it was great! I hope this theater stays in business forever!
A must visit! Food and admission prices can't be beat compared to a normal theater, the staff are incredibly nice and friendly, and the owner is fantastic. The owner will walk around to check on visitors and any time there's an issue hes always accommodating to try and make things right. Perfect place for dates or family outings.
The Goochland Drive-in Movie is one of my favorite places to go have a good time. Their price for admission simply can't be beat! You get a lot a bang for your buck! They have a very friendly staff, especially their security team and they go out of their way to make their customers feel safe and comfortable. Their concession stand offers a good variety of food and drinks. They usually offer a double feature on the main screen or you watch a movie on the Grove, which is a second screen behind the concession stand. Each screen offers a different set of movies, so make sure you decide which movies you want to see before getting there. Check the listings on their website. And you cannot park your car on the Grove because it is a grassy area. You have to either sit on a lawn chair or lay a blanket on the ground like a picnic. I took my family to see the Avengers Infinity:Endgame which was three hours long so this the only feature. Watching a movie at the Goochland Drive In is a wonderful experience. Bring your family and friends, you won't be disappointed!
Love this place! Super friendly staff. Low prices and very family friendly. They even show retro commercials before the movies and have a playground for kids. They will help you time down your hatch so it doesn't block the screen and will even jump your car if your battery dies. Highly recommend this awesome place. Hopefully it will be around for years to come.
Went here for the first time with some friends and it was a really fun experience. I wouldn't recommend it for movies that have a lot of CGI or are really visually stunning as it won't really be as good as if you were watching it in a theater. But, if you're looking for a nice night out and want to see a couple of movies their double showing is worth it and their food/snacks are really affordable.
Just make sure you show up extra early so you can snag a good spot and bring some camping chairs/bug spray!
The kids love the drive in they hate going anywhere else now! I highly recommed them
Very cool experience and unique for our area. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Prices are very reasonable. Only frustration was delay in starting movie especially because supposed to be triple header - just too late starting for that to be remotely possible. Overall very cool experience for family.
Always a lovely trip. And the staff are always kind and helpful.
Nice place! Everything is very organized and clean.
The drive in is a wonderful experience. They take a lot of effort to make it a great place. Staff is plentiful and helpful.
I can t believe that I have yet to review my favorite place!! I have a movie theater about 10 mins from my house, but instead (even pre-COVID) I drive 45 mins just to come here. The people that work here are truly the nicest people that I ve ever met & that s what keeps me coming back every time!! It is so fun & affordable & I pray that they stay open long enough for my future children to experience a place like this!
If you are looking to get out of the house during quarantine, this the place. The food is great & they have an amazing variety of concessions & movies. The staff are all very helpful & have obviously been taught well in customer service. If I could give 10 stars, I would.
Great family experience in their outdoor Grove. It's a lawn theater that TOTALLY inspires 10 and unders to run around like kids in a park, and older ones to gather and throw a ball/frisbee around.
We took our four young kids (2, 3, 5, and 7 yrs) to a single feature and dinner, and it was a fantastic summer memory moment. With the perfect weather, we lounged on the well-kept green lawn watching the 4 of them make friends as the summer sun slid down to the horizon, romp and play chase/tag games, kick a soccer ball around, play giant Connect 4, and fall down in the grass together laughing. I wish they found this much comraderie with kids in our isolated, suburban neighborhood.
The food is fine, the prices are fine too.
The playground is great for 6/7 and under.
It was a great time, we look forward to another family appropriate showing so that we can return.
Favorite place to spend my weekend. Great movie, friendly atmosphere and great food at great prices.
Fantastic! We like to bring chairs and a boom box and sit outside the vehicle to watch the movies. We like the front row, but any place is fine. The screen is HD so it's clear from anywhere. They have super cheap food, a great play area for the kids, corn hole and tether ball, and sometimes a band. Now just add a Pickleball court! It's a really unique atmosphere and it's addictive!
Great family night out. We take the kids here a couple of times per summer and everyone has a great time. Tickets are reasonable, concessions are cheap, they have a playground for the kids to keep them busy before the movie starts. Can't ask for more (well if they could move a little closer to Richmond but that's just getting picky).
ALWAYS A NICE PLACE TO SPEND THE EVENING WITH YOUR FAMILY.
Fun summer evening. Great for kids. Good movies. The goochdog is fun. I also learned that it is hard to eat nachos in a pitch dark car.
GREAT place to take your family and watch a movie. Sometimes 2 great movies for the price of 1. Food is great and very reasonably priced. You should try the Goochland Dog if you are looking for something different. The chicken tenders are made from real chicken qnd not processed junk. If you keep your drink cup, refills are only a dollar! Corndogs are okay, I just perfer my corndog a little more crispy.
There is a playground for kids to play and an icecream stand with softserve vanilla, chocolate and twist. You can also add sprinkles.
The best movie-going experience in Central VA. Friendly staff, good times.
You must plan to arrive early as this place usually fills fast. Good food at regular prices too.
Oh my gosh! What a great place! We came with our elementary school aged children and we had a blast. The kids loved being outside, loved the huge theater, loved the food. It was great! What a great way to spend an evening outside with your family. And we were so impressed with peoples set ups in their cars with blankets and pillows! We'll be back!
Loved it here, movie was great ice cream was wonderful.
First time there and it was amazing will differently be back
Awesome drive in movie theater, the main drive in screen has tons of parking and the smaller lawn screen is good as well.
Movie tickets are a great price and concessions are what you would normally expect from a movie theater.
Amazing experience! A tip about the food: portions are LARGE. We got an order of chicken nuggets and tater tots for each of our children (5 y/o and 4 y/o) and they didn't even finish 1 order. Seriously large portions. Prices are awesome. Nowhere near what you would pay in a theater. Movie had great clarity, as did the radio station, which isn't always the case at drive ins. Highly recommend this place.
Nice customer service, kids loved the play ground and play area in the Grove. Food was good. And awesome experience. Thank you. For all you do. God bless!
Family business running as well as they can. Some luck and successful aspects equate to a quait experience.
A wonderful and pleasant time, plenty of open space, great food, and a nice catering to nostalgia.
Great experience and very organized! You can literally see the stars as you watch the movie! They have concessions on site (the Gooch Dog was my favorite - hot dog topped with mac and cheese!). They also have a small playground area for kids. Perfect for families or a casual date night.
Wonderful place! Very kind and polite staff. Will be visiting again, many times!
First time at a drive in! Private event for the holidays, screened: Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Elf
Concessions were affordable and tasty. Staff was helpful.
There were a couple of technical difficulties with the films freezing during playback but they were quickly resolved.
Great family fun!
I enjoyed my 1st drive in movie experience. The parking lot should have been made to slope so you could see over vehicles. I do believe the sound could be enhanced for those opting not to sit in their vehicles because of their inability to see the screen. Otherwise, we were able to move our family of 6 to a more open area and borrow a speaker from the staff that made the movie awesome!! Thank you!
Great place clean friendly staff fun place playground for the kids when open.
The arrangement is good, two movies for $8.50 per adult and $4.00 for child are good. It is a steal to get two movies in a biiiiiiiiig screen for a below nominal fee of $8.50 for an adult. Ambience was awesome. Have some blankets as the night weather could get chilly sometimes. Be prepared to stay late as the movies can run until 1-1:15 am. I would love to go back again and again.
We love it. Fantastic customer service. The staff is very friendly. Seems to be a local family owned business focused on providing a family friendly experience. The prices are really reasonable. We almost never see movies anywhere else.
We have been coming her for the past 4yrs and we absolutely love it. The owner and staff are very friendly and courteous. Great place to bring your family.
Your Friends the Zombie Response Team :)
Wonderful old-timey movie experience. Great for COVID-era activities.
Goochland Drive-in Theater has always been a favorite of ours! We started visiting there several years ago and the atmosphere is great! The team there is always friendly and helpful. My son has food allergies and they offer a menu that includes gluten-free options, which is a big bonus for us. Also, their prices are very reasonable. There is a playground area for the younger kids to play and there's always people playing board games, kids getting together and throwing footballs, etc. My kids make friends everytime they go :) On some occasions we even take our Labradoodle to the movies with us, which my daughter loves!
On our most recent visit my daughter had recently had surgery and they were very accommodating making some small adjustments to her food order - which was very appreciated. I had a nice conversation with John and talking with him made me realize I'd never done a review. So, this review is long overdue, but I hope the GDIT gets all the credit they are due - GREAT JOB, everyone! Keep up the good work :)
Awesome place. Food as expected from a drive in and great staff.
Love the Goochland! Bring the kids; bring the dogs. Can make for a late night with a double feature and 9:15 PM sundown, but always a blast.
Great family atmosphere. Very reasonably priced all around. Wish parents were a little more attentive to their kids in the playground but that's my only gripe about the place.
We have been coming here it first open....Richmond's area best kept secret...A place I feel like I grew up in the 80's and I feel like I am at home away from home. This place is great, clean, and fun for the family with the playground....Highly recommend for a family night out...I couldn't say more. Pleas support local small business for years to come so many families can enjoy, plus to keep prices reasonable.
Very spacious and the workers are very friendly. The prices are also good
