This is a great place to eat, I would definitely recommend coming here. Me and my future wife came here and we really liked it. I mean the president literally came here to eat. The only thing is that the staff was all about getting as many people through and so I feel like they lost sight of the purpose of the restaurant and it made them a little rude.

We just spent 60 dollars on food because we were so excited to try it. I could actually cry because I m so disgusted and disappointed. Got ribs burnt ends ham and fries. Ribs had zero flavor like none and we re super fatty and greasy. Burn ends weren t burnt ends, ham taste like lunch meat, fries were black and soggy like they sat in sludge. I feel sick after eating. I m so sad that we wasted our money and was hoping for better

Ok.....so.....ribs were good....I'd put mine up against them. Turkey was really good. Sauces were good. Only problem was the ordering process was confusing and they really didn't have any sympathy for first timers. Whatever

Waited 23 minutes for onion rings while others that ordered after me got theirs. Was relatively packed when I went, but staff overall just seemed disinterested and mildly rude towards me. Also floor and bathroom were really gross.

Food was average at best and definitely not worth the unpleasant experience.

Know what you want! When you get to the front of the line, make sure you tell them if you want sauce. We tried their brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and burnt ends. Brisket was smoky and flavored just right. Pork ribs were just right texture as was the pulled pork. The sauce really makes a difference. The burnt ends had great char and the extra bits of fat made it so delicious. Potato salad was ok. Stick with the fries. Beans were not bad. Had pieces of meat which were slightly chewy. Overall, great bbq joint. Be prepared to wait 20 to 30 minutes if line is out the door already. Don't forget the sweet tea!

Pulled pork sandwich, fries, and medium Diet Coke ...

Pulled pork sandwich, fries, and medium Diet Coke was nearly $15. Too much.

Traveled to Kansas City Friday to see the Royals and have a BBQ here after hearing all the buzz by foodies. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich at the Brooklyn Ave original location, had to practically shout through a small opening in the glass for the cook to hear me. There wasn't a sign on the door stating whether they accepted Visa - luckily they did.

The meat is served without sauce, but the sandwich is served on plain white bread, and with how big these sandwiches are, the thin bread can't cope. These sandwiches need to be served on a true bun. Lather that meat up with some sauce and the white bread just gets soggy and crumbles.

The meat was smoked decently, but it doesn't come close to the true smokehouse favor of the Ridgewood in Bluff City, TN. The taste of the bare meat would have been acceptable had the meat not been so fatty. This meat was not "marbled" and in between the small portions of lean pulled pork was a great amount of fatback. This wasn't appropriate marbling...it was just gross, unhealthy lard.

The original sauce was tangy and had some vinegar to it, but it wasn't good enough to be memorable. The "hot" sauce was equally forgettable. I didn't eat the sweet sauce. Famous Dave's, a BBQ casual dining chain, has much better sauces.

The fries were homemade, deep-fried, and excellent. They were as good as any I've had at top-notch BBQ restaurants in the southeast, and were the only redeeming factor of the meal.

As a native Tennessean and BBQ connoisseur, this place would be out of business if it relocated to my hometown within a few months after the buzz wears off. Not only can Arthur Bryant's not touch the best BBQ in our region, the original Ridgewood, it isn't even as good as small mom and pop shops(Firehouse, Pardners, Braden's) in east TN that can give you the same meal for half as much. As far as Des Moines goes, you'll get a better BBQ at Jethro's, Famous Dave's. or Smokey D's for less than you can eat Arthur Bryant's.

All hype and no show.

I wish it lived up to the hype I went there, and I love brisket but ended up taking 2 bites and wanted to spit it out but didn't. I then ate the rest of my meal, the pulled pork was better ,and I enjoyed it. The fries are unsalted but made by hand and good. Atmosphere was in welcoming they had half the tables "out for cleaning" and like 4 workers swarmed you to go find a new seat.

I had relatives that came from California and ate at Arthur Bryant's which was recommended from a person in KCMO. And I co-signed and said this is where I purchase my ribs because I don't like Gate's . My cousin and his wife got the ribs and sausage which looked like processed ham and was very salty and bbq sauce was not hitting and they could put Sweet Baby Rays or Bullseye on the table other than their sauce. Need to use my Auntie Emma's BBQ sauce made from scratch. P.S. Don't burn the ribs put the bone side down first and cook if you want me to come show you how to do this you'll be the best in the world!!!!!!! Left very disappointed and next time we come we will try LC's or Big T's.

The KC Original. The helpings here are generous, so bring a lot of appetite. Where Arthur Bryant's really shines is in the sauce, they have three different sauces which are all excellent. The service is fine. The decor and theme of the restaurant is... old. The meat was well prepared, though I did like the meat at Char Bar and Jack Stack a little bit more.

We travel a lot and have eaten a lot on BBQ - St Louis, Nashville, Memphis, Texas, etc. First the good - the brisket was tasty and the portions were large. Unfortunately the bad - got a rack of ribs that were absolutely the driest, overcooked, and frankly worst ribs we have had. Texture of old shoe leather. Shame because we looked forward to going here. Definitely never again.

Can't understand the hype for this place.

It must be an original thing, but not good.

Visiting from Houston, Texas. BB-Q was ok. Texas BB-Q we don't use a meat slicer, just cut it with a knife to get that charcoal burnt taste from the brisket and thicker slices. We get the whole link sausage, not thin slices. Didn't feel like I had BB-Q fresh off the pit. Looked like it was a day old and didn't get that fresh taste. Then again, I'm from Texas and we do BB-Q right. Update: after leaving this place, I got an upset stomach and threw away my leftovers at my hotel. Sorry, I gave this place a try...

Not pleased with the portion of my to go meal at all....definitely shocked when I opened the box(not the classic red paper)....saw 8 - 10 meals prepared for people to stay and a couple to go.....and their portions were huge ....... Other customers were amazed by the sandwiches and fries...and expressing their amazement in line....I ordered a combo with fries and a rib tip and fries.......I had a ton of fries for $45......the sandwich wasn't a sandwich just a LITTLE meat on the side and 4 pieces of bread(i know that to go sandwiches are not prepared like a regular sandwich....but it wasn't enough meat to make a sanwich with 2slices of bread) and my tips was skimpy(not even a palm full).......I'm very disappointed..........especially since seeing everyone else's meal and being a life long resident and a fairly frequent customer...I know what I should be getting......not my first rodeo with this treatment either.....skimpy as hell...just not happy at all!!!!! .......Won't be back for a while or maybe at all.....Like I said , Not the first time!

A Legend in KC. I've been here twice in my life. Here's the scoop. Their original sauce is where KC BBQ began. The food is good, but the expectation is that it'll be fabulous. I had a combo w fries and a beverage. The fries were passable, but the sandwich was tasty. Here's the rub, I found it difficult to order and know where to go, & which sandwich was mine when it came out. I learned I like a little sweeter sauce than their original. The staff, seemed to be disinterested in helping, but they're behind a window/counter that may be for hygiene or just safety's sake. I'll probably go back, but it'll be with someone who says they absolutely must eat there. The food is good, but it lacks the support a lot of other joints provide.

The true pinnacle of Kansas City barbeque. It is a must go to for any BBQ aficionado. There's a good reason the walls are littered with pictures of celebrities and why Arthur Bryant's has been around since 1908.

Delicious BBQ. Nuff said. If you find yourself in KC, driving through KC, or up for a road trip for some great BBQ, Arthur Bryant's is worth it.

The restaurant itself isn't much to look at when you walk in. It is completely no-nonsense with basic diner tables and chairs and a glass window where you tell the cook what you want. I ordered the meat platter where you choose 3 types of meat and they give you a full pound total. This could definitely be shared.

The food itself is amazing, slow smoked, tender, and did I mention delicious? I chose the pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. Each were wonderful, but I kept coming back to the pulled pork, it was fabulous. I also tried each of the 3 sauces on the table. My favorite was the Sweet and Spicy, but all were very good.

Looking around at other customers, the portions for many of their dishes are large enough for Jake S. to appreciate. I will have to order the pulled pork sandwich if I ever get the chance to stop back by. It is only a 9 hour drive....

The food was average. It was okay BBQ. Their beans, potatoe salad, and fries were good however. This is the first time I come to this restaurant, and I know it may be better other days, but today on 7/13/17, it deserves 2 stars. First thing I notice as I come inside the restaurant are these employees behind the windows stuffing their mouths with the meat on the prep table with the same gloves and hands they use to prepare the food. I wanted to turn back but I had driven a long way for this "famous" restaurant. Next I was greeted. The employees were not courteous, they had little knowledge of the menu, and they weren't organized. There was nobody behind me, so they weren't in a hurry. Took them 3 tries to get my order right. I was tired of telling them over and over what I wanted. Some employees were loudly complaining about getting permission to go out on a smoke sesh. Unprofessional. I expect this type of service from lousy school fundraisers, not Arthur Bryant's

This BBQ is fantastic. There is no other adjective for it. The service is quick and the line moves fast. Know what you want when you get up there. I recommend the burnt ends and their sausage sandwich. Everything is served on Wonder bread to make sure that the meat and sauces really shine. There are three different bbq sauces on the tables. All three are solid choices, but the sweet heat is something truly special.

I just recently went here and they've made changes. They don't tell you and by the time you find out it's basically too late. You used to get pickles with you order but now if you don't ask for them they don't give them to you. The same thing with sauce. After I got home I opened up the box. Which use to be unrolling the paper to get to my sandwich. Then I noticed there's no sauce on the meat. I just couldn't believe now if you don't ask for sauce you don't get it plus they don't even ask you if you want it or not. I was very disappointed.

Average BBQ, everything was covered in BBQ sauce couldn't taste the meat and sauce wasn't all that great made the meat way to tangy with a weird after taste. It's kinda of like what a kid would get something smothered in ketchup or ranch. It's also extremely expensive, sandwiches are around $10 which isn't bad but they get you with the sides and drinks to amp up the price .

Being from Denver I wanted some real Kansas City BBQ, and I found it! AMAZING FOOD! Great tasting meat with expert cooking. It was a Sunday afternoon, and even with the after church rush they know how to get people in and through the line fast. Meat by the pound was $16, but we got sandwiches and fries. All the sides were tasty from the baked beans to the potato salad or Casarole. This is a must stop if visiting Kansas City!!

One of the big three in KC BBQ. I am faithful to the burnt ends. The wife loves their pulled pork. We order the food to-go but sit in the restaurant anyway. I love the butcher paper bundles in the takeout packages, and it's way more food than I can eat in a sitting. Still reasonable prices, generous portions, and the floors are still (thankfully) slick with grease from all the years.

If only Bryant's could have a little more consistency. It is a hallmark of KC BBQ, and still relevant, but there's several times I've been here and really left disappointed. Despite this, I still come back once in a while.

The original sauce is not my thing. But the Sweet Heat sauce is excellent.
