This is our MOST FAVORITE restaurant in Norfolk. The staff is beyond the best I have ever had, but the food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant is in an old church that has been restored. This is am experience evwryone ahould have if they come to Norfolk!

The staff is awesome, food was great for the price. They made me and my husband 20 year anniversary do special. Highly recommend she crab soup, scallops and trout wonderful flavors.

Our first experience wasn't good. The restaurant tables were so close to each other we needed to stand up over and over again just to let others by. We loved the crab soup. Our dinner entrees were average. One of our party didn't receive his plate until well after the first five were delivered. It seems like their focus is very much on exotic game. The normal entrees didn't seem to have the same effort.

This is a very beautiful Church like setting and the staff makes it even better. They are very kind and patient and when my husband did not like the temperature of his salmon they quickly fixed it for him with a smile. Jordan is an awesome server and very efficient! She even introduced me to a wonderful Earl Grey Jasmine tea!
I had the half sandwich (French dip) and soup (she crab). Both were really good!
This is the second time I visit here, the staff are still as friendly as last time I visit.Maybe it's my personal opinion, I think it's way too dark here because I need to take picture and idk I just like restaurants with brighter lights.
There were two levels and we were being seated on the side on the second floor. We liked our table because it was only us on that conor so it was comparably quiet and we can talk. We waited for quite a while for our server to come take our order but it was not really long.
There were rolls being served while we're waiting for our food but I'm not a fan of them. They are dry and I tasted powder outside of the bread, but it didn't really bothered me cuz they are free anyways.
We ordered the Salmon Croquettes for our appetizer, Roasted Baby Back Ribs, Smoked Gouda Tenderloin Penne, and Pesto Crab and Shrimp Pasta.
The Salmon Croquettes was nothing special, the sauce was delightful, but the salmon was nothing surprising, it's just a ball of fried salmon.
The Roasted Baby Back Ribs was good, it smells and taste good. The amount of sauce was appropriate, the veggies on side were cooked as what I like, half-done, so if you want your veggies being cooked soft please let your server know.
The Smoked Gouda Tenderloin Penne was a disappointment, which is also the reason why I took one star off. The sauce and beef tenderloin were blend, and everything on this dish seems apart.
The Pesto Crab and Shrimp Pasta is my friends and my favorite dish overall in this visit. The crab meat was blended with this super creamy pesto sauce the shrimp was cooked just the right amount of time so they're crunchy and flavorful, and all these flavors of seafood were blended into the pasta... I will definitely go there all the way from VB where I live to just order this pasta!
This is one of the most unique restaurants I ve been to. Awesome atmosphere. Delicious food. Great drinks. Friendly service. You can t go wrong here. Well worth it
Absolutely terrible food. My husband's stuffed flounder tasted like a wet sock and my food had no flavor at all. The crab dip barely had any crab dip in it and the drinks had no alcohol in them. We couldnt even finish our food and went to taco bell instead. The service was also really poor and we had to wait forever to even get a water refill.

We've been there multiple times and have never been disappointed by the food or service. The special Restaurant Week menu offered some excellent (and new) options.

A good choice for a cheery old-world, meat-eater's holiday dinner and drinks. I recommend the she-crab soup first, then scallops or prime rib. I'm planning to return next Friday -wild game night- for some venison tenderloin. I don't know of another local restaurant that offers it!

Inconsistent but unique fare. Most of the menu have variations that make the food unique. Honestly, everything I've ever had here was good if not great. However, when you order the same thing 5 different times and it tastes different or varies in freshness each time... you start to wonder.
Highly recommend!! Filet is amazing. Salmon flatbread is good, the flat bread could be more crispy! Crab cakes is perfection. Brandy Bread pudding is amazing! Asparagus is perfection! Curry rice is delicious! Great job! Food came out hot and delicious. Service is just ok! I'd expect servers to know specials and be able to recommend menu items without having excuses they just arrived and fumbling through the menu. But I seen better servers working! Overall experience is GO and Enjoy the delicious food and the church environment. All plates looked amazing. Great job owners and managers!

Tonight was my first time dining at Freemason. The food was great, but the service...... 5 STAR SERVICE!!!! Tim was phenomenal!! I will definitely add Fremason Abbey to my list of go to restaurants.

My wife and I have mentioned this place to each other several times driving past. We always wanted to check it out if only for the architectural beauty. I decided to book a reservation for our anniversary after reviewing the menu online. I can say I am glad I did! This place was amazing, both the hostess and the server congratulated us on our anniversary. Nice to see both parties took time to read the notes I left on our reservation. You would be amazed how many really don't. The food was exquisite and perfectly portioned. By the way, they have a great selection of very reasonably priced appetizers so definitely try one! The pride in presentation of the food as well as the cullinary skill was evident throughout our meal. It's a win for us all and all. Again, special thanks to Brittany our server for taking such good care of us! We will definitely be back!
