Awesome Awesome. Great food and service. Awesome views by the windows.
Visted for lunch and dinner, the brussel sprouts and cauliflower in hot sauce with the gorgonzola dipping sauce was delicious. I also had the Pork Chop for dinner and it was amazing. My other half didn't even gice me a chance to try his scallops; he said he loved those too. Can't wait to go back!
I would like to first say that we did not eat here. But I do want to talk about the atmosphere. It was creepy. It felt like my grandparents house. Wooden walls, no windows, weird paintings, and very very quiet talking staff. When we came in, the manager pulled is in, and the waiter took us to a back room with no one else in it. The atmosphere made me feel uncomfortable and not able to eat there without high amounts of anxiety. We did not eat the food, but from what we saw from others, it looked like very very small portions. I didn't like it.
What a great meal and service! Everything was delicious and Mark did well with his attention to our table and his recommendations.
I always loved this restaurant. I have been to Maine 3 to 4 times and had my meals there every time. The food is really good and the ambience is awesome but if you have big group then you probably get a table back of the restaurant. Otherwise this restaurant has an amazing harbor view and the park opposite. Always remember to plan and book a table otherwise average waiting time is 2 hours.
I cannot talk enough about the wonderful food and service. It is priced higher because of the excellent food. My twin lobsters were perfect.
We visited the bar for a drink and clam chowder. This is a nice up-scale restaurant with a very nice atmosphere. The clam chowder was really delicious and worth the trip alone to visit,
4 Stars - Really good and wouldn't mind returning
It had big portions but was way over priced. Everything looked nice but was bland. It was seafood for tourists that knew what seafood looks like but have never eaten it before.
We had an incredible dining experience at Galyns! Will definitely come back and ask for our charismatic and extremely attentive and entertaining server Martha. She took our dining experience to the next level as did the incredibly talented chef with his fresh halibut with arugula pesto.
This celery seed vinaigrette dressing was to die for on our fresh salads and since it was national cheesecake day we opted for a special slice of lemon cheesecake with fresh main blueberry topping. Decadent! This is a must dine destination when visiting The quaint village of Bar Harbor Maine!! And Martha truly makes her guests feel beyond special.
Galyn's is one of the best spots in Bar Harbor. Amazing food, great staff, amazing art work, and so much history!
Great bartender, drinks, and food! We stopped in during our last day in Bar Harbor and had a great time! If you're looking for a quiet experience we recommend the lounge on the 2nd floor. We came in at 3pm and had no issue with seating but during prime time it is most definitely packed.
Great food and service! The cheesecake was amazing!
Delicious food and great service! Sat upstairs by the window and had a great view of the harbor! I got the crab cakes which were good, and my husband got the pork chop dinner. His pork chop meal was amazing! Would go back again for sure!
It looks nice we tried to get a table but waited too long, we came back the following day, all we ordered was delicious, the people working there from front desk to server friendly and professionally, I watched the lady wiped to sanitary the menu book one by one, take business seriously, we will comeback
The food is always good. The service is really good. The whole experience is excellent. Everything is fresh and made on site.
A bit more formal than some of the other establishments. Our server was helpful, but didn't linger, which was appreciated. The special was an expertly-cooked, pesto haddock. Would venture in again, but after touring a few more of the local recommendations.
The pasta was too cooked. Otherwise the place was pretty good
A delightful dining experience! In fact, we dined here two nights in a row. Friendly, attentive waitstaff. Fresh, mouthwatering seafood and perfect cocktails. My husband and I were exceptionally pleased with Galyn's.
Was happy to get a table during the Pandemic. We called last minute on a Saturday evening at we didn't mind eating a little late. We were able to get a table to seat 5 for 9:30 Pm. It actually worked out great because we were able to go to Sand beach and look at the stars and the Milky Way before our reservations. Now keep in mind we went in late August. I was pleased to see the waiters and all staff wearing masks and they had set the table more than 6 ft apart. So we all felt safe eating inside here. The waiter was nice and helpful in telling us about the specials for the evening and what his recommendations were. The food was delicious. I had to have a lobster plate and I can say there is nothing like sweet Maine lobster. The plates were generous in size and I cannot complain that anything did not taste good. I would recommend this place for some good food and to further enhance your stay at Bar Harbor.
Everything we ate/drank from appetizers to dessert was excellent, our server Alec was on point. Clean well-maintained rustic chic ambience. Maine oysters, lobster bisque soup, seafood sampler main and the blueberry crumble oh and that pork chop dish was incredible!
Been on Desert island for a week and this was the best meal we had.
My girlfriend and I both polished off a appitizer, our entire entrees and deserts. Food and staff were phenomenal, and I would recommend this place to any seafood lover!
Excellent meal and service. Lobster enchiladas and scallops were tasty. Ask for a table with a view.
Great meal. Great ambiance. Fantastic service. Period.
Best meal in Bar Harbor. Mark the waiter was excellent if you get a chance sit on the second floor with a window view.
The native halibut with pesto topping was excellent!
One of the best upscale dining experiences we had in Bar Harbor. Cozy/romantic atmosphere with great views of the harbor during the day. Order the oysters, stuffed mushrooms, crab cakes, lobster tail and creme brulee.
Excellent food and service, plus great wine selection, definitely recommended.
Great place, service was very good (thank you Steven) and the appetizer we had was delicious ( hummus ). We will definitely be back on another visit to Bar Harbor. Half price happy hour drinks were great value.
If you're in Bar Harbor this is a must.
Tara & Fran, Rhode Island
Excellent service. Grilled Fish was great great lobster rolls were good. Coffee was excellent!
Crab cakes and lobster biscuits are outstanding. Lobster bisque is excellent. Sauteed lobster might be the best tasting thing in bar harbor. Excellent view. Ask to sit upstairs by the window
We had dinner here one night recently and loved it! Great food, very friendly staff and in a great spot. Good mix of things on the menu too, in case you're a little tired of seafood by that point! Definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time or being prepared for a wait if you walk in. Best chowder we had in Maine.
Over cooked & over priced. Nice upscale feel & excellent waitstaff. Ordered several dishes with our party. Seafood items were consistently overcooked & rubbery. Wouldn't go again.
Had a positive experience here, but definitely not the strongest lobster roll offering in the area. Interior is dated and plates reminded me of diner ware but our waitress was kind and attentive.
Went to Galyns for our anniversary and had a delicious meal with great service! Our waiter, Cory, was very attentive and helpful. The courses were well spaced out; we did not really have to wait but we were not rushed at all. Crab cakes were really good, the side salad was a great size portion and very fresh, and our meals were great!
Seating was ideal in the front, with a view of the park and harbor. Started with Mussels and brie! Had salads that came with entree. My partner had creamy, rich lobster enchiladas, and I had crabcakes. Each dish came with rice and vegetables. Meal was pretty good, but made great by the blueberry sangria and blueberry margarita, and excellent service by Corey. Only thing to improve is they serve creme brulee, my favorite dessert, but it's just vanilla! Why not throw in some Maine blueberries, or at least a flavor twist of some sort!
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and we had a wonderful time! Our server was excellent and knowledgeable, and everything we ate was delicious! I highly recommend their clam chowder to start and their cheesecake to finish! We sat upstairs by the windows and enjoyed the view of the water and ships coming in and out of the harbor, it was the perfect celebration.
Excellent service and the food was superb. One of my families new favorites in Bar Harbor.
I had a wonderful experience at Galyn's! The service was top notch. We were sitting out on the small outside deck and I started feeling cold and the manager brought out a lap blanket for me. The server was very attentive and friendly and the food was delicious, as were the drinks. I'll definitely come back here if I'm ever back in Maine for vacation.
It was ok, crab cakes were all filler. The portions were small for the amount you pay.
Steamed lobster tasted rubbery. I told the waiter but he said the tail was supposed to be like that. If you d like to have steamed lobster in Bar Harbor, try Stewman s Lobster Pound , which we went last night. The steamed 1+1/4 lobster there was juicy and tender. We continued ordering 2 more.
Spectacular food, great service, friendly and attentive staff - a great place.to eat!
Beautiful and classy atmosphere with delicious food and good drinks. My son was on the hunt for the best New England Clam Chowder in Bar Harbor and we found it here. Also one of the most decadent kid s menus I ve yet encountered. No boring chicken tenders or Mac n cheese here!
This has been our go-to place during our 3-night stay in Bar Harbor. Their happy hour was recommended by our hotelier and we couldn't be happier that we went with their recommendation. Taylor and Steve were our bartenders and were amazing each night we visited! Taylor is a gem! On our last night we decided to have a nice dinner on their patio overlooking the beautiful bay at sunset. The food, service, and atmosphere were amazing! I cant say enough good things about Galyn's!
Just So So
Nothing special at this restaurant. I expected a little more for the cost of the dinners. I ordered the Haddock with blueberry salsa. The fish was excellent. The blueberry salsa was disappointing. It's like they threw blueberries over the fish then cooked it.
Terrific late lunch with friendly staff and a nice view.
Excellent roasted cauliflower dinner. Accommodated food allergy.
We enjoyed the lobster bisque, bacon wrapped scallops!!! House salad with their home made house dressing was fantastic!
Server was attentive and gave us dressing recipe when we complimented it!
Should bottle it!
Over priced, cruise tourist trap, and food was terrible
We made the perfect decision to have lunch at Galyn s. From the impeccable service to the delicious food and awesome ambiance, would eat here everyday if we didn t want to see other places while at bar harbor. Also, get the enchilada!
Very nice views from upstairs dining room. Very good food and perfect portions.
First time in Bar Harbor, so wasn t really sure of where to eat, reviews here were good so we went for it . It was beyond excellent ! We got there earlier then our reservation but they seated us ,our waitress was wonderful, i believe her More
The lobster is amazing and the setting is really pleasant. But the service is really slow. Took us 15min just to be greeted by server after we sat. Come with patience and, if at sunset, repellant.
We had the Early Bird Lobster for a starter, and the duck and sea food linguini.
Very good.
Ordered the lobster combo with lobster bisque, rice and veggies, some mussels, and scallops. The sides could have been seasoned some more, as well as the bisque. Could prob get the same thing a bit cheaper down closer to the water. All-in-all, not bad, but would say explore other places in the area as well. The blueberry sangria was pretty top-notch though.
Had a Lobster tonight and enjoyed it. Reasonably priced, good service and ressies are a good idea.
Excellent seafood feast including fresh lobster and served the classic way with drawn butter. Clam chowder also outstanding.
Highly recommended !!
We had a fantastic lobster, perhaps the best in Maine.
The staff is available to advise and explain the various dishes.
The restaurant is very clean, not very noisy, being divided into several rooms.
Given the type of food it is certainly not cheap, but the prices are in line with the prices of the other places in the area.

Lobster with instructions on how to tackle the beast.
Good was awesome great service, long wait make reservation.
Hubby and I loved it. Great food, great service, great atmosphere.
Where to start... we got the blueberry margarita and the Andrew Bear cocktail. Service attentiveness was impeccable and though we had made a later reservation they accommodated us to make it earlier when we showed up hours prior. The food was superb, for appetizers we got the stuffed mushrooms and baked oysters. As for dinner the lobster enchiladas and scallops were phenomenal.
It never disssapoints. Consistent good food. Pricey but worth it. We keep coming back year after year.
Great food, gorgeous view. Stairs to get to 2nd floor may deter elderly
The food was fabulous, and the atmosphere and service were top notch. Whitney, our server, was excellent.
The classic lobster roll is amazing! As a tourist in the area it was definitely a great introduction to the Bar Harbour style food. I also had the shrimp cocktail, the shrimp was very full and tasty. All in all a great takeaway experience!
Consistently good food especially the appetizers and don't miss their happy hour daily
Great view of the Harbour but we were underwhelmed by the Lobster roll.
This is the only place in Bar Harbor that serves consistently great food every time I've been in. The service is friendly and the selection is interesting and unique. And the view....One of the best.
Comfort food at best! It's worth taking hassle to find parking spot and dine here.
Great friendly service. We ordered $500 worth of food and it was out quite quickly for such a large order and the quality was fantastic.
Enjoyed our prompt friendly service. We both got the haddock special quite good. Salad was a good size for a starter salad. Came with a lot of grain pilaf and some asparagus. Neither of us are hige fans of asparagus. Oh well. But was very happy.
This fine dining establishment is a tough reservation to get during high season, so if you're eating out here, get a reservation early.
It would be difficult to criticize this place because after eating in some of the other top restaurants, you realize how tough it is to be creative, but yet appeal to the mainstream. This is an old school establishment on the main drag, so you sort of get what they do. Trying too hard to be haute cuisine with this audience in mind is, I think, where the experience missed the mark. The spicy sprouts were Brussels sprouts buffalo wing style... not fine dining fare. A fine dining restaurant where the waiter says "we have the best clam chowder" as a feature (in Maine) when asked for recommendations should be a warning, too. That said, the Dijon mussels were excellent but small, and there was no bread to soak the delicious sauce.
The headliner entrees - Stuffed Chop and the Halibut - both were very average. The Pasta Galyn, however, was a win. The dessert they pushed, which I didn't try after seeing them go by, was a large cheesecake.
Food was ok and pricey and only few tables have a nice water view. Was expecting a bit more based on other reviews
I came here with lowish expectations since Bar Harbor is a tourist town and tourist towns tend to have mediocre restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised and actually had a great meal. I had the twin lobster tails and they were delicious. My dad had the Halibut and he also enjoyed his meal. The service was awesome and our waiter was very kind and charismatic. Definitely worth stopping here if you want a great meal.
We ate Thanksgiving dinner there. It tasted just like home.
Wonderful experience, same as I remember 4 years ago, excellent seafood and drinks, great view of the park and bay, fantastic service, highly recommend
