My husband loves Scotch Whiskey so my Aunt treated us to the gold tour....I was a bit dubious I d enjoy it as a wine lover...however it was terrific. Our tour guide was Gregg - knowledgeable and friendly. Tour was a good pace. Amazing history - lovely facilities. Small producer - made with pride and attention to history and detail. And certainly a selection we d never get in Canada. Highly recommend the 90 minute tour & tasting.

What a fantastic experience it has been for us at Glengoyne. My and my girlfriend booked the whiskey and chocolate tour and had a wonderful time.

Our guide Vivienne was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about whiskeys. The distillery itself is very charming. In some way, time is running slower at Glengoyne. Everything is going nice and smooth up there.

The tour itself is nice and you get to see a lot about the whiskey making process. Unfortunately the one thing you do not really see is one of the warehouses. But that is a minor point.

At the end we were escorted to the manager's house to taste the 15y and 21y whiskey with the chocolate guided by Vivienne. It was an amazing experience.

Tip: book an advanced tour. If you only book the standard tour you get a dram at the start (the standard 12y old) and no tasting at the end.

Simply great

Simply great
We booked a tour at short notice, and we liked it very much.
Of course, then also had to plunder the Gift Shop properly. And the gifts have also given everyone pleasure. The only drawback with the umbrella goes down the seam.
Otherwise highly recommended

Malt Master tour done with Ally as our guide. One word: BRILLIANT.

Ally seriously knew his subject and presented in an informative but light hearted manner. The location is stunning and the opportunity to make ones own whisky was unique.

Can not recommend this highly enough. An awesome afternoon. Thank you Glengoyne Distillery and my Mrs for making it happen.

P.S. have a dedicated driver

Something can be gained for everyone on the tour of the distillery even for the whisky haters. It was interesting to see the whole process (apart from the preparation of the barley) and to learn so much about the meaning and history of a Single Malt Scotch Whiskey.

Glengoyne (valley of wild geese) is a distillery f...

Glengoyne (valley of wild geese) is a distillery founded in 1831 in Dumgoyne north of Glasgow. Glengoyne is the only Highland distillery to produce whiskey which matures in the Lowlands. Located on the dividing line between Highlands and Lowlands, the stills of the distillery are indeed in the Highlands but the storage areas for maturation are located some distance from them, in the Lowlands.
Originally established under the name of Burnfoot Distillery (or Burnfoot of Dumgoyne), then Glen Guin Distillery when it had just become the property of Lang Brothers, it was renamed Glengoyne Distillery in 1905.
In 1910 the distillery stopped using its own malting surfaces due to a severe lack of space.
In 1966, it was rebuilt and modernized. The distillery, which had belonged to the Lang Brothers company since 1876, came under the control of the Edrington group in the 1960s.
In 2003, the Lang Brothers company was bought by Ian McLeod, a renowned bottler.
Glengoyne remains the only distillery, with Macallan, to use golden Promise barley, of low yield, but of better quality. The distillery's water supply comes from the Glengoyne River which flows from the neighboring Dumgoyne hill into the distillery grounds before emptying into Loch Lomond.

Unlike many other distilleries, Glengoyne uses hot air to dry malt instead of peat smoke. The clear and bright appearance, as well as the characteristic flavor of Glengoyne single malts are attributed to the absence of peat smoke. Glengoyne's advertisements exploit this peculiarity, which would guarantee an "authentic taste of malt whiskey not spoiled by peat smoke. The drying of malt without peat smoke has however led some to locate Glengoyne whiskey as being closer to a whiskey from the Lowlands than from the Highlands.
About 20% of the production is sold as single malt, the rest being for Lang Supreme and Lang Select blends.

It's been a day full of pleasure while having been at Glengoyne Distilery. People there were very polite which in fact is valid for most of the Scottish population.
Very detailed and informative tour session.
You will definitely not regret if you visit this place. The surrounding landscape is also gorgeous.

An idyllic place to have a Whisky distillery in the middle of these green hills - very scenic setting. The tour itself is informative and shows all the important places to end up with such a well crafted product.

For a first-ever whiskey tour this was probably one of the coolest, most unique and historically rich distilleries we had the pleasure of checking out. My favourite part was seeing the duty free cellar with whiskies older than me and seeing how age and wood can create those stunning, rich caramel colours. Definitely a must do as a tourist in beautiful Scotland!

Great tour and wonderful drams. Pity they don't allow photography - especially for those of us who don't use flash. They could have free use of my photos for their marketing efforts if they had.

Lovely place, good guided tour. They have their own variations of the whisky making process and guides knew it all inside out. Awesome tasting, much recommended. Usual prices for the whisky, don't expect massive discounts.
Book ahead, mind local events, particularly in Glasgow, there can be a crowd of tourists. Parking is available, but not too much space there.
Try to avoid a rude Russian receptionist, just don't talk to her.

This was my third distillery tour in Scotland. I was nice and informative though perhaps not quite as personal as the best one I've had. The Wee Dram version of the tour, which I did, includes two whiskies well worth tasting: the 12-year old and the 18-year old. Recommended.

Distillery not far away from Glasgow with tours and gift shop. There is a flat tour for disabled guests. There are 4 types of tour varying in length and price.
The tour started with a video of the history of Glengoyne since the 1800s. Our guide then gave us each a 12 year old whisky sample before starting the tour. Our guide was informative and passionate about the whisky and it shows! Ended the tour with a sample of the 18 year old. Drivers can take away their sample.
With the tour, you get a discount at the gift shop if you purchase anything.

On Monday this week my husband and I went on a tour of Glengoyne whisky distillery. James was really good to informed me I may have trouble with the stairs in the distillery coz I have trouble with my knees and use a stick. My husband went on with the tour and Anna kindly volunteered to give me a private tour without going round the distillery with everyone else. She explained the whole process and took me into the distillery to meet the rest on the ground floor. I cannot thank Anna enough she was brilliant and I really enjoyed the tour she gave me at my own pace felt like I had known her for along time. James and Anna made our experience so memorable thank you so much Julie and jez xx

Also for non-whiskey drinkers a great trip. We hiked the West Highland Way and made a detour to the distillery. The rooms are well air conditioned, the Scottish English was easy to understand, the tasting loosened the tongue for talks with the guide. The smells are very special but not unpleasant. The guide was very vivid and entertaining.

Great experience, we had the 3 drums tasting experience and it was very interesting, we learnt a lot about how whisky is made in Glengoyne and how to appreciate it.

Even if you are not a whisky fan it is a great experience.

Possibility to walk around after the tasting with staffs available to give additionnal informations.

A lot of covid measures inside the facilities and in the tasting room made me feel very safe all along.

I joined the master class and have great time to know the background of Glengoyne. You will understand more about differences on whisky they offered. Glengoyne do offer great whisky with sherry and bourbon casks. Natural color and non peaty flavor are the key of Glengoyne whisky.

The Warehouse No. 1 tour was fantastic. It started with a guided tour of the distillery with some history of Glengoyne, then I got to retrieve my own samples straight from the barrel using a dipping dug. After the difficult process of deciding between the 2004 bourbon cask and 2002 sherry cask, I picked the bourbon cask and we returned to Warehouse No. 1 to bottle my own whisky by hand! It was so cool. Glengoyne is accessible by bus or car (I took an uber there and the bus back), but the drive there was stunningly beautiful. Easily the highlight of my time in Glasgow.

A distillery that still believes in the traditions and does a fantastic job running it in the exact way.

One of the rare distilleries that still runs in the family, they produce excellent quality of whisky.

All the staff had the Glegoyne pride and you could see how proud they were of being part of the Glengoyne family.

David, our guide, was charming and knowledgeable. We had many good laughs as we learn about the process of how whisky is made.

We picked up a 21YO at the end of the tour and that was definitely the highlight of our Scotland whisky trip!

Me and my partner had a great Sunday afternoon at the distillery doing their whisky and chocolate pairing tour. Our tour guide, Owen was excellent - really knew his stuff and took obvious pride in his work. And you get the feeling everyone at Glengoyne really loves being there. How could you not? It's a beautiful distillery set in the Stirlingshire countryside. We tried the 12, 18 and 21 year old whiskies as well as luxury chocolates from Iain Burnett, the Highland Chocolatier.

Fascinating and entertaining tour of Glengoyne Distillery. We had Gordon as a tour guide and were lucky enough to have a private tour as no one else showed up. He answered all our questions and was happy to pour my partner, who was driving, his tasters into a small jar.

Experienced the Master Blender's tour which involves an in-depth explanation of all parts of the manufacturing process followed by the opportunity to blend a variety of casks to make a concoction to meet my own tastes. The tour guide David was outstanding, very friendly and knowledgeable. Jim at the front desk was also like a ray of sunshine. Best distillery tour I have been on and every Glengoyne whisky tasted superb.

I have been to Glengoyne twice. The first time my friend and I did the Wee Tasting Tour. We had a fantastic time. When my husband and I went to Scotland in October 2016 for our honeymoon I knew we had to go to Glengoyne. This time we did the Malt Masters Tour where we were able to make our own whiskey. It was absolutely fantastic. We had so much fun on the tour and our tour guide was fantastic! We would recommend Glengoyne to anyone without hesitation!
