The zoo is very nice. We love to see the open spaces for the elephants, lions and giraffes! The food though ... please!! Eat before or after... everytime we visit, the food is bad. Last time, the burgers were dry, the pizza was dry... This time--- Even the snacks were stale! The popcorn was stale, the dried fruit cups were stale... Why?? They have a nice looking cafeteria... just bad food!

This is an awesome zoo! I admit I haven't been to many others, but I love our zoo! The recent African Safari expansion is awesome and they are still working on getting more animals and filling in other areas! The restaurant is right next to an area where the rhino's and emus might come by and pay you a visit. Awesome experience!

Over the years this place has gotten way better. I remember being a kid and this being a school field trip and there really wasn't as much to see as there is now. This zoo has definitely gotten better and is now a great spot to check out if you're in the city. Lots of animals and a good ambient to visit.

This is a pretty good zoo, lots of stuff to see and the animals seem to be well taken care of. The habitats look natural for the most part, and we enjoy the interactive nature of this zoo, like the tiger feeding and giraffe feeding. From the lizards to the elephants our kids where enthralled. We been here twice since moving to the Valley. We'll mostly likely be back soon.

I do love this zoo and am a member. Having visited zoos all over California, I can say there are some that I just find down right depressing. This is NOT one of them.
The chaffee zoo is both part of the conservation and repopulation programs, so you will often see babies at this zoo. They staff is amazing and willing to answer any question your overly exuberant child might ask. The zoo is also working hard to continually improve the animal habits, making them appear and feel more like natural habitats.
The African safari habitat is amazing and one of my favorite parts of the zoo.

Be prepared for the $5 parking fee. Buy your tickets online so you can skip the line at the gate. It will cost you $3 to feed the giraffes, and $2 to visit the stingrays and a dollar more feed them. The current dinosaur exhibition has an additional entrance fee.

Love, love love Fresno Chaffee Zoo. This oasis just off 99 and Olive (or Belmont) is a real joy to see - repeatedly. As Fresno has grown, the zoo has grown in size, quality, and aesthetics. It's a landmark worthy of being proud of our city. While it is not what I would call inexpensive, it IS a great value for your dollar and should be considered a special biannual or quarterly special treat for the kids (and you). Both exciting AND exhausting, plan for lunch (and rest) at the Kopje Lodge (great food choices), the Safari Cafe, or bring your own picnic. To see the whole zoo requires a LOT of walking so try to plan your visit where you land at food/rest at appropriate times. Highly recommend.

Great sights and good food. They have all the normal fair food stuff, plus a restaurant where you can get burgers, pizza, sandwiches, etc. and sit outside in a large patio area right next to the big outdoor exhibit.

So far I like it more than any zoo I've been to. It is very big and has some beautiful scenery for the animals. The habitats are huge and the animals have room to roam. A wide variety of animals too. There are open areas that little monkeys can jump all around you and get inches from you. Walking through the aviaries is great as well. Definitely better than the LA zoo and Santa Barbara zoo. Animals seem more lively as well.

Amazing.

Amazing.
How much fun this place is.

There was a lot of construction going on that will likely not end any time soon & because of Covid you have to walk down a preset path. The Reptile exhibit is closed and a lot of the animals have been "relocated" to another exhibit that they're working on. Unfortunately those exhibits are all closed so we didn't get to see about a third of the animals.
Overall, it was still a fun experience and the lack of people made for a more enjoyable experience.

4 years of membership and parking pass for the parks and my family loves it here.. even the food at the safari cafe is pretty good. The environment while you are eating tho is outstanding and peaceful. Every year it just keeps getting better.

Fresno Chaffee Zoo punches way above it's weight class. Definitely one of the nicest mid sized zoos I've been to. It's no destination zoo like Atlanta or San Diego, but it is worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood. Highly recommend.

The zoo is a very nice zoo. There is a great range of animals, its laid out well, and the kids seemed to love it. We greatly enjoyed it!

Our only issue during the day was the customer service, or rather lack of, from the cafe to the shop, the stingray people to the front gate. Every person we spoke to was either rude, condescending, bored or a combination thereof. It left a sour note, especially when my 8 year old nephew asked for help in the shop with a product and was ignored by 2 staff members. I would think a place that deals with people on the regular would be more personable.
