Franklins was well worth the 3 hour wait. The staff was very freindly. They came out every once in a while to explain to everyone the process, how long you could expect to wait according to where you were in line. Notified everyone that you were free to use the restrooms inside before they open should you need too. They even had loaner lawn chairs you could use while you waited. They came out and took pre-orders, ordering BBQ is a little new for me and my party, they were very patient, explained how much we should order etc.
Aaron Franklin came out every 30 minutes or so after opening to take pictures and sign autographs with anyone who wanted. I got his autograph and took a picture with him. He was really freindly and genuine.
When we finally got to eat the food exceeded my expectation. My party ordered a little of everything, it was all really good. The Brisket was the best I've ever had and I've eaten alot of good brisket, more bad than good really.
Overall the staff and Franklin himself seemed to really appreciate their customers, Franklins was a really good experience, it was worth the 3 hour drive and 3 hour wait. One of the best experiences I've ever had at any restuarant.

Three words: WORTH THE WAIT. Delicious brisket, ribs and pulled pork. Got there at 9am on a Tuesday with already a long line, and they were out of turkey well before we even ordered. Get there early and know you're in for a treat. Service was fantastic, all employees were kind and appreciative of the business. Will definitely come back next time I'm in town!

Loved it! The brisket is phenomenal. The original sausage has the snap when you bite into it that you look for in a sausage. Normally l am not a sausage person, but I would definitely order Franklin's again. Sauce was provided at the tables, but no sauce needed. Their brisket stands on its own.

JC One Liner Review: Go even if you have to wait in line.

We went on Sunday lunch hour and there was still plenty of people waiting in line. We heard this was the best barbecue spot in Austin, so we had to check it out. When it was our turn, the only thing they had left was briskets. I like briskets so we ordered a few slices of them and they melted in our mouth. Wow! So tender, I've never experienced this tenderness when I had barbecues in other states. Definitely a place to check out.

Ambience - They definitely paid more attention to their quality of food.
Representation inside is not impressive. It's a typical BBQ restaurant.
Service - Professional and fast.
Pricing - It's not cheap, some slices of briskets and a sausage link were over $40.

Highly recommend.

Tips: Go when they will have beef ribs - supposedly the best you can get here.

The #2 BBQ in Texas does not disappoint! Even the three hour wait was enjoyable lounging in camp chairs and meeting new people. The BBQ is amazing and divine. The turkey was juicy with a great crust made from pepper and smoke. The pork ribs were likewise mouth watering. They were still sticking to the bone but the meat easily came off with little effort. The brisket the perfect flavor, tender with a perfect sugar cookie crust from the rendered fat, black pepper and smoke it melts in your mouth. The sides equally as good and compliment the meat selection. Take the time to put your feet up, meet some new people and experiencd some of the best BBQ in all of Texas.

Food gave us the runs!!! After waiting in line since 8am and getting served at 12:30 (They opened at 11am). Not worth it for the $115 we spent on 3 people! Overpriced! More of a tourist spot now. Go somewhere more Texas.

Everyone keeps saying this place has the best Bar-B-Q in Town. If its so good, why don't the owner buy more meat for customers to come in and eat anytime during business hours and not have its customers wait outside in some ridiculous long line for hours and only move up a couple inches in the line and come out to say, "Sorry we're out of food". Come on now, the place had just opened and their out of meat already. A good bar-b-q place will have enough meat to serve all customers to enjoy not just a handful and turn the others away. Heck I'd rather drive from Austin to Lockhart for some good Bar-B-Q than wait in some rainy, hot, freezing line for some bar-b-q. Place isn't open an hour before they say their out of meat! Forget that....

It's an iconic Austin BBQ joint. He takes pride in every slice. I attended a private event here and had a tour. Its impressive the care that goes into every slice of brisket. There's a reason everyone lines up here.

Unbelievably good barbecue as you can see by all the great reviews. We had to wait in line as everyone else was so well worth it you don t come across barbecue like this every day. Before I had the barbecue and waited in a line I thought the people are nuts but I totally get it now!

I don't want to say anything negative because the internet trolls will come and find me. I will say that when I asked them not to dip my turkey in butter they refused. I love butter, I really do, but I don't think your flavor should depend on you dipping an item in butter. The staff were nice enough though.

Meat was good. Beans wasn't very good to me any way. Okay potato salad. They need more help serving people. Only 3 guys. I see why it takes so long to get in. Will not stand in line for 2 hrs again for it.

That brisket was worth every minute I stood in line. We went on a Sunday while visiting Austin. We waited 2 hours and a half in line. Got there around 11:35am and were eating at around 2:15pm. By the time we got to order, they only had brisket and sausage left. Food was amazing and pricey.

Wow, the hype.. brisket was good. Sausage was good.
I'm glad I went but not going to stand in line again. Going to try Iron Works next time.
Service was great. Food a little pricey for me, but probably priced right for what this place has become.

If the wait scares you then pay someone else to do it for you. You will be missing out on the experience of talking to the owner. He is very passionate and has great food. Always a must-stop

The brisket is DEFINITELY worth every minute of the long wait! Not kidding. The average wait time is 2 hrs.
The line is shorter if you come later but the meat might run out.
A must visit for sure!

People, stop complaining about waiting in line for awesome BBQ. This place is famous for a reason. If you're too prissy to get up early and wait like everyone else, then go sit inside some air conditioned fancy restaurant and whine some more. This place has fantastic BBQ. I took my friend from Ukraine who had never eaten BBQ, I think I ruined it for him cause nothing else will compare.
**That being said this is the main place people talk about in ATX like nowhere else exists. As a former Bellman I used to recommend hundreds of people a week to different restaurants. I'd always send them to the Salt Lick and La Barbeque if they didnt want to wait in line for Franklins. Dont head to Iron Works or Stubbs they're just not as good.

Unreal. Good. Believe me. Believe the hype. As good as the brisket is... The smoked turkey is something else. Goes down even better with a Mexican Coke. I can now check Franklin's off my bucket list. Thanks

Real deal Texas style barbecue. If you want perfectly smoked meat, and beautifully blended sauces that compliment the smoked meats like a bachelor looking for a date, you ve found the place you ve been craving. Get out of the cold, and come get comforted by these delicious racks of ribs, smoked chicken, and the brisket of the gods

P.S. try the cornbread sundae, you won t regret it...

The best brisket and pork ribs I've ever eaten! Will have to go back on a Saturday so I can try the beef ribs. Couldn't leave a review and not mention their great staff helpful, friendly and seemed to love their jobs. Kudos everyone.

Another great experience. It was great chatting with people in line while waiting from before 7am. My wife loved the mother's day lunch especially since she arrived just as they opened.

Pulled pork was on point! Ribs had great seasoning and fall-off-the bone tender. Loved the spice in the sausage. Brisket was less than impressive with my KC comparatives. Coke from Mexico

Be ready to wait a few hours to build up a good appetite.
Staff is what makes this place: friendly with update on expected wait when we arrived and all around good vibes.

Very disappointed in Franklins. We drove to Austin from Dallas and wanted to eat at the world Famous restaurant only to be turned away rudely stating "we have a private party tonight." And they laughed in our face as they sent us to Stubbs BBQ. Stubbs has our business from now on.

The fastest(and only) 4 hour wait I ve ever had. We got there at 8:30 and ate at 1. Met some great people in line. The staff is very aware that they have hundreds of people waiting in line for hours and they communicate extremely well. Restaurant is open all morning so you have access to bathrooms and beer while you wait. The brisket was phenomenal and the ribs incredible. Sausage and pulled pork was good too but not even close to ribs/brisket. It was worth every minute and I wouldn t hesitate to do it again.

This place definitely lived up to the hype. I will definitely come back again and line up. Best to line up around 6-6:30 as people that got there at 8am have to still wait 5 hours for food. Highly recommend the briskets. NOTE: they do supply chairs for you to wait, actual washrooms open at 8am, no public WiFi. You can also start buying merch at 8am. They sell as small as quarter pounds so you can try a bit of everything.

Great BBQ - Not worth the Wait

Great BBQ - Not worth the Wait

By no means am I a foodie, but waiting for any food for over two hours probably is not worth it. This is not sweet manna from heaven, nor is it flavors that will ruin all future experiences. It does set the bar high, the brisket was fantastic, ribs were superb, pulled pork was Well pulled pork. The sides were not impressionable.

Tell me this is a classic: what is my time worth question? we paid approximately $100 for 2 pounds of brisket, 1.5 pounds of ribs, and 1 pound of pulled pork. We waited for over two hours and 30 minutes for this. If your time is worth approximately $30 an hour, that means that you just paid a total of$175 for 4.5 pounds of meat. Me and the others in my group just don't think it adds up.

Overall the experience was fun, the wait was agonizing, and we are glad that we did it once. We will not be going back unless they can trim their wait times two under 45 minutes.

Really good bbq although the wait time can be slightly ridiculous. The brisket was what everyone recommended but I found it to be just mediocre. The pulled pork was amazing though and the staff makes the whole experience enjoyable

The 5 hour wait was worth it. The bbq is amazing best pork ribs ever. Brisket was juicy and doesn't need any sauce. I am not fan of turkey but theirs was delicious not dry at all. Employees are super friendly and very helpful. If you get a chance to visit Austin this place is an absolute must.

Live in Lockhart so great BBQ is everywhere , was prepared to be disappointed as I was worried it was just Austin hype , but even though it was the most expensive brisket I've ever paid for I was elated ! Not sure how often I would stand in line that long but with the wait and every penny ! Delicious !

Wow....definitely the best bbq i've ever had. Is it worth the wait...yea but only once. I would say the taste / cost ratio is definitely worth it but the line kills it so do it once if you've never had Franklin's, after that i would try other places since the usual wait on a saturday (when they also have the best beef ribs i've ever had) is usually 3 hours.

Waited in line for 1.5 hrs in 100 degrees and we were not disappointed. The food was really good. We shared 1/2lb of brisket and a pulled pork sandwich. It was an awesome first lunch in Austin. Not to be missed.

Arrived at 9:15 am And left after eating our fill at about 1 pm. After 3.5 hours in line, the brisket and pulled pork were well worth the wait. Other than the wait in li e being close to unbearably hot, the experience was great. Even made a couple of friends while in line.

Ordered two pounds of brisket, 1/4 lb of pulled pork, 1/4 lb of pork ribs, and potato salad, and they graciously threw in a slice of turkey for free for us to try. Gotta be honest, if I were to come back I wouldn't use my precious stomach space for anything else other than brisket. It was so amazingly tender and flavorful it almost brought tears to my eyes. The pulled pork and turkey were also extremely tender and probably the best I have had of either, they just weren't at the same level as the brisket. I wasn't a huge fan of the pork ribs, but that may just be my own preference. The potato salad is solid but unspectacular, which is the perfect pairing for BBQ. As for prices, it isn't cheap. But definitely worth it given the quality of the product. Overall, the best BBQ I've ever had, and it's not even close. Was it worth the wait? I think so. But I will probably order ahead next time

Was able to order curbside since dining area was closed. Only waited 20 or so minutes for our order, beats waiting 6+hours. Service was excellent, very courteous and helpful.. Had the brisket, turkey and sausage. It was some of the best bbq I've had ever. Brisket was star of the show. Like butter. Definitely a must have when in town.

The.Best.Brisket.Ever. Well worth the wait. We got there at 9:30, ate at noon. They provide chairs, and restrooms. Tables were cleared and cleaned immediately. The only reason door the 4 stars is the place was freezing cold. Most people in the restaurant were wearing winter coats while eating. That gets messy.

If you're from Texas, it's highly overrated. I mean...It's solid, but I grew up with BBQ coming from the backyard smoker. It was never something we went "out" for. By the time you make it through the line, you pretty much could have done it yourself! Avoid lines by reserving ahead of time.

I was able to join an event where it was rented out. The service and food were amazing. Highlights of course were the brisket, but the rids were also fantastic. Sausage was a bit dry. Sides were decent, but nothing to write home about. No need for sauce here, I did try the sauce and it was meh. That brisket is the best for a reason, wow.

We got there before they opened and waited for about three hours to eat and it was worth it. They ran out of a sausage we had initially ordered so they comped the sausage we had and snuck in a bit of extra. Very nice staff, and fantastic barbeque. Good lean to fat ratio on everything. If you go make sure to sample everything.
