It was alright. Don't know why it's ranked so high. It has alot of space but mostly it's the parking and un needed ponds there not sure if it's for fishing because there are no fishing sings probably just a excuse to say it's bigger. They could definitely expand the living areas for animals instead of having useless stagnant ponds in the parking lot but hey. The animals seemed un happy and mostly asleep and depressed. No interaction between the staff and animals like u don't really see anyone in the cages interacting with them like other places that get this type of aknowledgement. It was meh ok could of been better.

Exciting place to visit in Fresno. A fun attraction to take kids or go on a date. You can definitely tell the public and park have put a lot of time and energy into this facility with a clean park and knowledgeable staff. The bird exhibits and the new African Safari exhibits are worth the trip. You are able to get up close to most of the animals and admire their beauty. If you have a free day and haven't visited, take the time to go.

For the price of admission, this is a great way to spend the day. We prefer the SF Zoo for the playgrounds and more variety of animals, but it also much pricier. I definitely recommend the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. We are annual members and come often.

Very pleasantly surprised at what this zoo offered. My toddler and preschooler were excited to even forget their nap. In just 5 hours, we enjoyed a bird show, lion training, giraffe feeding, petting goats and alpacas, an adorable baby Rhino with it's family and so much more!

And here's the best part - all of this for sub-$10 per person!!! Definitely worth visiting!

When I traveled to Fresno and was lucky enough to have a little time the afternoon before I left, I thought visiting the zoo would be a nice way to kill some time. I completely underestimated this zoo. It was fantastic! The African exhibit was incredible and I could have spent the entire day watching the animals interact on the Savannah. The monkey cage was also ablot of fun. They had stingrays that you could pay to interact with that looked fun, but I didn't a chance to participate. My only complaint was the sea lion habitat. The habitat itself was beautiful, but it was so big I just stared at empty water the whole time. Overall it was amazing and I will definitely go back!

Went to Zoolights to relax. Instead got to hear the cheetahs kill a stray cat. Herman who works there chose to get in my face after I went to the front to complain about his attitude. Been a member 5 years, but thanks to feeling VERY threatened by him I don't think I'm going back

I'm so glad the zoo was able to make covid accommodations... in a world of impending doom, it was so nice to take my kids out. Its a lovely property, the Cafe has good food. The staff is doing a great job of enforcing pandemic rules while allowing guests to meander

This is a great zoo. Recently enrolled my kids in zoo camp (2 hours of driving each day for a week). The photo I took with my kids is one I used on a book cover and had enlarged to put up on my wall.

I've visited often with and without the kids. Regular times and special events - ice cream, behind the scenes, Dia de la Familia, Zoo Boo, Zoo Lights, and Safari Night (adults only).

The zoo keepers are friendly and knowledgeable, care about the animals and give the administration ideas about constantly improving and updating the zoo.

On hot days there is now a kids water play area, and we always visit the reptile house (probably the most comfortable spot in the zoo).

Also recommend venturing up to the African Safari area. Not only is it well done but that's where you'll find the best food in the zoo. Woodfired pizza is our favorite. Then see the cheetahs up close (glass wall). Closer than any other zoo I've visited.

Too many great exhibits and experiences to list. Well worth the visit and certainly an amazing value for a family!

One of the best zoos I've ever been too. Exhibits are setup perfect, animals seem happy and active, and they are easy to view. My kids love to go just to go dig for dinosaur bones and play in the splash park. My personal favorite is the eating area in the Africa exhibit.

Freaking gorgeous! As a Sacramento native I was expecting a sad zoo like Sacramentos, but they did a fantastic job with the renovations and all of the interactive enclosures are so fun. We were face to face with tiny money's, kangaroos, birds and more.. San Diego Zoo is gorgeous and takes first place, but I think this is my second favorite Zoo in California.

Really really great experience. Could use a little bit more funding due to lack of space for the animals. I honestly think zoos should be huge and big so the animals have more space to run around and exercise. It seems like they were more occupied on building structures for people and customers instead of the animals. There's a crapload of parking spaces that could be modified or turned into more animal exhibits.

I highly recommend a season pass if you have Kids. I also recommend getting a parking pass if you plan on going frequently. My kids love feeding the giraffes. The expansion is fantastic and seems like it gets better every time we go.

Fresno Chaffee zoo is the best family place in the Valley. There is so much to do from feeding the giraffe to touching the sting rays. The best place tho was enjoying lunch overlooking the African Savannah. Higjlu recommend it.

Animal Exhibits - 9 / 10 Some are outdated, all are planned for renovation.
Food - 9 / 10 Not expensive at all. $2.50 for a hot dog/ bottled water is NOT pricey for a zoo, period.
Staff- 10 / 10 Had the honor of talking to several Zoologists yesterday, all were extremely informative about the animals they're caring for. Clean up, purchasing and all other staff were as professional as can be.
Cleanliness - 9 / 10 - While the Zoo is sharing its parking lot with another park, the outside could certainly look better, but the inside is kept quite well, and it's adorable.
Fun Factor - 10 / 10 - While this zoo isn't the largest you've been to, it certainly packs a punch full of fun. I got to pet a massive 7 foot Nurse Shark for many minutes in a row, to hand feeding shrimp to big and small sting rays, to taking as many selfies as I wanted at their pet feeding farm. Goats, llamas, cows, chickens and even sheep! Had a blast!

I'm 31, and still get excited when seeing animals from all over the globe. The Fresno Zoo is a perfect day adventure for anyone, not just kids. I had a great time taking just my girlfriend, and we will most definitely be back again!

Oh by the way! $12 for a day pass is a steal!

I love our zoo! We're so lucky to have this in our area. It's always a great day when we come here. We love the new wilderness falls and the African safari area too. The new kangaroo walkabout lets you really get up close and personal with the kangaroos! It's a learning adventure every single time.

Being born and raised in Fresno I have been going to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo for years. It is so nice to see how it has evolved. There are so many wonderful attractions. Stingray Bay where you can actually pet a stingray. The seal exhibit that allows you to not only watch the seals and sea lions frolic and jump out of the water you can walk down to the underwater level and watch them swimming. The African Adventure was so well done. It is expansive with lots of room for the animals to roam.

Having grown up in Fresno and since moved away, I can honestly say this is one of the best zoos in California. Their dedication to making larger and more efficient habitats for the animals has created an experience you will never forget!! Sea Lion Cove is gorgeous, and The African Adventure exhibit is just amazing!!!
So proud that the citizens of my hometown and the efforts of Measure Z only continue to make this zoo more amazing!!

Incredible zoo for Fresno. Check out the bird show - we were totally surprised and impressed! Owls, talking parrots, giant cranes, cockatoos, and some other surprises.

Lots of other fun animals to see and an impressive reptile house. My kids are happy and worn out every time we visit without fail.

I've been coming to this zoo for over 35 years, and I've always been impressed with how it continuously evolves to give the animals healthy habitats, and a great experience for guests. The new African addition is absolutely incredible.

Love the improvements at the zoo for the animal habitats. The dirt paths are a little hard on wheelchairs or crutches, but it was a wonderful experience with the kids. They love that the peacock was Loose by the snack bar and they could get an up-close View

The price is pretty high. But I saw that the animals z. B. from Africa have a much larger enclosure than in other zoos. The animals do not look as if they are feeling bad or missing something.
