I have not worked with Mr. Cohen himself but I hired one of his associates for my case.
She advised me to sign a contract (and was pushy about it) even though the terms were outrageous. I m not a legal expert, but something did not feel right.
I went to another lawyer for a second opinion and it turns out the contract wasn t even valid! Signing it would have lost me over $100K! He told me to beware of a lawyer who would give such poor legal advice and representation. Make sure to go one of the top guys and not an associate, especially at a place like this.
Later when collecting payment, she was very aggressive and rude. She asked for my credit card info and bombarded me with phone calls within 6 hours even though I always had trouble getting in touch with her before and never missed a payment. They want billable hours but are not on your side. You just lost a client.

Did a buy and sell with Cohen Law
On the buy, we had a Friday 2pm meeting, my wife and I had taken the time from work. At 2:50 they cancelled the meeting and moved it to Monday, they didn t ask about our availability, just did it. Even when the meeting happened our lawyer was misinformed on the closing date and I was forced to drive the documents to their office same day, again, without concern for our schedule.
On the sale they had been sent incorrect instructions from our bank. I called within 5 minutes of receiving them and told them to wait for new instructions from the bank. They ignored our instructions and just sent our money with no concern for our asks. We had to wait weeks to get the penalty back from the bank.
All the while not a hint of concern or service while we spent over 3k with the firm.
I was looking for a good lawyer and they did not fit the bill. I wouldn t recommend Cohen Law to anyone.

Max and his firm took a longer time than I feel was necessary to finalize the paperwork for our condo closing Feb 2017. He or his paralegal also kept forgetting to set up an appt regarding the lien and I had to remind him twice. His paralegal sent us a rude message telling us we had to be out of the condo by noon when they told us they wouldn't be handing over the keys to the new owner until 4-5 pm and we already dropped off a set of keys days before. She made us feel like criminals. Then when we found out we were sold a defective unit, Max's attitude towards us changed as he didn't want to deal with it since he made his money on us. While he offered to send a notification letter to the previous owner letting them know we would be demanding payment for deficiencies he neglected to disclose, when we followed up, Max ignored us going forward. This letter that he agreed to write would have taken him little time but would help us greatly with trying to recover our money. However, Max chose to ignore us since the letter would have produced a minimal income for him compared to what he made on us for closing costs. I do not recommend Max Cohen if you want efficient legal services and a lawyer who cares about your relationship, not just making money and moving on.

I have used Cohen LLP over the past 15 years for 7 closings and assistance with speculative property purchases. Our last home purchase was very tricky with tight closing deadlines and issues on the date of close with the seller. Cohen was able to prioritize the team to timely address critical risk areas, the seller being #1. The result, our home purchase was closed on the agreed date and we received our keys end of day. Should the closing had been delayed, we would not had received our keys, causing a domino effective impacting the next day move, storage facility, telecommunications setup, temporary help and costing us addition money to fund the delay.
