Nice parking garage, not too high a rate and your car is in good and safe condition. Good location close to exit options & shopping options.

Moderate ... handy that you can schedule appointments online so you don't have to wait. The Municipality is trying to do its best, but in my opinion they build Houten too full, while facilities like the library are then reduced ... Houten is also a very expensive municipality.

Houten is the cycling city of the Netherlands because of the unique traffic system in which the bicycle has priority. Now one of the municipalities in the province who. participates in a project to allow cyclists to collect measurement data on air quality, particulate matter and road surface by means of a box with sensor, linked to an app. Citizen participation now!

Houten profiles itself as a cycling city, they don't find other road users interesting. Pedestrians in particular have bad luck, I only know 1 pedestrian crossing and sidewalks are not present or in very bad condition. In any case, the traffic policy at the municipality seems to be run by people who don't seem to know anything. The parking policy is also really a drama in the 3 centers. Complete disinterest for the citizen at the town hall.

The Municipality of Houten has many faces. The place itself is well worth a visit with its shopping center Het Rond and Castellum.
But also in terms of nature, you can enjoy the Nieuw Wulven area with a beautiful play forest for the children,
just north of the place.
And then we have the villages on Het Eiland van Schalkwijk, Tull and 'tWaal. Schalkwijk and Honswijk with the famous fortress, and much more.

Houten is mainly concerned with Houten itself, the villages around Houten and which also belong to the municipality are a kind of worm-shaped appendix.
