Food was great but I didn t get any of my sides that I ordered. The workers sat there and argued with me instead of making it right. The workers acted like they didn t even care and rushed me through the line.
Had the Burnt Ends and Brisketsandwich and some fries. Meat was not overly sauced so you could dress it as you preferred. Cooked well and a nice amount of smoke. Exactly what down home cooking is all about. Service was excellent as well. Will def be back next time we are in town.
I have finally found my favorite barbecue sauce. I have tasted all types of BBQ around the country, from mustard based Carolina style to tomato based elsewhere. Arthur Bryant's original BBQ sauce is unique in its perfect blend of everything, the texture itself is even interesting and satisfying.
Over 2800 reviews, I get it; this place is a classic. It was also dirty, the service, such as it is, was terrible. The sandwiches are absolutely one of a kind, and I think you could have any of the meats, and they would be good. The BBQ sauce was really unique and good. But my fries were cold and gross, and I did really know the code when I walked up to order, and the people taking orders were barely communicative, there is a bunch of yelling involved. I didn't really get it. My wife and I both almost slipped on the dirty floor. You really should go, but be ready for an adventure.
When you walk in the door, you're greeted by friendly staff and a nice film of grease lining the floor. You slide in and order based on the recommendations of the guy behind the counter. Food arrives and you are pleasantly surprised by some of the most AMAZING BBQ you've ever had. It looked a little sketchy from the outside, but I'm so glad I went in. So much better than any other KC BBQ I've had.
Atmosphere is fun and food is absolutely incredible. Fantastic BBQ. Also place smells great (BBQ smoky) and makes you hungry even before you walk in the door.

What happened? This place was amazing back in the day, but I went yesterday and it was terrible....no smoke ring on brisket...very little flavor. The pulled pork came pre-sauced ..ie, the pork was sinking in a tub of bad sauce....never going back

We had the opportunity to eat here in Kansas City during our KC BBQ tour. Ribs and cole slaw are to die for! I was never a fan of ribs without bbq sauce, but I'm a huge fan of Bryants!!
I am from out of state and wanted some good bbq. I was taken there and was very disappointed. I spent almost $40 and am still waiting on some good bbq. I will never Go back if I am ever back in KC.

Arthur Bryant's has been around for years and for good reason, excellent BBQ. We had the pig in a blanket, pulled pork, Cole slaw on a soft bun. The meat was fork tender and well smoked. AB has three sauces to appeal to any taste and all complimented the meat so well. The French fries were sinfully good, soft, deep fried and irresistible.
The bbq was really good but the sauces really made the meal.
The line will be long but it moves fast. Good food but you might want to have some gates sauce

The beef (sliced brisket) is better if you allow them to include the point as well as the flat. The flat is more lean, but the fat in the point brings the flavor (pay attention BBQ secret) don't cheat yourself don't ask for lean.
The fries are the best. The only sauce I like is the original. I have heard it is a version of Perry's sauce the original KC BBQ maven.
Nasty, and overrated. We drove from Texas to see the K- State game and everyone said go to Arthur Bryant's. How are you going to open at 11am and we get there at 11:15am and the food is cold, and you dont have sausages. The Cole slaw was good to me, however too runny for my other family members. The hot sauce is basically Louisiana hot sauce mixed with bbq sauce. Texas bbq run we use is way better.
If you've never been to Kansas City go here. The spare ribs were decent. not sure if the food could ever live up to the hike, but it was very good.

Do to the high rating I wanted to try this place. I'm new to KC and I want to hit up all the best food places. I was really hoping for more. Ingot the brisket and burnt ends with onion rings. The onion rings were great, the brisket was very tender but could use some more seasoning. The burnt ends were saturated in some kind of unseasoned sauce and you couldnt even taste the meat. One guy behind the counter was very nice but everyone else just kind of ignores you and almost seems rude. except the cashier, she was rude. The restaurant was extremely cold as well temperature wise. I Was freezing the whole time and it made my food get really cold really fast. Overall if the food was seasoned stronger and the burnt ends had flavor I wouldnt have minded anything else.
This is a bbq "joint". It's been a favorite of ours for over 40 years. Good ribs, good beans, good fries...the trifecta of barbeque. Weekends or game days you can expect to stand in line, but it's well worth the wait.
Wow! Just when you have had all the bbq available here comes old skool with new school flavors. Ive heard all my life about Arthur's but had no idea how original and unique their flavors are and the ribs which might of been a little fatty still for me for i slow cook all the fat off , exploded with flavor and yet the sauce gave it such an incredible flavor all it's own. They will right somgs about this place and sing them around the bbq pit 100's of years from now
Been to Kansas City quite a bit and this place is a go to spot! The place inside is unique and you can tell by the pictures on the wall that some pretty prestigious people have come through their door! Did I say they have goodt barbeque???? Yes, I said GOODT!!!!
Horrible the meat was shredded and dry. I had to ask thir fella 3x for lean and he still have me fatty meat. I never liked that dirty bottom of the pit sauce. I'll stick to jack stack or gates
Way too much food and super expensive. It makes me sad that this place comes up first when you google kc bbq. Its not a good rep of kc bbq. I'll never make this mistake again.

Do not listen to all the naysayers about Arthur Bryant's. I've lived in Kansas City my entire life and we have some of the nicest people in the United States, so I know how rude some people are in other parts of the country. The men and women who work at this establishment may not be the most friendly, but they perform their job well and offer barbecue that is quality. You are simply ordering in a line and paying for it, then sitting down to chow. There's no further interaction with employees. People who say these people are rude are simply too sensitive and ignorant to how hard these people have to work every day, considering the demographic of the area and how busy this place is every day.
Also, it's a BARBECUE restaurant. The establishment isn't supposed to be "classy" or some uptight eatery. The atmosphere of this restaurant when it originated in Kansas City culture still stands today, and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's functionally clean, and I have never had a bad meal there.
I like the fries, the beans are incredible, the sandwiches are always good and the red cream soda is awesome. The helpings are large enough to feed you twice unless you're really hungry.
Lastly, if you don't enjoy Arthur Bryant's Kansas City barbecue, blame it on your own barbecue preferences, not the restaurant. Try something new instead. Oklahoma Joe's is equally as good if you don't like it at Arthur Bryant's, just don't de-face the restaurant because you didn't think it was "perfect".
Baby back ribs were AMAZING and the line was long but didn't take a long time at all service is pleasant and prices aren't too up there . my family had a great time!

We decided to try some barbecue while staying in KC. We went out of our way to go here due to all the good reviews that we heard. The cooks were quick to take you order and get your food to you but the waiting was spent in line to pay. The barbecue was good for the price and a large enough portion. The fries that came with the meal are not worth it. All in all it was a good time.

I really liked the turkey sandwich and potato casserole. My husband liked their sausage and pulled pork but wasn t crazy about the brisket. The people working seemed more interested in getting us through the line although we didn t notice that as much with the locals. I will say that they are very generous with the portions.

Fabulous burnt ends!!! Love love LOVE them! Their new pig on a bun was really great too! Not a fancy place but it's clean & eating is amazing here. We enjoyed looking at & reading all of the history about Arthur Bryant! Incredible!
Great good, huge serving, and still has an old school feel to it. If it was good enough for Obama, it was plenty good enough for me. Didn't disappoint.
Very disappointed after hearing all the hype. The employees are rude, & food is terrible. My husband had the ribs they had a funny chemical smell and taste. Not impressed, don't waste your time or $.
The brisket was good but not that ribs. If you want awesome ribs check out the Woodyard on the Kansas side.
