Some of the very best barbecued meats I've ever tasted! Also very impressive staff and cooks! The atmosphere is fun and comfortable. Normally a long wait but well worth every minute of it!

Probably the best BBQ I've eaten in a very long time.
It's as good as you heard. Get the beef ribs if available.
Super delicious place. We are from NC and went on vacation to San Antonio and a lot of people were telling us about Franklin barbecue in Austin, so we didn't think for a long time and went to Austin for a day. The line there was huge but we could go inside and get some beer or water. When we were closer to the entrance the owner come down to us and explained the situation and that they are getting low on everything. So we got worried for a sec. But luckily when we got our turn they still had some brisket that was the best brisket me and my husband ever tried. Also we got sausages which were also great. My recommendation is to get there as early as possible so you would not have to worry that you will starve to death as they can be sold out. This place is definitely recommend if you are visiting Austin
The Brisket pulled apart with my fork and it was amazing. The ribs had a wondefuk pepper taste to them and the skin on the suasage was crisp and delicious. I can say i've had better pulled pork and didnt try the turkey. But the peolle were friendly and knowledgable. Cash out guy recommended Big Red with the ribs and he wasnt wrong... well worth the wait and the fact they let you BYOB.. come on cant beat it...
Amazing BBQ.. There is a reason this place has the reputation of being amongst the best BBQ in the area. Try some of everything but definitely don't miss the signature brisket.
The best brisket I've had. Everything on the menu was delicious and worth the 5 he wait in line(get there by 6 am if you want to the 1st in). What makes Franklin's the best is the service. They were helpful, friendly, and not afraid to talk BBQ!
Simply the best BBQ I have ever had in my life!!!
Had to wait 4h20min in line to get in but was worth it (at least once). Luckily there are ladies from the place selling drinks while you wait.
Wow. Just wow. Brisket and ribs were out of this world. Takeout is an incredible secret of you can manage to smart a reservation 6 weeks in advance. Also, don't overlook their Pies.
Hands down the best brisket I ve had in the states. Unbelievably delicious. And don t be shy with ordering as they ll try to accommodate. I asked for 1 lb of brisket but with 2 slices lean, the rest moist, and some barky slices/burnt ends if available and they gave me exactly that. They re awesome.
Make sure to get here no later than 9am if you want everything though. I got here at 8am on a Friday in January and was about the 40-50th person there. I ate around 12:15/12:30ish.
There is no better BBQ. Worth the 2 hour wait in line.
Wow!!! Worth the long line waiting.@11am 2.5 hrs, came back 12:30 for 1 hr wait
BBQ, so great. Nothing but great experiences here. The place has a great feel to it.
Food was worth waiting for. Pecan pie was amazing!!
NO EXPERIENCE SINCE EVERYONE TELLS ME THE WAIT IS TWO HOURS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHEN IT ISN'T TWO HOURS SO I COULD GO.
Outstanding food the best thing we ve eaten in Austin on our vacation.
Best brisket in existence. The line was an experience to cross off the list. I didnt listen to many reviews and advice from many others about not getting the pork, which wasn't bad but not something to wait 4 1/2 hours for. The ribs were among the best I have ever had. The sausage and Turkey was excellent but certainly not the best. Although I may have gotten the sausage on an off day because I have heard many say the sausage is the best. The brisket (you must order moist!) is breathtakingly good. Somehow, even after all the hype and all the waiting, it still shocks you at how good it is. Focus on the brisket. Also, I went on a Tuesday morning during an arctic blast. It was in the 20s with a wicked breeze. The line is never NOT there. We were the 2nd people there. The first person got there at 645am, we got there at 715am. The 3rd at 730am. By 830, they were lined up off the ramp. Them they started to pour in. Sometime between 9 and 930 they line had started wrapping around the building
Over price and it's a minimum of an order you can get. You can't purchase anything small for one person.
Best brisket you can find on this earth. Ribs are pretty great, sausage is good but nothing matches the brisket. Showed up at 9:00AM waited exactly 3 hours to eat. Was sold out within 1.5 hours of being open.
It absolutely lives up to the hype and is an event unto itself. Snow's in Lexington is a pilgrimage for the BBQ enthusiast. Franklin is a world-famous establishment and that is evident by the people who you wait in line with. There was a doctor from Hawaii and folks from mainland China as well as oilfield professionals from West Texas. It is 100% worth the wait and completely lives up to its reputation.
Got there at 10:30, got food around 1.they did bring us a chop beef sandwich as a free snack around noon.
Well worth the wait. I'm not a ribs person but I would eat these ribs all day.
We love Franklin's!! The staff is beyond helpful. We drive a 40 ft straight truck and when we pulled up Jordan helped us with a place to park our rig and explain to us how to order food. Jordan was even kind enough to have Kevin the General Manager come to help us get some brisket that was sold out online. Kevin was so very helpful even had Piper ready to help us when I called in to add my Brisket. They went as far as to deliver it to our truck. The person who delivered "I am sorry we did not get your name" but you were helpful in getting us out of our parking area. We are beyond Thankful for your customer service and we will be back!!

You like the original Texas BBQ? Go to Franklin BBQ. The barbeques melts in your mouth and has this unique taste.
There would have been 5 stars if there weren't the opening hours and the long line in front of the entrance. A real pain in the neck !
Obviously they can afford it to be open only 3 to 4 hours a day (Monday closed).
The food is great but customer satisfaction is not an issue here, when it comes to people who can not afford a 4 hour lunch break or kinds and elderly people who can never wait that long in the line.
This might feel hip in New York, but this is not the Austin hospitality style !

Franklin is the best BBQ in the world, no question. Now they are serving fantastic tacos and coffee to the hundreds of customers waiting for them to open. Totally worth the 4 hour wait.
Best brisket there is, period. The ribs and sausage were really good too!
3rd or 4th best BBQ in Austin. Micklethwait is far superior. However, I have yet to try their beef rib as its a Saturday only thing and those idiots start waiting in line at 5:30 am. John Muller BBQ is better too.
Awesome BBQ best ribs I've ever had still don't know why it took so long to get there though
Food's very good, dunno if it's worth the RIDICULOUS wait tho... There are quite a few other places to get amazing BBQ with 1/10 the ordeal!
Waited for 30 minutes, then advised that all in the line would be served and no more. 15 minutes later said they ran out of food...never again...
Way to salty. Bbq great. It's hard to remove but easy to add.
Definitely worth the wait in line. I see why it is "the best in the universe".
If you're in Austin, or perhaps you're not, you've probably heard of Franklin's. They're known all over the nation, & the world.
If you've read that you'll stand in line for a long time, that's a fact! Don't be disheartened! Find a few friends, & make it an outting.
Here are a few ideas. If you drink, bring some beer or a beverage.Coolers are more than welcome. Be sure to bring chairs, & if you really like to plan, I recommend you bring a table, & some board games.
Also, the food at Franklin is everything it's hyped to be! It's delicious. We tried one of each meat of some, lol.
Does that mean it's worth standing in line for 4 hours for? No! It is however worth enjoying with friends, & if you don't want to wait you can skip the line by ordering atleast 2 days in advance. That enables you to walk up, get your food & leave.
Also, you can walk into the building at any time for Souvenirs, or drinks.
Enjoy, guys!!
Well worth the outrageously long line to get in. Sometimes 3 hours or more. Best BBQ ever!
The best brisket, pulled pork, and pork ribs I've ever had bar none. It's an experience. Get here early, bring chairs, bring drinks because you will wait. The food is totally worth it!
Got there at around 1pm. Waited in line for about an hour. Atmosphere outside was great. People talking about BBQ while it was misting. The brisket was well worth it. Amazing!! The sausage snapped just like it's suppose to. Keep up the great work guys.
Fantastic BBQ, we arrived at 10am and were eating by 13h00 on a Friday. Long queues so expect to wait awhile for food however it's well worth the wait. Food is ordered by pound or 1/2 pound. Try the brisket and pork ribs.
Very good beef ribs. The wait is crazy but that is part of the draw
Love the brisket! Very friendly staff! Desserts are good, sides are hit-or-miss. They're known for their BBQ meat, not sides.
Not only the best brisket I've ever eaten, it's the best meal of any kind I've ever eaten.
Poor customer service I ordered online they only told me they have half of pound of turkey. The guy wanted to force me to replace it with ribs but I already got 2 pounds. If you order online and they are forcing you to get a pound no half s why now they are offering half pounds makes no sense they should have told that one day before.
The food is very good, but i would much rather have a slice of garlic bread rather than the sliced white bread.
The lines can get pretty long here so make sure you arrive super early. Like hours before they open. Best to come with friends to pass the time. Brisket is probably the best I've tried. If you're in Austin make some time to come out here
Best brisket ever no contest. Worth the wait, get there 8 to 9am on weekdays to get served by noon.
They live up to the reputation, but be warned GET THERE EARLY. They may close at 3pm but it's not unlikely for them to run out of brisket by 2pm on a busy day. Brisket, beans, and sausage...all worth the trip from Houston.
I traveled from Pittsburgh to Houston for a Comic Con and made it a point to drive to Austin for this Barbecue. The wait in line is serious. GET THERE EARLY. If you want a specific kind of meat, GET THERE EARLY. They sell out everyday. The brisket is Serious and tasty! Ribs are off the chain! Sides dishes are good, seating it tight and if it is busy may be none to be had. Service is fair to good. A little impersonable. This place tastes good. This place just is barbecue period. it's worth the WAIT on any day. GET THERE EARLY.
Definitely the best barbeque I've had ever! We were quite lucky because the day we came it was rainy and so the line wasn't as long as it usually would be. We came around 11am, the line was already out the door and down the parking lot with the coffee truck. The wait from there was actually only 1.5 hours (compared to the estimated time of 2.5).
The staff that comes out to take your estimated order also told us that they would only have sausage and brisket left so quite a few people left and decided not to wait. I'm so glad we stayed! We ended up getting a little bit of everything.
My favorite was the fattier brisket, pulled pork and sausage. The turkey was also surpringly moist and I usually don't like turkey because the meat is so dry. The pork ribs were the meat that I liked least, still really good just too salty for my taste.
Definitely worth the wait, come here if you're in Austin!
Hands down the best BBQ in Texas. The best experience at a restaurant. Cannot wait to make the trip down again and happily wait in line 5 hours.
I'll admit I was a bit skeptical when Cain (the super friendly staff managing the line) told us it would be a two hour wait.
It looked like a line for a popular roller coaster. Really though, how much better can someone smoke meat? They even provide folding chairs to relax in line while waiting. Instead we stood and got some emailing done for work.
When we finally sat down to these platters of BBQ local meat, we were not disappointed. Franklin BBQ delivered on the hype. The brisket is considered the best BBQ in the universe. And it was the star - the texture as delicate as it was flavorful. The pulled pork was spot on too, and the turkey as tasty as the best Thanksgiving. Coleslaw was crisp and clean and baked pinto beans hearty, smoky, and not syrupy. Needless to say it was worth the wait.
Cain was the real star though. He embraced us as friends, with information, smiles, and an invitation to see the smoker room after our meal.
We were impressed by the 5 massive smokers made from old propane tanks! The smell of wood smoked mixed with real Texas BBQ will stick with us long after we depart Austin this Saturday!
Pre-ordered food for a family get-together. As always the food is great and service was friendly. New preorder system is super fast compared to days past.
Contrary to popular opinion, I thought the pork ribs were better than the brisket! Try them both and make sure you get a pie to finish off the meal.
Keep in mind that the line is crazy long!
The 4 hour line sounds painful, but with a good book to read and good friends to talk to it was the best way to spend a Friday morning.
Definitely worth the wait. Best barbeque in Texas = Best barbeque in America = Best barbeque in the world!
Amazing staff and BBQ to die for. Expect a wait, but well worth it.
Had the privilege of dining here and actually meeting the owner when I dined here. Superb BBQ, juicy. Be prepared to wait for your turn though!
Best Brisket I ever had. Get there early. The food sells out fast.
The ribs, brisket and sausage were delicious. You don't come for Texas bar b que to have the pulled pork, stick with the brisket.
Have it delivered to avoid the wait. Just as good. Brisket, chicken, sausage, potato salad, beans and slaw served with their espresso bbq sauce.
Best bbq I have ever had, hands down. Super friendly staff, and it as well worth waiting in line
Best ribs ever! Tender and smoky. The line is very very long though.
We arrive there at 7:00 AM, and sit down to eat by 11:40 AM, and it was worth it;
If you don't know how much food you may order, someone pass very early thru the line while you are waiting, and gives you an estimate considering your group.
It is BYOB, and you can drink within the premises.
They sell coffee and tacos, I'll recommend the potato with chorizo.
The larger your group, the better.... that way you can order from everything on the menu, and try a bit of all the food.
I loved The Brisket, and the Cow Ribs...
Just .... WOW... Long wait BUT they came to gave us a snack (pulled pork in a slice of bread). The waiting line was in the shade and there were fans to cool us down. They also offered free water and we could use the bathroom inside. Also, they have camping chairs that we can borrow outside. I would go back anytime! Incredible food experience!!!
Excellent BBQ. They have to do something about the 1.5 hour wait though!
It's as Good as "they" say... Waited years as the wait time to get in was too long. Finally, The owner of our business was tired of me talking about never trying them. Brisket, turkey, pork ribs, pulled pork, the brisket, turkey and pulled pork are the best I have ever had. They bested Black's, Smitty's, Kreuz, County Line, Salt Lick. Keith's has better ribs. Their main sauce is excellent, vinegar sauce is great on the pulled pork as recommended. Their reputation is well earned and thank you Rob for a great experience.
I have never been to this location, but too hear my family tell me about it....WOW!!!My Family and I will be there this summer....
Ehh I'll give this place 5 stars. Waited 3.5 hours in the cold. Overall the food wasn't too bad. I don't really have anything to compare this to but I wasn't blown away by the food.
Absolutely amazing! Very worth the hype, and highly recommend getting there as early as you possibly can to get there before they sell out (lines on Saturday start as early as 5am!) But the brisket is probably one of the top three things I've ever had in my mouth. Savor it and enjoy, something everyone should do atleast once! (Also, Julie who works there is wonderful, and if you ask her nicely, you MIGHT get to go in the back and see the actual smokers and learn how they make their magic )
Waited 4 hrs for the place to open, but well worth it. Good conversation to pass our time. The staff was extremely friendly & helpful. If you have a fear of grease, probably not the place for you. Key lime pie was outstanding! Show up no later than 8am if you wanna be in the first group to eat. You can order a week+ in advance to pickup & avoid the line.
Best BBQ I have ever had, hands down! Their brisket is to die for! Always worth the wait but plan for it to be your whole morning....but do it because you won't be disappointed. If you can manage to order togo, they will definitely hook you up with great BBQ on the run without the long wait.
A hack is to order ahead a few weeks before your visit and then to take the food to picnic benches at a nearby park!
Most incredible BBQ in the world. Worth the 4 hour wait. Would do it again in a heart beat.

To anyone and everyone who feels they cannot give Franklin a solid 5, you don t know or understand true Texas BBQ. Standing in line is Not a reason to lower a rating. There is a reason the line is long every day rain, cold, or hot for 9+ years, yes, every single day. It s not their fault that they sell out. They smoke over 100 briskets alone, every day(that s not including advance orders). How many more do you want? That s over 50 cows every day.
Yes, there are others that can match Franklin, but no one better every time, every day. Give the guy credit. He has a major part in making the BBQ movement what it is today. He is also the Only James Beard top chef winner for BBQ ever. Don t hate a BBQ fanatic who started at the very bottom and rose to the top.
It's real-deal bar-b-que. Some of the best in Austin!
Reading these 1 star reviews is absolutely hilarious. Yes, you have to arrive earlier than 8-9am if you want a shot at all the meats, especially on a weekend. Their brisket is amazing. I think if I ordered again I'd probably skip the sausage and turkey and add on more brisket.
Amazing! Be prepared to get in line early am for lunch which sell's out by 10am with so many people in line. I'm not a line fan, but it created an amazing life long memory with my good buddy.
This is some of the best bbq i have ever had people wait for hours to get in some times. Their hours are from 11:00 am until they sell out. I would suggest getting enough to take some home Even left overs of this bbq are amazing. To add to my first review, I found out that you can place an order for pick up. The order has to be made in advance, week in advance and there is a 5 lb minimum. 5 lbs of bbq might sound like a lot, but if you ask around people will always pitch in to get some of that Franklin goodness.
