Well..... the electricity bill for the apartment was expensive average (2 bed, 1 bath), did not complaint for this, 2 adults, 2 kids. We had to leave the apartment, but did not vacate it because the rental agreement, I used to go to the apartment for the weekends for the last two months of the agreement. The strange thing is that the electricity bill has higher than when we were living there. I called asking for an explanation, they were so rude, and told me that I have to pay no matter what. I did pay, but... PLEASE IF YOU CAN... STAY AWAY FROM Garland Power & Light.

They make you pay $550 dollars upfront if you are an out of state resident moving there. You have to setup multiple logins just to view and pay your bill. Then you get charged just to pay your bill online. Nothing like a monopoly poorly run by the government.

We have NEVER lost our power so many times as we have since we moved to Garland. Get ready for expensive bills and outages every 30 days!! Do yall even change the parts when they go out?! I just don't understand!! The wind blows too hard and our power is out!!! Get it together or quit holding us hostage and allow people to choose their own electric provider!! This is absolutely ridiculous!!

Archaic payment systems with no online method of setting up auto pay. Outage reporting is all automated, outage map doesn't work. Reported an outage, after an hour a crew was assigned. Texted back for update and their system informed me there weren't any reported outages for my location. Reported again by text and was told the case was awaiting crew assignment again. Tried calling to see what was going on but automated system just says an outage is already reported and hangs up.

I just got a visit from a technician saying that my power is going to be out for 3 hours because they have to replace a transformer. No advanced notice. I work from home, so that is unacceptable. Every review on here stating that this company has a monopoly is completely correct. They don't have to care about customer satisfaction since they're guaranteed to keep our business. Outrageous prices to boot.

I have been a customer for over 27 years and same account...Yes the prices are a little high but I will take that in heartbeat compared to other companies...when there is an EMERGENCY they are the 1st ones there to help get services restored ASAP...other companies take their damn sweet time...so eventually you get what you pay for...Thank you Garland Power and light for being a great electric Company!!

GP&L I ve only lived in Garland a little over a year. I ve had several outages. The longest outages have happened during the hottest parts of the Summer. There s nothing residents can do and we get no updates on the progress of solving the issues if it falls on a weekend (both long outages have been on weekends). GP&L thank goodness I only rent in Garland, and haven t bought a house here.
