My students actually loved our trip to the Zoo. Im not too fond of seeing animals caged up. But its a nice free place to go. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and maneuvering around people. Also if you are not packing a lunch or something to drink, bring lots of money.
It is a very nice place to spend a family day and the best is the variety of animals that this site has
typical zoo stuff... stuffed animals, back scratchers, huge pencils.
We had a great time and everyone was very pleasant and patient.
It was peaceful and the gift shops were not lacking

Took my 1yr old here and he loved it. I did too. Didn't get too see my bald eagle tho. And I was a lil sad BC they have no owls here and that's what my son loves. Other than that, this Zoo is really awesome. Mist/shower posts spread out generously. Lots of benches jic you need a break. Beautiful exhibits and friendly staff
Animals have plenty of space and are happily enjoyed being here. Excellent opportunities to watch Panda climbing on a tree top, Sloth getting fed, orangutans walking on O line in the air, giant Arapaima swimming in Amazonian rainforest. What a treat, learning environment and it's free.
They have elephants and apes and all that, easy to walk around, but foods and snacks are very expensive

Free entry. Variety of animals. Well kept. I put 4 stars only because access to various animals was not available on the day I visited.

I love the national zoo it's a very good place to enjoy yourself and learn lots of interesting things about animals.You can't beat free admission and when you become a fonz member aka friends of the national zoo you help with conservation efforts.By the way gifts and food that you purchase at the zoo also donate to conservation.

It is located in a very good place, there is efficient transportation to get there. There is a good variety of animals although not all are always available. It's a good family outing and it's free.

Took my grandbaby to the zoo she really really had so much fun.
Well marked and paved trails with appropriate signage. Many enclosures include multiple viewing areas and options. Areas provide decorations, sounds and added culture to add to the experience.
The National Zoo is well kept and we'll maintained. Although some exhibits, like the pandas and lions, can be crowded there are lots of lesser known animals that are equally entertaining! We had a great time watching the Andean bear forage for food and the beaver wait for his lunch. You'll see something different every time you visit!

Horrible experience! The worst zoo I ever even to. I understand it is a non-profit zoo but the zoo was horrible. No animals seen in the first 5 cages. The landscape was overgrown and was keep uptight. The zoo was also under construction but it seems like the zoo was just just there just because. Other than that, for a national zoo to be in the DC area, and for it to have an appearance like that was unacceptable.
The place beautiful but miss many of animal and services.
In fact, we have not seen a lot of animals, only the elephant was there
The new elephant enclosure is amazing. You really get up and close to them.
Pandas! Red pandas! Monkeys of all kinds zebras and elephants! Amazing place that truly loves animals!
The DC Zoo is beautiful and fun! The staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and helpful.
Still only half open. I suggest waiting longer to visit.

Giving you a three star, because your exhibits were great, but the attitudes of people who work there, is cruel. They talk harshly when you ask a question and don't have close enough bathrooms. A little girl peed her pants and very upset. Why are you victimizing people like this? I know you have a lot of funding. Maybe the funds are miss appropriated. When you celebrate a kids Holiday, you kick people out and not in a nice way. It's rude how it's done.
