Genesis Centre Review

An ideal place for kids and adults alike..Swimming pool,library,basketball,gym everything under one roof

I m reviewing just the gym/fitness centre portion.

The local high school uses this gym, and certain sections are reserved for them at certain times of day. I understand they need somewhere to exercise too, but it s very annoying when you have to line up behind teenagers to use a machine.

It s expensive for what you get. This location does not have towels/locks, so you re basically paying 50-70 for a medium-sized, busy gym.

Nice facility with lots of activities but parking in the wrong sector means a long walk.

Daycare for teens and old Indian men hard to hear yourself think

Well managed place with all recreational activities specially all type of sports. There is a big place for Jumma prayer.

License plate got stolen in the parking lot some time between 12pm noon to 5pm - during broad daylight on a Saturday. Security officer said one of their employees' plate was stolen the week prior. I would hope they do something about this, or add extra security cameras/staff to patrol the area, but no. There are 2 security cameras and they were going to review the footage and let me know but I have not heard back since. Shame that the Genesis is a multi-activities facility but I'd be worrying about my car the next time I'm there! Just want everyone to know this can happen to them if they park there.

It's a very nice place. Here, we can find many different sports and activities to practice and for our kids. We have the Public Library inside and there's lots of another rooms for many different kinds of events. I love this place!

Very clean, spacious, and friendly staff. My girls love it. They've attended softball clinics and taekwondo tournaments.

Little Crowded most of the times. Needs expansion with rising population. Otherwise good.

One of the very few places you can have all the facilities like library, support services, gym etc. I love this place

There was a big gathering for Eid prayer in Genesis Centre. We always had really good experience as we usually go for the earliest namaz!! Parking was never an issue...lots of slots were available..... They manage it really well!!

was there for townhall, not enough food for breakfast and eggs were burnt dont do meetings here!

Excellent place, has all the amenities, pool, multiple courts, kitchen, boys and girl clubs, library its a full center that's for sure. I would recommend it to anyone, very affordable, and the staff are friendly, a great place to meet people and get involved in the community with different types of engagements.

The must place to visit for every parent with young kids. They have so much to offer.

Always nice to go work out then hit the hot tub/steam room! They have a rock climbing wall, a Calgary public library, basketball courts, excellent change rooms and a common room to sit in.

Integrated facility providing sports, education and library services under one roof. Floors are mosaic but we'll maintained.
Library is a bit overcrowded and has very limited quiet areas however facilities are superb no doubt about that.

Went there for a meeting first time being there. It's nice good place for family activities if you need your kids to burn off some energy

Always bustling with activity. There's frequent events hosted in this building. And this building has a library, ymca and a gym in the basement. It's a great central hub for activities.

This is literally the local hub, housing the library, ymca, 1000 voices, wellness and recreation centres and so much more!

Beautiful building, with lots of different programmes going on all the time.

Beautiful place.Lots of stuffs to do. The 1000 voices has lots of activities for immigrants. The library is also a good place to take kids to.

Nice area for community hangout but too many events not enough time for paid members to use facility

I used to love coming here until I had the misfortune of dealing with several racist, homophobic, and just generally rude employees and volunteers. I would never want to come here again if it weren't for the library (which is actually staffed very well and I always have a great experience in)
Very disappointed with Genesis and the discrimination it supports :(

Lots of space and plenty of room for rec. Too bad it is far from easy transit

Very friendly staff, always helpful.I like to go watch my kids play soccer in the big field. It s a very useful public place .Nice and warm in the cold winters.

Security inside YMCA isn't good enough but other then that its a good community center

The indoor soccer field is awesome. Having a library, rock climbing wall, pool, and gymnasium gives a lot of options for recreation. Personally, I find that the swimming pools can be rather crowded. They always have events in the lobby so it's nice to see different cultures in Calgary.

Very good recreational centre adept with several activities to keep oneself physically, mentally and spiritually healthy.

Good place to come for a full shopping experience. The place gets especially crowded on friday nights, holidays and around Christmas time so make sure to come early to find parking. Best for their hospitable staff, very accommodating, and very smiling.

Genesis centre is one of biggest community centre around the city .
They have designated indoor sports areas for badminton ,hockey, volley ball,swimming and lots .
You can have access to library aswell for free and can use computers with internet and printers.
Great help specially for students.
Membership is around $35 to $45 monthly and can have $5 pass for a day.
Great place to socialise and stay fit.
They have cafeteria aswell.
Everything is maintained real good .
Would highly recommend this place

Great place with friendly staff. Perfect to stop in for a quick steam bath and hot tub while the kids attend lessons.

It is a great place to take the family.
In the main floor there is a swimming pool a full size basketball court and a public library. Downstairs there are two large indoor soccer fields, four basketball courts and I believe four badminton courts. So you can find something for everyone. I find the swimming pool a little on the small side, it gets crowded,. Overall though it is a nice place to spend the winter days of Calgary.

A very good place for the students, elderly people and also for the children.

Good indoor space for kids to play including library

During my overnight stay in one of the washrooms, I met David Logoones' neighbour who was explaining to me about this golf course he enjoys not on Sunday's but instead Saturdays.

David Logoone works at a bank that is known as the Royal Bank of Canada where Dan deposited $180.00 of his father's money which he got from his long-lost dad Harriet.

Moreover, the type of shawarma that I devoured last night was almost as good as the deep conversations Ms. Johnson and I have in Change Room 4 at the Genesis Centre of Community Wellness.

I have been in the change room 4 many times dipping from gym 100.

My excellent counselor gave me advice on how to change from physcics 40-1 by sending the email to Mr. Hugh. He pic kded me up in his van and took me to value village to buy life of pi for $2. Then he hopped arpund calgary to find

Great place but needs to be a bit bigger since it's always crowded

Probably the best community centre in Calgary!! As someone who is an avid dancer and supporter of the urban arts scene its hard to find somewhere like that in Calgary. But at Genesis the staff are super friendly and are always welcoming dancers to come and use the space to practice for free! The other amenities around are also really cool. 1000 Voices, a Jugo Juice, YMCA, and public library are all within the building. Great centre with great people!
