Gaughan Companies Review

My experience with Sunrise Court in Cambridge has been extremely negative. After reading all the bad reviews now, it's no surprise. There is very poor communication with this company. Over the course of a year renting, I had 3 different property managers, all of which ignored my work orders I submitted. I knew when moving out with a different landlord than I moved in with, that I was going to get screwed over in the move out process. TAKE PICTURES when moving in, and make copies of every contract you sign and ask for a receipt for every payment you submit. To get my full amount back, I was asked to clean things that the original manager did not even look at, i.e. scrubbing behind the stove and under the fridge, which I gladly obliged to do in order to get my full amount back. After 2 months of getting the run around, leaving voicemails with "managers" who never responded to my voicemails I left, I finally got through to them to send me my security deposit, only to see they shorted me 130 dollars, even though I did everything the property manager told me to in the final walk-through in order to get the full amount. After what I just went through to get the amount I did, I'm not even going to try to get another rest of the deposit. I'd rather just be done dealing with this company. Over the course of the year I rented, I submitted 5 work orders to fix the dishwasher, put a lock on the patio door, and to simply put a screen door on patio door as there never was one. We got no response ever from these work orders and was stunned when at the final walk-through, the property manager said I was "lucky" he had an extra screen door just sitting around, otherwise I would've been charged to install a new one, even though I asked for one ALL YEAR. I'm not even going to get into the changing of locks without behind told, the lost checks, and the eviction notices I received after paying rent on time every month. I highly recommend potential renters look elsewhere to rent from. These scam artists will do anything to get your money, without doing anything for you in return. Do not give Gaughan Companies your business.

Gaughan Companies community management department has been extremely beneficial to our town home association. Our community manager, Kari Ross has been the best manager we have had in 12 years and helped our board be able to do major repairs in the association, perform upgrades, and still keep association dues for our owners reasonable. I highly recommend Kari and Gaughn for management of home owner associations!

I live in townhomes managed by them. We had tree fallen , its been sitting in our yard for weeks! They haven't had anyone come or call to get this taken care of. We have emailed and called and no returned any of emails or phone calls. So frustrating and very unprofessional. But reading others reviews. I am now not surprised. Then they responded with please call us. WHY SO YOU DON'T CALL BACK?? I have been calling so don't respond to this review please contact us. Because that's a joke. This is what my review is , you don't respond to anything

Terrible company. Exceedingly poor communication. Sending information about current leases to former tenants so it never gets to the people who need to see it. Manipulative. High turnover. Failure to notify tenants of issues with their property before beginning punitive processes.

Family owned, honest and trust worthy. Highly recommended.

Jessica Kaczrowski with Gaughan Companies is great! She is very friendly and always willing to help with problem or concern. Jessica and Gaughan have done a great job managing the Water's Edge Association.

Now, usually I wouldn't say this, but if it were possible to give a negative star review, I would. The apartment complexes we are in the process of moving out of have been under terrible supervision. There have been numerous notes sent to the manager about a flea infestation, and a bed bug infestation in the complexes but never once have we had pest control visit into the units that have an infestation. We have never had a carpet cleaner visit the apartments, which legally is supposed to be done when new tenants arrive, especially with all of the pest infestations. And as a result we had friends who discovered bed bugs in their home that were there 5 months before they moved into the unit, and had to hire their OWN bug guy to inspect how long they had been there ext, because they did not have the proper cleaning done to them after the old tenants left.. Gaughan DOES NOT inform you 24 hours before entering your unit, they simply knock ONE time then proceed to enter into your unit yelling, "Gaughan." I have had to run into a closed off room neumorous times because they enter with little to no warning when I'm almost completely nude, and again with NO WRITTEN warnings 24 hours prior to them entering my home. We have had at least 3 different managers over the last year, and a great length of time with NO MANAGER while they spent months trying to fill in the next replacement. I highly recommended looking into a different company to rent from because these guys are an absolute nightmare.

Visited my daughter n son in law twice a year for the last 3 years. She was a property manager for this company and resided in one of the complexes.
She always was available 24/7. I've seen her work on her vacation days as the co called n said she would not be able to use as they needed her. On phone constantly solving problems.
She put her job in front of everything. Awesome work ethics.
Was fired with no review. No warnings. Also her sister was employed there was fired the same day (on their birthday no less). Given 10 days to move out of the apartment. Which was paid for by the family. Not the company. No job. No pay but u are out on the street. I have never seen or heard of something like this happening to VERY loyal employees.
Watch your back if u are employees here. Very backstabbing employees and management.

Great company to rent from, for over 7 years I've raised my 3 kids. The management is very responsive. Angelica at Gentry Townhomes is always available and you constantly see her roaming the property making sure everything is clean.

We have lived here for just a few months and been complaining to management about jumping, running, around of the people upstairs. They literally sound like a herd of elephants all day and night long. Management is doing NOTHING about it. They tell us that they are talking to them, but they still jump and run around until midnight or later. I need some sleep my day starts at 230am. I am to the point that I wish I NEVER moved in here. They also still haven't done the repairs in my apartment that were supposed to be done before we moved in.

I have worked with Gaughan Companies for several years. I have found their property managers to be knowledgeable and professional. I have had the opportunity to work extensively with Kari Ross and a number of associations that she manages. Kari is very professional and responsive to the needs of her associations. Kari handles difficult situations (and people) very well and always with a smile.

Not professional at all. Doesnt return phone calls. Dont rent from them! Their oakdale apartments screwed me over. Took all my security deposit money. Charged me another three hundred again. Sent my money order within the 30 days. Next month, got a letter from debt collectors. Asking to pay another three hundred dollar. They try screwing me over even more! Took pictures of proof of my reciept. And even showed them! Took them weeks to get back to me. Got everything resolved though. My review! Dont do business with them. They will try to screw you over!!! Honest truth!

They truly stand behind their rules of dignity, respect, honesty & so much more. The property managers are outstanding, helpful and truly go above and beyond for all of us to be successful at our jobs. The support has been amazing. We have rented space with Gaughan Companies from over 14 years. They have been extremely responsive with any needs we have ever had. Over the years, we have expanded our relationship with them and now use them regularly as a commercial property broker and for build out construction as we open more offices throughout the Twin Cities. We've worked with a number of their employees and consistently receive great service. We highly recommend them as a property manager, broker and construction company.

This is the worst management company in the world currently being forced to sue for the second time!!!
Do not get in bed with them unless you have the capital to afford an attorney because I 100% guarentee you will need one if you want what you'll be paying for and even then who knows... didn't work for me the first time. I'll update again after this new lawsuit is finished.

Gaughan Companies is a multi-faceted firm that is always looking to get their projects done on time while keeping to the budget. I deal with a lot of contractors that have worked with Gaughan and I have never heard any complaints on how they run their business and projects.

The staff is very knowledgeable. They went to great lengths to help me out.

They are not understanding I have paid rent on time and there still crabby towards you not professional at all .We have tried to contact Brook and 2 other people that the receptionist forwarded us to. We have been waiting for a returned phone call since the middle of December. The only time we have heard any reply is on this review. We have since tried calling the number you posted and left numerous messages. Can someone please return our calls so we can resolve this please. Thank you

The site manager Angelica at Gentry Townhomes is absolutely amazing! She is very kind and very helpful with everything. She truly cares about her residents and her property.

I work with Gaughan on two fronts: I lease space for my office from them, and I work with their HOA division since we specialize in insuring associations. In both cases their responsiveness is super! We don't have to ask twice for anything!

Gaughan Companies are on time, good workmanship and are budget conscience.

Very professional organization. Great staff to work with. They understand the markets and the business environment and they know how to get things done.

The women they have hired to run individual properties are terrible awful bitter drunks. They bully residents who have done nothing wrong. Headquarters needs to overthrow everything going on at The Village. They brainwash employees there and have them doing more work than they should. They will lie to headquarters to hide this. They prey off peoples desperation for work and a place to live. If you go many places in the metro managers are professional, running things smoothly and being kind. This is not the case here. These women have no other life then their job and they want everyone as miserable as them. Its abusing authority and when tenants are supposidly rebelling against managament. Its because management is abusive and giving good people a reason to be upset. They chew out good tentants at random just for power and control and lie over and over to their bosses just to keep their work. Its super sad to see this happening to residents paying so much money just to live in a dump and get treated so badly.

Disgusting! You attack a single mother, a nurse, who is trying to work out a payment plan because she is three months behind on her association dues because of a medical setback. You've decided to take her to court, even though she has contacted you numerous times for help. You are now trying to collect 4x the deliquent amount. This is the only debt she owes, but yet you will force her into bankruptcy. Shame on you!

I have worked in the construction business for over 10 years and have never come across the likes of Joe Bain, he was the most helpful, hands on project manager I have personally ever worked with! Every call I made, every question I had was answered quickly and completely. All of our bumps in the road were handled personally by Joe which is rare in this industry and his presence on the job site made our project seem like a real priority to a large company like Gaughan.

This company is horrible do not rent from any of there apartment complexes they ate the worst

I highly recommend Gaughan Companies. They are an excellent company filled with exceptional team members. My company and I have had the privilege to work mostly with Kari Ross, Community Manager for Gaughan Companies at WEC in Hugo for the last three years. She has been great to work with throughout WEC's retaining wall reconstruction projects. She is a true professional and I can depend on her to communicate information about our projects to the various boards and communities. Gaughan Companies prides themselves with not only providing great service but also building strong relationships with their contractors.

Unresponsive, nothing fixed in apartment since moved in 11 months ago, but hey they want more rent to renew lease lol.

I have lived in the Gentry Place Apartments in Oakdale for little over a year now. It was okay at first, but now management is lacking very badly. Not only do I not receive a phone call back when I call or when i send a text to the managers phone about any issues. I try to give the company a call, given the run around. No one seems to have it together. It is getting very ridiculous.

I live at an apartment owned by them, and they are the worst company to live under. No on site manager, every person has a key to our apartment, they come in whenever they want, no notice and no permission, they steal from people, they don t fix anything, they raise rent randomly, and they don t do anything about anything. Never will I live in a another apartment owned by Gaughan Companies ever again!

I have never lived in a condo community so screwed up. WE have had 4 managers in 8 years. They think they can do what they want. They hire the worst contractors, cleaning crew, and staff.

I need to move.

We have worked with Gaughan Association Management for the last 3 years. They have been outstanding in helping our homeowners association through some very difficult situations. Gaughan managers and staff have been very knowledgeable, professional, and supportive to our board and homeowners. The Gaughan Institute training sessions for board members have been hugely beneficial as well. Highly recommend.

I've leased space for my business from the Gaughan Company for many years and honestly do not have a single complaint. If something goes wrong or if I need something, my requests are taken care of very quickly, and I am always made to feel that my needs are important. One of the very best landlords I've had in the nearly 25 years of my business! Highly recommend them!

Where is the negative star's!! Cause this company needs a couple of them!!! I live in Sandy pine's apartment. And I have more than once payed my rent with money orders and have been given eviction notice saying that owe. When that's not the case!!! I have the stub's from the money orders!!! Where is my money going!!! Who is the man or woman in charge and why don't they ever give there name so we know who to ask for!!!

No one wants to post something negative, but it really needs to be done in this situation. From the start, the owner acted as a tyrant to employees he didn't like, especially the ones that didn't fit a type. Anyone that worked there tolerates it because it seems like such a fantastic job for those that live around this area of Forest Lake, but we all questioned if it was worth it. We saw him verbally abuse employees in front of others. Demote employees off hearsay while destroying their character to all that would listen and then send in his staff to fire others that did nothing wrong because he couldn't do it himself.

Working at Gaughan felt as though you were walking a tightrope, not sure which way you would end up with any step. The work culture finally improved for a while, a few years actually, but the owner started a relationship with one of his employees half his age, and everything everyone worked so hard for quickly deteriorated. I hate writing anything negative about anyone, but this situation is nothing but purely toxic. It's disgusting the amount of control he has allowed this young woman to possess. So many loyal and hardworking employees he had but allowed her to let go, because they somehow landed in her way, or disagreed with her need to control and meddle in everything.

She is so power-hungry that she will scratch and climb her way to the top; however, she sees fit, and he stands there and backs all of it. There are so many wonderful employees at Gaughan still that deserve so much better. But, BEWARE, there is "the manipulator of ALL manipulators" lurking in the corner, waiting to take out anyone. Just disagree with her, and you'll see what happens. I wonder what the owner will do if & when he ends up on the wrong side of her? Either way, I do not see how that would end well for him because it appears she has him and his company right where she wants them. I pray he wakes up soon.

I have worked as a technician at many of the Gaughan properties. They are always great about making decisions to keep the properties in good shape.

Do not rent from this company! I dealt with them for 18 years I could tell stories all day long, read the reviews on their rental properties, notice all the good reviews are from employees or vendors. STAY AWAY!!!

I have worked with Gaughan for a few years as a vendor for their association management. They are fantastic at claims management!

Had to deal with some of the most currupt and intolerable property managers anyone could imagine while living in Shalimar estates. Thank God I don't ever have to see or deal with Wendy hammer again. The women in the forest lake office aren't any better. Good luck to anyone thinking of moving into a gaughn owned property.

My property manager, Bonnie, at northern oaks is the best landlord I ve ever had!! Need something done? Boom! She s taken care of it. Have a question? Boom she finds an answer right away. She s super sweet, nice, honest and a very hard worker. Couldn t ask for a better landlord!!!

Funny how all the 5 stars are from CURRENT employees! Is Gaughan paying you to do that? Seems pretty shady to have your employees rate your business. All this company cares about is collecting your money. Nothing will get fixed, your safety is no concern to them, no one has answers to anything, rent is overpriced, drug addicts galore, and forget about ever seeing your deposit again.
