Was on a five-course that was well-set, worth the money
Great hotel in old ambience with excellent restaurant
The suite was very nice, with jacuzzi, coffee machine, two sinks etc .. Good breakfast! :)
The steak was decent and therefore 2 stars. It tasted a little scorched. Otherwise not something you get full of for 400, -
The potatoes were cold, one of the staff was uninterested and seemed like she hated her job. She was very gentle when we had to pay otherwise.
There were 3 people who asked if we were happy with the food, something we were stunned and noticed.
The venue is nice, but the outdoor glass section is cozy at Christmas time. Luckily we changed places. However, it was cold throughout the room.
Very central location. The rooms are of decent size. The place is old and has kept a lot of the atmosphere from the past. The decor of the rooms were however bordering on just being run-down and worn rather than antique. Everything was clean and neat though. The food in the restaurant was rather uninspired and my deer was overcooked whereas my partners steak was very raw even though we asked for medium. Friendly staff, though they seemed a bit jittery and inexperienced. For the price we paid (3000 NOK for one night with dinner and breakfast) I was expecting more.
I found a good deal for this hotel which was some 700NKR cheaper than other hotels. Check in was a little slow at first as I didn't see the button to summon the staff - the restaurant was very busy being the week before Christmas. After that, it was slick and I was quickly in my room. The corridors are spartan and the room is best described as rustic, tying in with the hotel name which means 'Old Workshop' I was told. The room was spacious, warm and comfortable. Take a book as there wasn't much for non-English speakers on the telly. WiFi is freely available throughout the hotel.
I went back down to reception to see if I could eat in the busy restaurant. I was courteously told that there would be a short wait whilst a table was readied. I was shown a to a sofa and offered a glass of wine. The menu is in Norwegian, understandably, but my waitress was very helpful explaining it and the choice of the Christmas buffet. I opted for the lutefisk, a Norwegian specialty, and not something I had tried before. As it was served I was told that the chef would do me something else if I didn't like it, which was really generous. I did it and it wasn't so bad.
I had a good night's sleep and the buffet breakfast was excellent with many choices.
The hotel is just a couple of minutes from the railway station and the bus interchange but is also by the shops which have great displays and not one Primark to be seen!
Overall, a good stay with friendly and helpful staff and an excellent restaurant.Remember, this is Norway so will be more expensive than the UK. but to my mind was relatively good value
Don't book here if you need to sleep. Too much listening.
An overall great place. What pulls down is a somewhat tiring bathroom and huge untrained bartenders. The bedrooms were great. Breakfast too!
A super place with great premises and fantastic food! Recommended for casual meetings, romantic dinners and professional meetings.
Super food, friendly service, central location, pleasant premises.
Great food, great flavors, some poor service and control in the kitchen. The potatoes were aldente ....
Very good food, large portions and nice service. What more could one want?
Not quite top food, sparse with vegetables, or other accessories. Roasted tenderloin when desired was medium. Expensive.
So nice and wonderful place to be and veldig delicious food
A little late before anyone came and took the order. But the food was very good.
Terrific set "historic" menu, reasonable prices and wonderful food.
Really a nice hotel and pretty close to the center of sandnes
Ok coffee. Nice cinnamon buns/danishes. Norwegian staff (you know what that means)
Nice Hotel, extremely cozy, great service and beautiful food.
Always relaxed, good food / drink and good service!
This is the place for you who like that the story "lies in the walls". In addition, good food is served as well.
Excellent food in the restaurant. Very good service.
Cozy hotel in the heart of Sandnes. Good breakfast and good beds. Nice and smiling staff. Have booked rooms for next year. Can be recomended. Greetings Liv and Odd
The food was exceedingly good and reasonably priced.
A very cozy place. Nice customer service. Intimate. I sincerely recommend.
Nice place with history. Nice big rooms in old style. Centrally located by pedestrian zone and station. Super delicious breakfast in rustic rooms. The place also has a good restaurant.
Great food and drink. Staff could have been a bit more attentive
A bit messy breakfast but decent staff to float rooms
I was there for the restaurant and it tasted amazing. I really recommend the restaurant.
Weird hotel. If you're lucky, you get a nice room in a place with character. Else you get a drafty noisy and cold chamber with two creaky tiny beds that kills any sex drive you may have had.
The next 300 for steamed mussels is a little over expensive. And a simple burger for NOK 255.
Great food, and very decent price lots of exciting beers for us who like to try it
Ok food, ok price, ok service after ordering food and bad before, great premises.
The gang that works there always seems so happy and genuinely happy to cook and not the very worst coffee. Seems, however, the price of a funnel coffee is very expensive when you get properly brewed coffee at the espresso house for cheaper money
Good food and service .. should only clear the tables more often ..
Nice, cosy and good hotel and restaurant in old town! Very friendly staff
Great food and service! The use of paper cups for sauce on the dinner and dessert plates was a cheap solution that took the experience down a star. Further, the toilet seats needs a deep cleaning job(old stains), two star punishment!
One of towns only kafes. Feels bit how to put it, yes, boring.
Great little hotel in the heart of Sandnes. Nice staff and good breakfast. The 6 year old was very pleased too!
Had a really good deer steak with mashed potatoes and a red wine sauce with a nice fresh IPA from a norwegian brewery.
Be here on Christmas table. Very good food and good selection on the Christmas buffet. Something for every taste, vegetarian dish was also good. Bad with serving drinks / alcohol. Took a long time to get ordered and even longer before the drink came when you ordered from the wait staff. Went a little faster if you went to the bar yourself. Live music was one plus and created a great atmosphere.
Went here with my family to eat. The burger that I had was good, but some others were not that happy with the taste of their food. When we ordered, we had to wait very long before we got our food. The staff was nice and positive but because of the reasons stated above, this place is a 3 out of 5 in my opinion.
Nice local, nice service and good food. Going here again!
Best thing first. Love this place which is very nice.
However paid 99 NOK for a large pot of coffee which mainly tasted water. So water with Color.
