I used to live in one of their properties for almost 3 years. Some of their receptionists were always grumpy and not friendly. Not sure why they work there. When I left they deducted stuff from my deposits without providing explanations/receipts. I sent them emails and yet waiting for a REPLY!!!
Dear Gallagher & Lindsey rentals, You cant just deduct items from deposits without providing explanations and receipts!

Friendly and helpful staff got me into an apartment very quickly. The process was clear and they were responsive to all of my questions and concerns. They seem to have lots of inventory of some great buildings in Alameda.

All about the money and no customer service.
If you need maintenance then youtube it and do it yourself because your lease will be up if you wait for them. The whole place is run by friends of friends and nobody knows what's goin on.

We inquired about renting here. But before you could even see the unit, you need to fill out an application form which essentially means you give them all your information, not knowing whether you want the unit at all.

I was already iffy about the unit I called about, and finding out how to view the unit just made me decide to skip it altogether.

The company was very accommodating when we were looking for a rental property. Mr. Snell was very helpful and took time to help our family find a place that met our needs and budget. Thank you very much Mr. Snell! The office staff, Barbara and Jannine, was also very helpful. Barbara helped with the process on the paperworks, and updated us on our application accordingly. Jannine was responsible for the initial and final inspection for the home, and was thorough. As far as the home maintenance, the maintenance department followed through promptly when informed and written request was made related to the problem.
One thing we were not satisfied with the company was the return for the deposit upon terminating our lease. Our family didn t agree with the amount they deducted and returned to us, and we had voiced our concern about it, but we never got a reply back.
However, overall, our experience with Gallangher and Lindsey Property Mangement was a very postive one. We would use the company again as a property management if we needed to, and would also recommend them to family and friends.

Gallagher and Lindsey has been our property managers for four years. I've had quick responses when things need to be fixed and they even negotiated with our difficult HOA to fix our kitchen when we had a huge leak a couple years ago.

Gosh, I ve had the complete opposite experience with G&L...going on 6 years in my building, moved across the hall (experience w/2 units) wonderful communication email & phone follow-ups within 48-72 hours from Melanie & team. Usually drop my rent off in slot, sometimes go in...smiles & pleasantries & hellos. Not having click of the mouse extras I work around it or having to utilize Comcast...could be worse, not the end of the world.

Native, San Franciscan, worked downtown SF. Lived in Fremont when it was country 7O s/80 s & later Danville. Would always drive by Alameda thumb my nose who wants to go to Alameda? ...very special and magical.

Thank you G&L it s been a blessing to rent, cocoon, and find my groove again. My repairs are addressed in a timely manner, feel my rent is fair and wanted to balance some of the negative reviews with a positive.

Please beware...

Please beware...
By far, Gallagher & Lindsey is the worst Slum Lords and Management company in the Bay Area!
Melanie Snell (Repair Manager) does not know the meaning of customer service. Rude is an understatement.
The property is falling apart and in need of pest control but all they care about is getting the rent and raising the rent.
Looked around at a few of their other locations and they all look the same....Trashed.
The way they manage property is sure to catch them a law suit!

There is a level of customer service that is almost protocol at most rental agencies. I regretfully say ,that the customer service skills at the agency fall below any mark. The agent (Dave) seems like a nice man but not on top of things. Lady responsible for repairs for Gallagher ( Jeneen), has never returned my call or even David the agents call. I have had better luck speaking to the actual landlord. I can not understand why Gallagher was hired to manage the landlords tenant . Waste of money! This agency would benefit from a more qualified, personable, genuine, professional upper management and personnel.

Poor customer relation. They just want to get rid of all works. Never been helped properly on the phone. Mad faces all the time. No kindness. No politeness. They seem not like to do the job. 3 people in the office. They only transfer to another when there is something to do.

Before I moved into my current home I had heard that GL was terrible. I was really worried. I have been pleasantly surprised. I've lived in a GL property for 4 years and have had good communication and professionalism from them. I am really glad that they launched a new website and now repairs can be sent via email rather than on the phone. Most notably they have been a great liaison between me and the owner whenever questions about the property come up.

UNPROFESSIONAL! Trying to reach Dave by emails, phone calls, since Thursday and no one got back to me. After 4 days (Monday) I called to the office trying to reach Dave almost 10 times, also I left 3 voice messages to him, no one got back to me. Called last time looking for this same guy Dave and the lady who answers the phone probably noticed that I was very frustrated and FINALLY he picked up the phone VERY RUDE by the way and hung up the phone on me. The sad thing is I was very interested to rent an apartment that this company has listed online and now I am not anymore. This company needs to learn how to speak with a customer properly and they need to know how not lose a customer.

Update: I was just told that GL doesn t allow Comm...

Update: I was just told that GL doesn t allow Common Networks in any of their buildings. So instead of getting to choose a local ISP with superior quality, you basically have no choice other than Comcast if you want decent speeds. Good call, GL. Changed rating from 2 stars to 1 star.

Update 2: It turns out that Common is on many GL buildings, so they were actually lying to me because they didn t want to have to deal with the issue. Review remains 1 star.

Honest review time. This company runs poorly on several levels.
-No automatic bill pay for rent
-No online portal for communication, repair status updates, customer service, etc.
-People who work at the office refuse to help resolve issues. They just ask you to leave a message on the repair line voicemail. (The latest is that I need the phone number of the building owner and they told me to leave a message on the repair line. Really? You can t give me the phone number of the person who owns the building? I have to leave a message and they ll get back to me in a week or two?).

It s 2018 and these people are making a killing with the rent prices here. They can afford to have an organized file management system, an automated system for documenting repairs, and a clear line of communication and customer support with tenants. Get it together.

This agency is incredibly rude, they treat their tenants like worthless products to be bought and sold. They don't seem to understand how to use cell phone numbers to contact you, they prefer to send strongmen to your door. Intimidation tactics. People transfer you off calls without giving you a chance to respond and hang up on you all the time. When you call the answer is always "well that's not my department" and they are upset at you for asking (they yell at you) when that's the number it says to call. Renting from this agency had made it so that I have this constant dark cloud over my head because of the stress they add to my life. They are hostile, unprofessional, and I do not recommend. They also don't take e-payments of any kind. The only bright side are the repair crew themselves, who are very kind and professional. But every other department is truly terrible to deal with.

Update: You can add inspection of property (outdoor shared areas) with no notice, followed by letters making unsupported claims taped to my door. If you don't put sprinklers in the shared yard, it is going to turn brown because this is an arid climate. That is not my fault, nor is it in my contract to water it.
