Great - powerful - top team

Great - powerful - top team

Our son is currently in 11th grade in Canada - despite Corona - and is very happy there.
A very big thank you to the entire GLS team and especially to Ms. Rodewald.

We have had the best experiences with GLS:
- Competent and individual advice from very committed employees
- meaningful information material for students and parents
- personal support with the application and the visa application
- high flexibility
- always an open ear for all our questions

The GLS team was at our side with advice and action in all decisions. We were never left alone with the application for a school place, the later application for the study permit and the further organization until departure, but always received very professional and loving support.

It was a great achievement that, especially with regard to the various requirements in connection with the corona pandemic, all challenges were mastered so well.
For us there is only one language center - GLS - simply an unbeatable team

Attending classes at GLS is really helping me to achieve my personal goals towards the German language.
The school campus has a great atmosphere to learn a new language: experienced teachers, well equiped classrooms, friendly staff and a nice backyard. the free time activities are also quite cool!
hope to be able to write my next review in proper German :)

Medellin, Colombia

Medellin, Colombia
This was already my second language trip with GLS and once again everything worked out wonderfully. Booking, sending the documents in time before departure. The school in Medellin is small but very professional. I've learned a lot.
I will definitely book my next language vacation again with GLS. Can the agency only recommend.

I was at GLS every now and then for several years, and was always satisfied, both from the service on a professional level and from the people.
I liked the school space itself, the activities, and the teachers.
The last time I had the chance to have Nina Esser as a teacher. It always had very interesting topics and for me the lessons were a perfect mix between grammar, spoken language, writing and fun. I value her not only as a teacher, but also as a person.

Thank you GLS, I hope to visit again one day!

Cheaper than the Goethe Institute, but the quality of the courses is much lower. The teacher wasted hours making us guess some obscure verb tense that was not for B2 students at all and that even him as a native wasn't sure about, ridiculous.

Our first child was in Australia with GLS two years ago. It went absolutely great in every respect. At school, English is now always rated 1. When our second child was supposed to go to Australia, Covid came 19. Despite the massive difficulties, the organization does its best to open the alternatives and remains in constant contact with us. We sincerely hope that the stay with GLS will still work, we can only recommend GLS.

The Teacher Training at GLS was the perfect introduction to my work as a DAF teacher. As a newcomers to a completely unknown profession I was offered either long distance learning courses without or with only a few hours of attendance or in times of lack of teachers the leap into the cold water and without any experience simply teaching. Neither one nor the other I wanted to "afford" me. Although you have to afford the Teacher Training, the money is well invested in my opinion. The scheduled four weeks you can still cope with no income, longer would be difficult to handle. Since the time is so tight, and the program in the compact four weeks is also pulled through quite tightly, you should set aside everything else as possible and hang properly. At times you can also come to its limit, but you will be well prepared for everyday life in a language school and especially the way of working as a teacher (organization, methodology, didactics). The concept of theoretical input and subsequent teaching practice in the change, in real students and with constant review and feedback of the learned and applied I find very meaningful, intense and insightful. You learn a lot in a very short time. Unfortunately, there is little time for reflection. This can then be done in the "normal" teaching practice. For me, the effort was worth it in any case and I could take a lot for my new job and apply it in the episode. Things that I had not expected before and would not have learned without instructions.

I was with GLS in London at "THE LONDON SCHOOL OF ENGLISH" to improve my business English. The complete support from GLS from the advice to the selection of the host family to the recommendation of the school was excellent! I will book 100% of my next language stay with GLS again!

We booked a three-month high school stay in Auckland-New Zealand for our son at GLS. We really enjoyed our stay abroad with GLS. We always felt well informed in advance and during the trip and everything went smoothly. Supervised flight from Berlin, three days in Sydney as an introduction, everything went very well and a real highlight. Very nice and competent supervisors.
On site at the school, the employees in the National Office were very nice and took good care of our son. Unfortunately, he had to change the host family because there was too little time for a guest student due to a new job. The selection of the new family was very well looked after and in the end it was really lucky and another highlight. Overall and very good value for money for this great experience.
An improvement for us would have been that we would have booked the return flight closer to our home. So we went to Berlin again. But Berlin is always worth a trip :-). Many Thanks. We will be back!

Magnus made it back home very well. The flights went very well.

This school has a very standardized program structure and some great teachers. GLS also makes a serious effort to expand their horizons and bring new students and teachers into the fold. Evening classes have been quite convenient.

The preparation and support for our daughter's year abroad in Dublin by GLS and the Irish partner organization HSI was excellent. Although our choice of school (girls' school with boarding school) was not in the GLS standard portfolio, all minor discrepancies (there weren't any big ones) were resolved immediately in good cooperation between GLS and HSI. The airport transfer for several holiday-related flights home has always worked reliably, as has the organization of a host family in Cork during the small holidays and the associated transfer. Since not all of the school reports had been written when we left in June, GLS and HSI took care of it and sent them to us. Both our daughter and we, the parents, have always felt we were in good hands with GLS and HSI. We would therefore like to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH that you have made such a decisive contribution to the success of this year abroad!

When I consulted GLS Language Center out of interest for an internship abroad, it was only overwhelmingly reported to me that it was no problem to organize one, even with the requirements that I have for a mandatory internship for my studies. I conveyed and took care of everything I needed as quickly as possible. Then nothing came at first. When the employees apparently noticed that it would not work for whatever reason, they suddenly consulted jobs in a country other than my preferred country without asking me. I immediately rejected it but after that you noticed even more the lack of interest of the employees to deal with my concern. On the phone she looked almost unfriendly and annoyed. (But sorry, I would finally pay a lot of money for it) Until I got an email a few days later that said there would be nothing but at least they would have tried everything.
I personally would not choose GLS again.

Thanks to this organization, I was able to experience the greatest adventure of my life!
We as parents thank GLS for the great advice, support and help! The team is technically absolutely competent and was always open to concerns and questions during the stay and before. The local organization also did a great job. For us, GLS is number one . Thanks for everything

Terrible and unfriendly administration. People at the reception are completely uninformed and unwilling to help. They are incapable of answering even basic questions and push you off onto someone else, leaving you lost for answers.

On a more serious note, this summer I was attached on my way to a morning class and approached the girl on reception for advice on what to do, she seemed completely uninterested and unsympathetic. Her advice was report it to the police or not, it s really not up to me How can someone think that being physically attacked and spat at isn t something you should report to the police.

If you are an international student considering this school I would recommend looking elsewhere.

I did a HIGH SCHOOL YEAR in Argentina with GLS and I am thrilled! The support from GLS and on site was great and the preparation for the stay was flawless!
I was able to attend various seminars that were very helpful to learn some cultural peculiarities, to learn something about the Spanish language and to exchange ideas with other exchange students. Even former students were invited, who reported directly on their experiences and who could be asked questions :).
The choice of host family was also perfect: I didn't have to change them and found a second family in them.

The local partner organization was also really great! There were numerous trips across the country that brought you closer to the diversity of the country. It was great fun together with the other exchange students! GLS really found a great partner!
The on-site organization and GLS were always available to answer questions.

After my return there was the welcome back seminar, which cushioned my culture shock (which was bigger in Germany than in Argentina). It was really nice to meet all or many exchange students I met in the preparatory seminars!

I thank GLS for this experience and would do it again with you at any time! I recommended GLS to my friend for her internship abroad and she is also enthusiastic.

Dear student teachers, etc.,

Dear student teachers, etc.,

My girlfriend and I both study English for teaching. During the semester break we decided to go to English-speaking foreign countries for 12 weeks to complete the obligatory semester abroad.

Unfortunately, the whole planning was a bit short-term, because at the beginning of the semester, the times for the exams were not fixed yet. Normally long-term internships can be planned through the academic exchange service, so this was out of the question for us.

We did not try to get an internship via the faculty or the degree program or study course committee. That was a mistake!

We both asked each other at GLS - Dublin, Ireland - after we had not been allocated any space at our own request to schools in the UK. The time was relatively tight and we decided to use the services of GLS for 805 each. That is 1610 for a time of about 1-2 hours, which it cost the GLS to give us an internship. The desire to get a place at a school in the west of Dublin became a bureaucratic process that was unsuccessful.

So if you want to do a school internship abroad, ask about opportunities at your university and with fellow students from the different grades, who may be able to help you.

You save a lot of money.

I was in Merida, Mexico with GLS and had the best time of my life in two and a half months. I actually wanted to stay half a year, but unfortunately Corona got in the way. Especially in times of crisis you can see who you can really rely on. GLS, my host family and the on-site supervisor Silvia looked after me and the other guest students perfectly. I would recommend this organization to everyone.

This school was absolutely brilliant. I had a great teacher called Nina Esser. She was absolutely the best. She not only learned the grammar, the vocabulary and the structure of the German language, but also the history of Germany. We had so many exciting arguments, it was really very interesting. so I would say thank you Nina, thank you GLS for everything.

The perfect school. Teachers there are the most beautiful human beings you will see. Also very competent. Campus is very beautiful. Administration is super friendly and professional; the service is excellent and convenient. System of coordinating the courses is very good and flexible. International community. What could be better?

I attended classes at GLS for a few months at the end of 2016 and beginning of 2017. Their facilities as well as their location are indeed very good. But that does not make the school good. Most of my teachers, with only three exceptions and especially Marrit who was super, were below average as teachers. Not to mention their immature personalities and the fact that they brought their personal problems and their problems with the school in class. One teacher told me that he does not get paid enough to care about giving us homework or correcting it and another one accused me of being responsible for the horrible capitalistic system because I have private health insurance and apparently (in her mind) money! After GLS I tried another school, with not so good facilities, and it was just excellent. Mainly because of the teachers who took their job seriously, worked hard and did not bring their personal life and problems in the class.

I am pretty UNHAPPY with this language school. I was twice place on a fare to easy level, and had therefore NOT LEARNED anything new. Grammar is not taught very will (more like not at all), and homework is close too non-existing.

It had been a WASTE of time and money for me.

A beautiful and well-located school with inspiring teachers and friendly students. Especially good is the programme of afternoon and weekend activities organised by the school, which covers not just all the obvious museums and neighbouring cities but also such places as Zossen, which astonishingly few Berliners seemed to have heard of. I arrived with perfunctory German, and left after four months at the lower end of C1.

All in all, highly recommended, though bear in mind that the accommodation offered by the school is extremely expensive by Berlin standards. It's also quite easy to find sublets and flatshares once you've arrived.

Really good learning experience. Even though I was only there for 9 days, I think I learned a lot considering the short stay. They have a lot of activities every day and most of them are free. We also made a lot of people around our age 18-25, which is great as we can explore the beautiful city together! The teachers for the beginners were also very professional as they taught patiently. If you're going there, make sure you don't give up as they teach EVERYTHING in Deutsch, they're trying to make you learn!

It was a wonderful trip to Cardiff, United Kingdom. You meet nice people from all over the world and suddenly you feel 20 years younger, like in school :-). Teachers create a climate conducive to learning that you really want to learn and do not feel compelled to learn. Homework is voluntary. In the evening there is still enough time for sightseeing and shopping.

On youtube you will find my video report. Since links are not allowed here, simply search for Country of Tech on youtube and select Carrdiff under Videos!

Great praise to GLS, who has organized this trip perfectly, next year it's off to Edinburgh, of course with GLS!

Very impressive campus, a real meeting center in the heart of Berlin - really inspiring to experience all the young people from all over the world together. And now the Oderberger Stadtbad incl. Boutique Hotel is also part of it! Not only is it finally open to the public again after years as a swimming pool, but can also be booked as an event location. Very cool ... And in addition to the language school, GLS also offers high school stays, language trips, work and travel etc.

Very good and useful language school in Berlin.

Very good and useful language school in Berlin.
After experience of language learning in another schools I ve understood that this school is really great.
Of course quality of studying depends on teachers and here I ve met powerful teachers and got strong knowledge of German language.
Even if you are not satisfied about your current teacher they can change his/her, just complain about it.
Very convenient location as well.

Cost - benefit ratio extremely unfavorable! Although very nice premises and good comfort, but what matters (teaching language skills) is rather moderate. Teachers pull the stuff through and barely care if the students come along too. Once a student has understood something, it goes on, what about the others does not matter.
If a participant is ill and the teacher thinks he can not attend, the school administration still requires a medical certificate. You pay a lot of money and will be treated anyway, as with the immigration office ... If everyone sees that someone is ill, why then a certificate?
After changing the language school (cost far less than half) significant improvement in progress!

I have been to different language courses. However GLS is different. The training methods used by my teacher is superb. I had a lot of fun learning German. And the atmosphere is serene and beautiful. I will miss going to GLS.

Tram right in front of the door, very nice staff, so far very enjoyable, competent basic Japanese course.
You are well looked after before and after, either by your own restaurant or by the surrounding shops.
I will attend a few more courses here, I like it very much, price-performance ratio is absolutely right! Many thanks to GLS

Very efficient, accessible language center with some great teachers. Registration was so easy and efficient -- with only a couple days noticed they helped place me in one of their B2 evening class and worked with me to get the necessary paperwork and approvals for my fellowship. I loved the teacher I had (Steffan is the best!). It was one of the few language courses where we were all mutually pleading to let more than the maximum number allowed stay in during subsequent months because no one wanted to give up on his course. Some of the substitute teachers we had were not so good though, so it may be hit or miss with the teacher.

I am a student of GLS. They are very professional. They take care of all the procedures and guide you very well from start till the end. 9 out of 10 teachers are very well trained and they make the language learning process much easier for us.

At the train station a taxi driver was waiting for us. At "check-in" we had to do the test again. At their website they write that if you take in online you don't need to take it there. And as there were too few kids it was actually a waste of time to do the test as we were basically separated by age. The room is definetely not as in their pictures (if you ever find one). The rooms advertised were for the staff. The food wasn't good. And finally we had 2 trips to Berlin to hang out at a mall and to watch an ice hockey game (in the summer...) Here their advertisement: "Jede Woche 1 Ganztagesausflug und ein Halbtagesausflg: z.B. zum Potsdamer Platz, Brandenburger Tor, Reichstag, Zoo und Tiergarten".

I was here for a week and took the intensive German course "crash plus", 30h of German in a week. Everything was excellent, I was really amazed: the teachers (Anja, Jeremias, Christine and Stefan, thanks !!) were nice, listening and most of all competent and pedagogical. The school infrastructure is very good (big classrooms, interactive smart boards with internet connection). There is also an affordable cafeteria which is handy when you don't have too much break time. Oh, and a little library with 2 persons ready to help you in choosing an appropriate book to read, given your German level. The administrative staff was also very helpful and competent and guided me through the paperwork which I needed to prepare in order to have the course recognized as an official training (Bildungsurlaub). So I definitely recommend and I have quite a rich language schools experience...

Everything was well organized, St. Peter's High School, Gore, NZ highly recommended, also the boarding school, great mentoring teachers, easy to find connection, host family for the last week carefully and tailored to the student selected.
At any time again student exchange with GLS

The school is good but the excursions leave a lot to be desired.

I was asked by the teacher / guide on the Ubahn which I way I voted regarding Brexit. She was pretty insistent on knowing the answer when she heard where I came from. I found it pretty rude as I've no wish to re-run the election and I've no wish to discuss my private thoughts on how this will affect me. Not on a school trip and certainly not on the Ubahn with someone I've just met.

The school gives out homework every night so it keeps you on your toes for the next day. Plus point if you're really there to study.

Most teachers won't speak to you in English which I really like as I'm already a native English speaker and pay a lot of money to learn German... I don't feel like giving a free English tutorial to whoever wants to practice when I'm paying a hellova lot of money to learn German... there are odd ocassions though
I DON'T NEED AN ENGLISH TRANSLATION. .. TELL ME IN GERMAN.

WiFi is free so youll need to ask for the password at reception... It changes every week so you'll need to ask them every Monday you're there. Expect to be looked at if you hang around at reception to use it too much.

Books are included but you'll need some writing paper and folder. Some language schools give you paper and a bag. Helps them promote I suppose... gls don't.

Would definitely recommend the school. Maybe not the excursions. They should work more on their programme.

Great school, good and professional teachers, helpful and friendly staff!
The prices are fair and it includes all the materials.
There are cultural activities organized by the school every afternoon.
I did 2 weeks intensive course and I really enjoyed it.
It's also in a beautiful location!

In GLS I found all I was looking for. I was there ...

In GLS I found all I was looking for. I was there for a month and, by the end of my stay, I didn't want to go home anymore. First of all, as I followed an intensive course, my German improved in leaps and bounds. I really enjoyed my German classes: we always talked about interesting topics and, as there were only 5 of us, everyone always had to chance to speak. The teachers were also very nice and good (some more than others), which made it easier to learn. I also took part in several activities organised by the school: I enjoyed most of them and I had the chance to meet several people from all over the world. We had a great time together and we had fun discovering Berlin. Berlin is a great, international and open-minded city and with GLS you can visit parts of it you'd never head about. So, in conclusion, my experience in GLS undoubtedly exceeded my expectations... I would do it over and over again!

Clear recommendation! I've been to Malta with GLS and I'm very satisfied. You have good all-round support, the placement was quick and easy and the competent team was always available for questions. I felt that I was in good hands during my entire stay, especially in these difficult times.

It is a good school but to my surprise my school back home (in CH) was/is much better HDS St. Gallen). Giving all the credit to the native German teacher I had there (Gaby) who was extremely organized & focus in explaining everyday some grammar following it with exercises. We gave all the grammar in A2! Teachers here are good & put a lot of effort but in the standard course (morning part of my crash course) you are basically throw into a course and you take it from there... And the group is big.
I had probably too high expectations from GLS so now I am very disappointed. I have made the effort financially (+1000 /2weeks without accommodation) & family wise to come here for 2 weeks and unfortunately - from the Deutsch point of view - it has been not worthy so far (appreciating the time off though). Only the private tutoring is "saving" these 2 weeks... (Although let's say it: for less money - here around 85 /90mins - you can get the same results getting a great tutor online in Tandem - 22$/90mins - or any other online tutoring service...)
I regret coming? YES and no...Now I know what it is.
Will I come back? Absolutely no.
Will I recommend it? NO. No for a 2 weeks crash course... Unless you have nothing better to do at home, no high or any expectations, you don't have children to look after and spending money is not an issue.
Trying to be positive, being here is bringing me back in the mood to study German ON MY OWN so I can skip group classes for good :-)
PS: on top of all the wifi is not working well so you are disconnected & no access to dictionary :-((

The school in Paris was good overall (2+). I learned a lot in a week, even if I found the lessons somewhat chaotic in parts and the language teachers were of different quality. GLS has prepared things very well. I can recommend the course.

I was at GLS for three months this summer doing a semi-intensive language & internship course. All of the teachers I had were extremely enthusiastic and made the lessons enjoyable. The lessons were mostly focused on speaking and grammar. I lived on the campus, which is modern and has a friendly atmosphere. The school organise activities and there are a lot of places to socialise on campus, so it is easy to meet new people. I would highly recommend GLS Berlin!!

Of the six German classes I have taken over the years, the one at GLS is so far the best. The teacher stays in our target language 100% of the time, she knows her stuff when we have grammar questions, and we all get a lot of prompts to practice speaking. There's not much more I could ask for.

Really recommended language school! I took IELTS course and also German course! Lovely vibes and the staff really friendly. The price almost general with others. Great location, the tram stop just right in front of the building, it is Schwedterstrasse.

This school has definitely set high standards on the qualitiy of their teachers. I have attended 2 different courses (Intensive & Standard) and all of my teachers were supportive, encouraging, well-prepared, patient and kind. This created such a lively environment for the class, it makes me look forward to the next class each time it had ended for the day. Thank you so much GLS!

I had a lot of fun and I learn plenty. The school facilities and personal are way top from what I have seen. Al services are clean and in excellent conditions and the personal always very helpful and with a smile on the face specially the reception and library personal. It feel good going to school.

I would like to mention my teachers Patrick and David, Sabine the class coordinator and Sophia Winkelmann for their professional work.

Dear team of GLS, especially dear Mrs. Rodewald!

Dear team of GLS, especially dear Mrs. Rodewald!

My daughter is currently in Newfoundland (high school year) and is having a great time there. I would like to thank all the GLS colleagues who made this possible. From the first contact until now we were very well advised and looked after. My daughter was a little undecided where she would like to go. Ms. Rodewald has taken a lot of time and told her all the advantages and disadvantages without telling her anything. The employees of GLS know their regions to be cared for personally. When the decision was made, we were prepared very carefully and comprehensively through info books, information events and personally accompanied by Mrs. Rodewald. So the extensive documents were quickly put together. Shortly before the departure, Ms. Rodewald again asked by phone whether we have all the documents and asked if we need help. A great service!

The host family was very carefully selected - tailored to the needs of our daughter - Thanks to you and the host family! I am in regular contact with my daughter and the host mother and I am happy and happy that she is doing so well. Monthly I get a short report from the supervisors on site.

I can fully recommend GLS. Since we have already sent a child to a high school year with another agency, I appreciate even more the excellent work GLS is doing.

Our daughter went to Canada via GLS and initially took part in a four-day giant to New York. Everything worked perfectly, up to and including the onward journey to British Columbia. We even got a picture of our daughter at the airport with her host family. It couldn't have been better. This is our second child who goes abroad with GLS. 100 percent recommendation

Love the environment and surrounding of the school. It is very conducive for learning. The school offers many accomodation possibilities. I chose the single studio at a student house(about 30-40mins with Tram), & there will be cleaners coming to clean the room every week.

I also love how they have different teachers for the day, to keep the class more alive and less boring.

After I arrived in Berlin 3 years ago, I started my German learning process at GLS. The time I spent at school not only sparked a great passion for the German language, it also enabled me to meet new people from all over the world.
I wanted to specifically mention Nina Esser as an excellent teacher. Nina has always paid attention to the nuances of the language and enriched us, and me personally, with interesting synonyms and alternative expressions.
My time at GLS was a unique experience, and a lot of it is thanks to Nina and the other teachers at the language school.

Looking for a provider who organizes my language study trip to Malta, I came across GLS ud was initially positively surprised by the friendliness. The head office in Berlin is the hub of mediation, so that all language schools and hotels are booked and looked after here. So I wanted to go to Malta for two weeks and work on the hotels offered by GLS. The hotel offered DaysInn Sliema seemed very good to me at first glance, but when I read the reviews, I called GLS and asked how the personal experience in this hotel. A nice colleague told me that she was there only a few months ago and was also very excited about this hotel. All the negative reviews I read were denied, as she had probably not experienced this. My experience in this hotel was exactly the negative reviews from the internet. And even the offered / much too expensive language course Business English was far from what it promises. Unfortunately, I have learned no everyday situations that can help me in my professional life.

From the correspondence super, from the recommendations and assessments of the hotels on site catastrophic.

A wonderful experience! Great teacher and a really great place in the middle of Berlin. Certainly not the cheapest language school in Berlin, but definitely the best I've ever visited. I came from B2 to C2 in a short time.

I recommend GLS to anyone who wants to acquire, improve their German skills. A well-organized didactic process, the opportunity to participate in additional actions (cinema, museums, trips). Cordial and open teachers and staff. The possibility of using the school canteen - tasty and inexpensive. Modern active teaching methods. I RECOMMEND :)

I have already booked two language courses on GLS in Japan, both times I have been able to concentrate fully on the language, as GLS has always handled and solved all other questions and requests quickly.
Thank you!
