We had a great experience with the salesman and design team when we decided to choose GARRETT to build our new house. John was a very nice and honest man to work with and Karen was fun and helpful in the design. Had a large hick-up with permitting and the county and GARRETT worked with us on an extended timeframe. Scott was an awesome project manager and the build went ahead of schedule even though we had a lot of weather issues throughout the winter during construction. My garage floor is separated from one side to the other and my front sidewalk was cracked before I even moved in. I work in construction, my father was a contractor and my mother s family business is concrete. Pouring concrete is also part of what I do at work so I understand concrete cracks but the cracks I have are from lack of compaction and poor quality work. We are working with Garrett to come up with a solution for the garage floor issues.

This is a great company. Be aware their process is not a typical custom experience. They make this clear as you're educated in their seminars and become familiar with their process. Their structure eliminates thousands of details buyers typically have to shoulder in a "custom" build. This is why we chose Garrette!
Buyers are provided a comprehensive program which helps in choosing from various floor plans and designs. Modification options, with various construction and showroom selection upgrades are allowed, but limited to help remove the daunting task and cost of a true custom home build.
The structured approach and assisted planning we found helpful. The sales and building manager rep were exceptional. During the process our concerns were listened to and reasonably addressed.
Garrette is professional, reliable and honorably stands behind their quality promise. When delivered quality by a sub-contractor was less than expected, the need for correction was acknowledged and addressed. They work together with you to ensure your home meets quality and design expectations.
Be careful and diligent in learning their structured process. Communicate clearly desires with your design consultant as you make showroom choices. Together with the design consultant, we made some mistakes, corrections for which Garrette helped, but also for which we had to appropriately share the corrective costs.

My wife and I built a custom home in Central Point, where we lived for 35 years. We loved that home and thought that would be where we lived the rest of our days. After our eldest grandchildren moved away with our youngest son and daughter-in-law to Portland, we were compelled to follow them. As much as we both loved our previous home, we love our new Garrette Custom Home (GCH) far more!
All of the master-on-main floor plans that GCH offers are well-designed, welcoming and very livable. Their Shasta XXL was perfect for us. The living space that we would mostly enjoy is all on the first floor. The second floor provides us with a second private master bedroom, a media room, a computer desk nook and a bonus room. It is such a perfect place for guests to stay that we are hopeful our eldest son, daughter-in-law and youngest grandson will visit us more and stay longer.
While I surmise that it complicated construction for GCH, my wife and I were allowed to make several design changes that suited our lifestyle, such as; a separate RV garage & shop, a sun room with panoramic doors on opposing sides and a completely redesigned guest master bathroom. There were many other less involved changes which GCH also allowed, such as; framing out for a wall safe, cabinetry modifications and fits & finishes throughout the house. Lastly, after having already received a site plan building permit, GCH allowed us to reposition the home in order to maximize the view from our 5-acre property of four mountains; Mount Rainer, Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams and Mount Hood. Even though this threw a monkey wrench into their construction schedule, GCH put our needs ahead of theirs.
All of the GCH personnel who we had the privilege and pleasure of consulting while our home was designed and constructed are courteous, knowledgeable professionals who provided outstanding advice and expertise throughout the entire construction process. GCH personnel had transformed a 30 acre hayfield on top of Bald Peak into 6 custom homes on 5-acre parcels in less than 1 year start to finish. It was amazing to witness.
After construction was completed, my wife and I were presented at our new home with keys and a sign that read simply Welcome Home! Perfect!
We worked with Karen King in the design studio for the internal design options. We really appreciate she has a very effective process to guide us through the myriad of decisions. She is a great listener and facilitator when my husband and I had different preferences. We are very happy with the overall experience and feel happy and confident about our decisions. We are eager to see the final product a few months from now.
My husband and I are currently working with Pacific Lifestyle Homes and Garrette Custom Home Builders to build our new home in southern Washington. From the very first consultation to choosing the design finishes, they have been absolutely great to work with.
Our first encounter was with John who we met with to discuss the process and different home models and floor plans. We were immediately impressed with his candor and honesty. This is our first time building a home vs. buying and there are so many things to consider. He was very upfront and honest from the beginning so that we would not be blindsided by costs and roadblocks along the way. Since then, he has been extremely helpful when we do have questions and has been a pleasure to work with. He is very down-to-earth and has helped us design the structure of our home thoughtfully, while still remaining within our budget. We would recommend John to work with for sure to anyone who has the chance.
Next came our appointment at the Pacific Lifestyle Homes Design Studio in Vancouver to choose our finishes and it was AWESOME. We met with Karen who was fantastic! First , I also want to add in here that they are working through COVID-19 restrictions and still making sure that clients are able to get in for appointments safely, taking all needed precautions and keeping up the utmost professionalism. Additionally, I want to add that my husband and I are currently temporarily living in the Bay area just outside of San Francisco, so getting this all done has been a challenge in itself, but again, they have done everything they can to keep us moving forward. In traveling for this trip, we were unable to find a dogsitter and we had to bring our 4 dogs. The day of our appointment was at least 90 degrees. Our intention was to leave our car locked and running with the AC on, leave lots of water and check on them every 20-30 minutes or so during our 4 hour appointment because we didn't have any other choice. Karen was amazing and made an exception for us due to the extreme heat and allowed them to come in with us for our appointment. I do not believe this is normal practice because this is a business and dogs can be messy. But she wanted to make sure they were okay and safe and made this allowance for us. Luckily, we do have very well behaved dogs and they proceeded to sleep while we conducted our appointment. I cannot begin to express how much this meant to us. This gesture alone spoke volumes as to not only the person that Karen is, but also the company itself looking out for us and our dogs who are our family.
Now for the appointment itself. Karen was very methodical and went through everything with us. She showed us the finishes that are included in the base price of the home and all the options we can upgrade to. She knew we had a budget we wanted to keep in line with, but also of course wanted to design a beautiful house and she did not disappoint at all. Karen is very well versed in all the products and reasons why or why not to choose them. For instance, we have 4 dogs, so hard wood was not our best choice, but she was able to direct us through the various laminates and tiles that will hold up much better and helped us find the perfect solution. She then helped us find the best matching colors and patterns for cabinetry, backsplash, carpet, etc... We wanted to maximize our efforts on the kitchen and master bath and she used her wizardry to help us find the beauty we were looking for, but also keeping within our money goals. She is extremely knowledgeable and helpful in guiding us on where our money is best invested. Karen is a design master, a true professional and also a great human being.
I could go on for days about this appointment. When we left there, we knew we were with the right company, that we had made the right decision to go with PLH and GCH, and we are genuinely excited about this build.
We are sorry to say that we did not have a good experience with Garrett custom homes. Our site manager and construction supervisor were nice guys unfortunately nice doesn t fix or address problems.
We upgraded appliances very expensive and found nothing but issues. In the first two years we have had to replace the microwave and I ve had to have the stove, refrigerator and dishwasher worked on five times. We also discovered after moving in that our upgraded appliances were discontinued products.
The gas fireplace is for looks only as you get very little heat and it is so loud in the high setting the noise is irritating The home warranty is worthless and Garrett does not stand behind the products.
The main water line coming into the house was installed improperly And burst at the street. Garrett fixed
The drainage system was installed improperly, when it rained our yard flooded the neighbors driveway. We had to pay to have the system reinstalled properly.
The gutters on the house were installed improperly and water flowed over the edge like a waterfall. We paid out of pocket to have the downspouts fixed. Garett also sent someone out but the problem wasn t corrected.
The sub roofing had huge gaps when they installed it and when we complained instead of taking it off and fixing the way it should have been. They cut boards to fill in the gaps.
The subs threw food, chicken bones, Half eaten burritos, all over the house and yard while working. That created or encouraged a huge ant problem. We complained and were told they would spray for the ants and talk to the subs. Nothing changed and after we moved in we had aunts in the closets, bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, we had to call an exterminator to get rid of them.
The gas meter on the side of our house exploded we do not have an explanation for what happened.
The subs framed a closet around a bedroom window, which was not part of the original plans. After complaining they tore it out and framed according to our building plans.
When we addressed an issue we were labeled difficult. The process was difficult and horribly stressful for us. We tried to address issues in a professional manner but there were just so many major building issues we had to address that we grew weary of the task .
We would not choose this builder again based on the building experience, Not on the finished product.
Our suggestion would be if you do, STAY on top of what they are doing on site. Make sure your design choices are written and signed for. Go out and talk to people that are living in a Garett custom home today. Ask them how they felt about the building process with Garett.
Ultimately we do have a beautiful home and we learned a great deal about building. I feel by staying involved many more problems were alleviated.
A am very satisfied with the home I had built from Garrette Custom Homes. It is a beautiful home with a great floor plan. All around the service was exceptional. We hope this is the home we will stay in for years. I would highly recomend this floor plan to any one considering building a ranch style home.
We were very pleased with our experience with Garrett Homes/Pacific Lifestyle Homes. I like the quality of the finish work and the extra perks like the alarm system. They kept us informed thoughout the process and Alan, our construction supervisor was great to work with. Lesa was always very helpful, informative and friendly. All in all, it was a very good experience and we do recommend them to any other home buyers. Plus they finished ahead of schedule!
A lot of their products are very expensive, especially the hardwood floors and carpet. Get the basic items that come with your home and then upgrade after you close your loan. You will save a lot of money.
The process of building a house was a very nice experience through GCH. They are organized and done it nicely. We have moved in for almost two years, always enjoy this place very much. And, no matter what I need for help. Lesa always very supportive to provide any info. Great service!

Absolutely the worst customer service. Mark, I believe, told me three times how he had no time to talk today and just wanted to email stuff to read versus answer my questions. Then, he disconnected the call after I politely declined the information. Unprofessional.

After looking through seemingly countless home plans, and researching many local builders, ranging from lower level "On Your Lot" builders, to higher end full-custom builders, we selected Garrette Custom Homes to build our new home. We had a specific vision for our new home, and GCH had a floor plan we thought was just what we wanted. We were able to tour the exact model of our home GCH had recently built in another city, and the tour of the home was our "this is it" moment.
We engaged with the sales team, who assisted us on the front end with a high-level costs estimate, then guided us through the entire process and served as a central contact throughout our build process. Our sales team member was patient and informative from start to finish.
Working with their design team selecting finishes was a lot of fun, and we thoroughly enjoyed this process. The design team paid close attention to our vision, and made recommendations to help us get the look we wanted in our new home.
Onto the build process - our superintendent was spectacular. We had some early challenges with our existing site improvements he was able to provide guidance on, and provided frequent progress updates throughout the build.
In all, we were handed the keys to our new home on time and within budget. We're happy with our new home, and would recommend others looking to build check out the product GCH has to offer.
I'm sure they build high quality homes, however, we have yet to hear back from anyone. We were ready to put down the deposit to get our land checked out, but they didn't seem interested in us. Looking to build on our 5 acres and were really interested in several floor plans.
We found another builder, much more excited to build our home.
We had our new home built by Pacific Lifestyle. I like the design of the house very much with the high ceiling and the picture windows. The living space was well planed to make them practically utilized. Good quality of materials were used. The associates who helped us during the building process were very helpful and responsive to our questions and concerns.
Personnel at Garrette are helpful creative professional and work hard to give new homeowner best custom features at good values! Kudos to John, Scott and Lesa for their excellence of service!
