Golden Gate Casino Reviews

Had breakfast with a friend at Dupar's, and it was, of course, outstanding! We followed that with about an hour of blackjack during which time we placed some of those sucker bets. We had a blast! My favorite thing about the Golden Gate is the gorgeous sign outside.

From check in to check out this hotel was horrible. We purchase this hotel via Groupon 2 months ago. Upon checking in we were told that they were going to upgrade us to it to bed suite. Which we thought was great until we get up to the room and we are right next to the main stage on Fremont Street. The windows were so thin that they are rattling until about 3 a.m. do to all of the live bands and DJ's right outside of our room. We could not sleep whatsoever and asked if we would be able to move rooms and they said that they were negative on space and since we had the Groupon this was as good as it gets. Then we asked if we would be able to get a couple of bottles of water because they do not have any evening machines on any of the floors and they told us that it would be $2 for each bottle that we requested. The bathroom was so small you could brush your teeth while using the toilet. Overall a very poor experience and we'll not be back to this hotel.

Staying right now!!! Terrible hotel, don't waste your money, the motel 6 of Vegas! Actually motel 6 is an upgrade! No AC or thermostat control, room needs repair, NO AMENITIES at all! We could having stayed elsewhere cheaper!

Great casino! Not too crowded and a throwback to the old Vegas. Our taxi driver said it was the first casino in Vegas.

Worst stay ever! The room shook from the music in Fremont, the windows would not open, the rooms for a double queen bed, in a 10 x 10 space :-/

They have a good old fashionable hotel in the freemon street. We going with our family and all days that come to the hotel and casino have a good days, very very happy.

The personal and services of the hotel is very very proffesional, the hotel is more or less old, but really like it, dont need the most new hotel to pass a good night and stay secure with oir family.

Couldn't sleep you could hear the whole party and outside life in my room and it smelled like my room was flooded before

I've stayed in just about every hotel on the strip and downtown. These are the best suites for the price. Sure you can go to the strip and pay $300-500 a night for a nice suite. Or come here and pay a fraction. This is a very small casino and hotel. But you dont need a huge casino to win or loose money.

Busy weekend on Fremont st, they had some sort of street event and most of the hotels were packed. Golden gate had table room and good priced tables for such a busy weekend. We had a good time

Spent a week in one of the suites last month. Early check-in was no problem. Staff was very friendly. Place was very clean. Resort fee is a joke since there isn t even a restaurant on site let alone a pool or anything else. But that s Vegas.

Late night staff is fun other staff isnt as fun and in out 100$ so take it as you will. Cool place though

We took a tour and since the remodel it is very charming (smaller rooms). The suites are beautiful. We are staying here next time in Vegas.

It's in the old part of Vegas, it sounds like urban legion music, weird weird people, different

The hotel suite I visited was very nice, clean and hip.

This was my first time staying at the Golden Gate.

Let me start off by saying that the management at the Golden Gate Hotel/Casino were overly accommodating. I left a satisfied customer at the end of my stay. Due to my request to be moved I spoke with a few of the front desk staff. Many of them were absolutely great. This review is honest and not to be interpreted as a negative one, but an informative one.

I had read the reviews about noisy rooms but ignored them, since I had stayed at other hotels on Fremont street many a time. What I didn't take into account was that since the building was from the early 1900's the floors don't go above the Fremont Street experience roof. This means all the rooms are near the street corner or the speakers and concert stages.

When I arrived to my room I was instantly aware of the noise, just from traffic, taxis and such and knew the night would be a noisy one. I went to the desk to ask about being moved to another room, or property. Later that day management assisted me in moving to another room located in a newer section of the building. Management took the time to show me another room, tell me about the property and inform me about the older rooms. I was told that the older rooms have divided glass windows that cant be changed due to the hotels historic status, rooms in a recent extension are fully insulated and have thick windows that block out most of the noise.

The 2nd room I was moved to while only a bit more expensive was much nicer, quieter, and larger. The bathroom was the most noticeable difference. The bathroom had a huge shower with sliding glass doors, a rain shower head, and huge counter. The first room was cramped, the bathroom was tiny, the door touched the toilet when open. This was a big difference between room types.

My stay in this newer room was really nice and I would consider staying in it again if available. My recommendation is that if you are planning on going to sleep early or during the day to get one of the newer rooms.

This hotel offers an excellent bargain when staying downtown, and ultimately the staff proved to be very accommodating and understanding.

Attached are photos of both rooms. The older room with the tile shower and the newer room, with the large bathroom, closet next to the bed, and larger living space. Also is a photo where you can clearly see the newer back building and the older front portion. Its actually interesting as this hotel has been around for more than 100 years.

This casino is one of my "go-to" for late night eats and early morning breakfast! It's a clean niche location right across from the Plaza. Service at this diner was 5 stars. It did have newer slots along with old favorites.

Great casino! The oldest casino in Nevada! Check out the rooms they are so cool and the customer service here is great! I highly recommend this place! Have a drink at the bar, drink like the rat pack did :)

Super fun casino, we went there especially for their slot machines that still take the coins like the old days. Super friendly staff & fun environment.

Not really impressed with the room. Small, not refinished, lacking in amenities. Only plus side is that it is cheap

It's a fun place to be at especially if you have your own wolf pack.

We absolutely love the 80's metal band Spandex nation that plays on the weekends from 10pm to 2am right outside. Everything you could want is right in the area.
