Quite good Muffletta! I had some issue with cheesy, oiliy and creamy food in the States, but this one was quite OK with me. It is a bit salty but still I could eat with pleasure.

I live in Baton Rouge (1 hour away) and I'll drive down just for a muffuletta. These guys know what they're doing. If you're not from Louisiana there are a few things you need to try to have the best day ever: Beignets at Cafe Dumond for breakfast, a large muffuletta at Central for lunch, some gumbo at the gumbo shop for dinner, and some Absinthe at the Pirate's Bar for a nightcap. My grandfather eats here, my father eats here, I eat here, and my 2.5 year old eats here. Love it!
We love this place! We bought a muffuletta and some seeds to plant. The smell is amazing in there! The sandwich was delicious and there's only one other place that makes them a little better. But of course, we'll buy another one when we go back.
If you can stand its popularity (crowded) the food can't be beat!
A must for a muffuletta sandwich when your in new Orleans
Giant Muffulettas, can taste the distinct layers of cheese, meat, olive oil in the bread and the sesame on top.
friendly prompt service. interior decor is very charming and neat which is appreciated. muffuletta was very good especially the bread and cheese.
will try again, thanks1
Not bad but not the best muffaletta I've eaten. They were stingy with the meat. Best to get it to go and find a seat outside for a picnic.
You only come here for one thing, and one thing only, though Muffaletta. The original one. Go early in the day because they usually sell out. One is enough for two people. Don t forget to get a Barq s root beer while you are chowing down your Muffaletta. It is a true authentic New Orleans experience. A mix of the New Orleans, with the Italian, and with everything else in it.
As usual great product. Quick service. I have NEVER had any issues. I just wish I were closer than 5 hours away from such awesomeness. I for sure will be back. Make sure this is a stop if you are in the area!
OMG, this place has the very best muffuletta sandwich. The store also has amazing food items to buy. It's too bad I live in Florida, I would get these sandwiches all the time! A true gem
The best muffalet in New Orleans a must try if you like green olives!
It would be 5 stars, but they were out of muffaletta bread, so no world-famous muffaletta for me. Wanted just the insides, since i avoid bread, but was told "that's not gonna happen." Huh! Ok. Got a stuffed artichoke to die for instead. Great place with great selection of cool, eclectic, old-fashioned groceries and delicious ready-to-eat food, plus a seating area that closed 2 mins before i walked in.
I came for the muffuletta and left with French donut mix lol
The original Muffaletta is from the Central Grocery, what more needs to be said. Stand in line like everyone else and then take it to the back and soak up the food and the place with all five senses. That's NOLA!
A must stop place when going to New Orleans. The Muffuletta is amazing!
Stopped here for a quick visit when walking around the French Quarter. This place checks all of the boxes and is a must visit whether or not you are Italian! The smells alone are worth the stop; let alone the Muffulettas! Places like these do not stay around as long as these folks have by accident.
Delicious muffuletta sandwiches. Great with some Zapps chips and a beverage while watching the Mississippi. Take home and great heated in oven too. So good.
There is a seating area in the back of the shop. You must try the muffuletta!!! The olive juice is soaked into the bread. I had muffuletta before, but the sandwich here is no match to what I ve had before.
My experience is, NEVER, EVER, try a Muffalata anywhere else! In general, I don't eat salami sandwiches but I had heard so much about it I decided to try it.
It was one of the best sandwiches I ever tasted. I've been to New Orleans a few times when they are closed and tried other places and I might as well have gone to the dollar store to buy the meat, cheese and bread.
These are a must try! just don't expect the same quality any place else.
The muffuletta sandwiches are one of the best here.
Biggest and best Muffuletta ! Home of the original Muffuletta!!! You will never taste anything like it! Will return!
Great little grocery store in the heart of New Orleans, fantastic history and delicious muffalettas
I'm from new orleans. I come here every time I visit home can't leave town with out a mufalatta. Best sandwich there is.
Believe the hype! it is an amazing sandwich. It is also HUGE (like 12 inches across huge) and loaded full. Store carries a nice selection of authentic Italian products, but the tourists flock here for the Mufulletta. We did come during a lull where there were only 5 or so ahead of us. Line moves very quickly. If you see a line out the door, don't be too discouraged since they are very efficient and the wait will be less than you think. We did get a whole for two people and we could have easily done with a half. Since the room had a fridge we saved the other half for another meal.
Muffuletta sandwich in New Orleans? This is the place. Pair it with a cold Barq's root beer and you're there. The grocery has Italian and Mediterranean specialties that are too numerous to mention. Good place to visit in the city.
Luv the stuffed artichokes by Boudreaux & muffalettas
Neat place, and the muffaletta is indeed all it's cracked up to be!
Best food in town. Must go here when you are in town. Would move here just for the food from here. 10/10
I'm in love with this sandwich! This was my first ever visit...I will be back! Great food, speedy service...over all amazing experience!! Highly recommended
I am going to say it...the muffuletta is overated but the experience is fun.
Never mind the tourist pricing, unable resist the Muffuletta and the olive salad.
Super friendly staff, awesome cheese fried in the deli.
Best muffalatta ever. Bought one for the flight home on the last JetBlue flight out of the old NoLa airport & had heads turning to see what the goodness was from.
The muffuletta at Central Grocery came highly recommended by several friends, and for good reason! This massive sandwich comfortably fed 4 people a light lunch for about $20. Quite tasty, but a little pricey for what you get.
A jewel in the city....we loved it! We went with locals and it was worth it.
Sandwiches are worth the wait and the $. I believe it may be cash only. One whole sandwich fed my family of five. Take it across the street and sit in the beautiful park while you eat.
Their sandwiches are a must! I was very impressed with the unique flavor of the food and the feel of the place
A great muffuletta. A full size is big enough for average portions for 3 guys.
Do you love muffaletta sandwiches? Then you have to come here for a great one. Best to go a bit after lunch hour...then you can grab a cold drink, some chips and sit down and enjoy your sandwich. Grab some to go as well...they will stay fresh for days in their wrapper.
We stopped in to get a sandwich to go. Super cute little market and hands down, the best muffaletta ever!! A must stop!!
The muffler I received from there was the best muffler I've ever the service was impeccable
I of course had my first ever Muffuletta here... I cant wait to go get another... they do have them pre made but that's a good thing so the line moves quickly! It was still very good. I normally do not like olives BUT that olive spread was so good! They do at first seem kinda expensive with a half for $11 and a whole for $19.99 but a half is big enough for 2 and the whole one is big enough for 4.
Not handicapped accessible. Doesn't even try to be. So, good food...but bring a friend who can stand and walk.
Best muffuletta I've ever had. Really cool spot that makes you feel like your in the old world.
Really, there is only one thing to get here. Muffuletta is amazing.
Such a cute little grocery with a delicious sandwich! Don t go in expecting fancy, but it was nice and cool.
We waited in line only to find out they were out of the Muffuletta's. They should put a sign at the door so we don't waste our vacation time!
Hands down, the best olive salad and mufalette in existence!
This place has the best muffulettas and in town. And a really cool old-school wooden counter to eat at
Muffuleta, just a cold-cuts and cheese sandwich, but the sesame bread and the olive salad elevate it to a completely different level. Kinda pricey, but you'll certainly enjoy it.
God bless you for shipping muffuletta sandwiches. I visited a few years ago (and had one of the best sandwiches I ve ever eaten) and finally pulled the trigger on having one delivered. It s like I m back in NOLA. Unreal good. The sandwiches came well packed and it s still one of the best I ve ever eaten. You re doing God s work. Thank you for being so great.
The REASON they are "pre-packaged" is to allow the melding of the flavors to soak into themselves and especially the bread!! Hence the "pre-packaging". A "fresh" sandwich is a comment only the ill-informed would make. And if you want to be manby-pamby treated then I suggest going over to another New Orleans institution, "Mothers"!! You'll leave crying!!
OMG Their muffulettas are out of this world!!!! Trying one has been on my bucket list for years and I finally checked that off. Can t wait to go back and have another, and another, and another!!!
Really neat grocery store! The Mufuletta's are huge and very tasty! They do a good job of keeping the line moving, having Mufuletta's in halves and wholes pre-bagged and ready to go. There is an eating area at the back but it's small so, unless there's room, grab your food to go. Clean, unique store.
