Been meaning to write my review for some time... Brought an old car of mine for a check up... I was expecting to get "hit over the head" with transmission costs.. Instead, I was greeted by Carl and Phil with an honest explanation about the importance of a simple fluid change. They serviced my car, and off I went.... A year later, I sold the car with the tranny in tip top shape.. I've since called and asked for advice on a new purchase, and they always answer in a prompt and courteous manner.. Wish more shops were run like this. Do not hesitate to use Gibralter Trans on Hylan.. They got their act together.

I had my transmission repaired at Gibraltar and the guys did an amazing job for a reasonable price. It really was a good experience, they tell you everything you need to know before making a decision and spend your money. They diagnosed the problem, explained everything to me and gave me a Quote, I was thrilled when I receive my car back and everything was fixed. My car rides smoothly now.
I like to say that I was scared to bring my car to get a transmission fluid flush at a new place that I didn't know. I like to say that I made the best decision in leaving the car. They treated me better than my local dealers would have. The price was just right for the job they on car. Thank you again Gilbraltar transmission.

This is the word shop I ever went to. Because my transmission cooler broke right in front of their shop, they charged me 45% more then same work at the official dealer. They new that I had now choice but to repair. After all, not all parts where attached properly, cooler leaked, oil radiator was not attached. Went to dealer and they told me that on top of all, they installed gray market parts which cost nothing.
Never ever again. I was told that I was not the first one with the same problem from this shop. Go elsewhere

Have to add it after owners response.
Had to come back to them due to:
#1) antifreeze leak due to improper installation.
After discovering the leak, decided to see where and what cause the leak.
Looking three the bumper grill discovered that they didn t screw all the parts they remover from Cooler replacement ( Oil radiator and some other plastic parts)
Can you imaging driving the car with all radiator connected to the air?
After showing this to the tech, they start blaming me that I hit the car and it fell off. I offered to repair, and hit the bumper as hard as he can just to see what will disconnect, they backed!!
After these handyman s with broken hands, had to go to dealer to replace gray market parts they installed to prevent transmission damage
Want to experiment ? For sure the best place to loose money. Anyway will have to go to other shop to fix what they did.
My car wouldn't go in reverse so I went to Gibraltar they told me my problem was due to my rear brakes so $735 later my car still didn't go in reverse.I brought the car back they held it over night couldn't find the problem and said there was nothing they can do. I was warned not to go there but assuming Gibraltar specialized in transmissions I thought they can solve my problem ......they didn't they sold me a $735 break job instead.
Outstanding service, honest work, amazing caring staff!! Really couldn t have been happier, they made a stressful time so much easier and worry free! Will be returning for any future repairs.
Totally professional and excellent service. Carl is a total gentlemen. They could have easily taken advantage of the issue I was having with my transmission but a fluid change and it was fixed. Great to know there are still some honest shops out there

Honesty is important in a great mechanic and all these guys are very honest and they did a great job on my 06 bmw 750li.I got my transmission fluid changed and i had a great experience,then i went back a few days later and got my flex disc on my driveshaft replaced and now my car drives amazing!!!

Phil and Carl are two great guy s no bs right to the point. Phil had the tow come to my job within 15-20 minutes so I wouldn t have to wait. FREE OF CHARGE! My Jeep feels great and was worth every penny to have peace of mind knowing it was in great hands and safe. Got the big job done right away and even tried to help me out with a trailer hitch problem I had since they were doing work on the truck anyway. Had trouble getting there in time to pick it up and they held onto it for me with no issues or trying to charge storage like some other shops that actually will do that to you. Explained everything done so anyone would understand what s involved and put it all on paper unlike many shops I have dealt with. They will be my go to for other work besides transmissions. AAAAA+++++. Also work is warranted for 12k/12months. ON PAPER!

I wish I could give Gibraltar Transmission Waymore than just five stars Phil and his posse of people that work there are absolutely amazing I had the pleasure of working with them as an outside vendor many years ago when we got to visit Phil at least once a week and his team I seen the quality of work they did over the years of being one of their outside vendors and when it came time that I needed a transmission done I drove my little happy but from New Jersey to Staten Island New York to visit Phil and his team I am extremely happy with all the results in the care And overall outcome of what film this team did to rebuild my transmission and torque converter it took a little bit longer than expected but no big deal they kept me in the loop which was great they also did give me a warranty which is even better and then even feels that if there s any problems please give him a call anytime will be more than happy to help out or see what he can do to help out I actually trust these guys 100% if I ever need to work done again or friends and family need recommendations I will take them to fill myself and make sure they were taken care of just like I was filming sure that him and his team took care of me like I was family I like the first time I met Phill you like sure he doesn t and if he does like you you re always gonna be family so Phil thank you for keeping me in your family all these years and taking my car in when you did and thank your team for an exceptional job that they did greatly appreciated more than you guys would ever know because my car doesn t just carry me carries my family as well so great job so far everything is working better than noon and if I ever do you need to come back for anything else I will make sure I do come back to you guys without hesitation
This place is ran by a bunch of crooks.. DO NOT!! I repeat!! DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING AUTOMOTIVE RELATED!! Dropped my car off on 8/8/2017 at 8a due to a transmission issue.. was told they would diagnosis my vehicle and contact me before days end to let me know the status.. Didn't receive a call by the end of the day so I went there to see what the status of with my vehicle.. 5:30p.. Soon as I arrive, the "warranty" guy comes out and tells me my transmission is bad.. I asked him specifically what was wrong but he wouldn't give me an answer except for telling me the price to rebuild is $3700.. Told him I'll take the car to get another estimate but he tells me I can't drive the car off the lot because he has to call the "warranty" company to find out how much they would cover.. he then proceeds to tell me he has to dissemble the tranny and that someone has to cover the costs.. All I wanted was a diagnoses.. I literally had to argue with these cars to take my car off the lift.. One of their stooges "Chris" takes my car down but wouldn't even look at me in the process which spelt danger.. I get in my car and what do you know? The car is barely drivable.. The PRNDS lights were illuminated, a burnt smell was coming from the engine bay, and the car seems as if all the tranny fluid was drained but never replaced... I dropped my car off drivable but got it back in limp mode.. a 2 minute drive home took 30 min.. I had to go to Cali for a few days afterwards so the car never moved when I parked it in front of my building.. I come back Friday morning 8/11 and the car wouldn't even start.. Coincidence?? Not at all!! I went back to the shop to report the problem and they quickly denied any wrongdoings.. I told them my car was driveable when I first bought it but now it won't even start.. The "warranty" guy tells me the tranny was bad and these things happen.. I asked him about the car not starting and he tells me I have to get it towed to his shop at my expense.. After going back and forth with these guys for 20 min I realized that nothing was going to get accomplished so I left.. Basically.. Gibraltar Transmissions on Hylan Blvd is horrible and not reliable.. Once your in their shop.. they'll try to put you at their mercy by making you feel as if there's no other options.. I called a few other transmission shop and i received quotes ranging from $1200- $1700 for a full rebuild and installation of my tranny.. half of what Gibraltar quoted.. THIS PLACE IS THE WORST!!!
The staff at Gibraltar Transmission is professional and friendly. They explain what problems you have and offer several options to correct them. They stand by their work but most of all.... they are honest!! A rare commodity today.
No call back. Picked up the car and it was running worse when I sent it. never go back. It broke down on me and called a tow truck. Now I'm getting rid of my car because of thier work.
