I've been to a few neurologist in Athens and GNS is the only neurologist willing to help me. The other neurologist I visited didn't seem to be concerned or my conditions weren't bad enough for them justify the method of treatment, I don't know. I'm sure they are good and have helped many people. But GNS seems to understand that a person in pain needs help to relieve the pain big or small because that's not something you should have to live with. I highly recommend them. Their staff is extremely helpful and understanding.

Dr. Barnes is a wonderful physician. He listens, asks questions and does not stop until he finds an answer! I am thankful for this as my case is anything but normal! I am glad he is so knowledgeable and does amazing work. My situation is not fully resolved, however, I am feeling much better than when we started! I am a BBB patient for life!

I pray Dr. Cuff lives forever., well none of us live forever, However he Has been the best in the U.S. I wouln't want any other doctor to touch my back or neck. He has been such a well educated problem solving, and not just knife happy doctor. I love him and what he stands for. If it's not broke don't touch it. This is my opinion, and knowing he did awesome work on several family members. Thank you Dr. Cuff. May God enrich you every day with many blessins that you couldn't hold. In Jesus name, Amen.

I am torn about leaving a 2 star review of the bus...

I am torn about leaving a 2 star review of the business because the majority of the staff was friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. My issue is with the doctor I saw, Dr.Cuff. I had only seen him once, while I had seen his NP a couple times. Dr.Cuffs NP was friendly, nice, warm and encouraging that we could get my back fixed once we got my MRI results. Once we got my MRI results, it showed a bulging disc at L5/S1. It also showed narrowing of multiple other discs. As I understand it, there is nothing that can be done to stop narrowing discs, that is fine, I can deal with that by maintaining a healthy lifestyle and continuing my workouts.

However Dr.Cuff continued with his diagnose of my spine by saying that he thinks I have 25 vertebrae instead of 24 but he wasn't going to order a full back xray to count the vertebrae. He said that he also suspects that the bones between my spine and the vertebrae might be cracked and that I might have slipped discs. Again I was told he was not going to order the correct images because I am functioning. I asked him if there were any options to help with my pain and he said either injections or pain medicine. He quickly followed the mention of pain meds by saying "you're only 30, do you really want to start taking pain pills now". Of course I dont want to start taking pain pills, I want my back to not hurt. As we are getting ready to end the visit, Dr.Cuff says to me that "if your back gets any worse, you have our number".

The fact that I was told that my back IS bad and that he thinks there are other issues that he does not want to diagnose, makes me believe this doctor does not care about his patients. I will never go back to this doctor and I highly recommend you find a different doctor if you're looking for a neurosurgeon.

I am amazed the attention to detail by Dr. Barnes and PA Megan Rector and staff gave my wife before, during, and after my wife's, Bonnie's surgery. The surgery was successful and recovery was quick. 5 stars all the way. Thanks so much for taking care of my Bonnie. Big shout out to St Mary's hospital in Athens Ga as well

Dr. Cuff has been my back surgeon for several years. Maybe like 15 surgeries?? He has always acheived the desired outcome with each surgery. Very understanding man who really listens to his patients and allows me to be an integral part if my care. Aubrey Trujillo, his PA, is also wonderful. She followed me in the hospital after surgery and was really great. These people are why i can walk today!

I have had positive experiences with other St. Mar...

I have had positive experiences with other St. Mary's service providers, but not this one. At a 9-week post-accident follow-up, I come in early to fill out paperwork, then wait 45 minutes to see Dr. Bruner.

He informs my wife and I that he is "out of here at the end of the month, along with a PA friend" and that he feels that I am doing fine (based on what, I don't know). He does not think we need to do an X-ray to compare if my back is healing now vs. 9 weeks ago. He goes on to say, when I ask if the "no-bending, lifting or twisting" requirement is still in place with "That's just something we tell patients. We don't really know". He says I can wear the back brace they gave me after the accident if I want, if I feel like it. So basically, if it is still hurting 4-6 weeks from now to call Georgia Neurological or call him at his new practice.

For this, I spent 3 hours of my day and my wife's day, only to call back in 4-6 weeks? If he has already checked out, then fine, give me to another doctor who will actually act like they care about my progress. His indifferent attitude was uncaring, unwarranted and unnecessary.

I only gave 2 stars because they use Anesthesia Consultants of Athens who have been horrid to deal with. Almost 5 months later and I'm still dealing with issues from them. They don't run correct insurance and you have to constantly call them, they say they fix it then months later you get more unexplained bills. The surgery itself went well but dealing with the people they choose to do Anesthia is a nightmare

Three year patient here. Two surgeries. over last year seen high turn over rate which directly effected performance. Last straw was follow up appointment from last surgery where I was still having problems. Appointment was at 1040. Took me to room at 1035. Sat in room till 1145 with no one ever once giving me and update as to why I was just sitting there waiting. I left... My time is worth some respect too.
