Fort Belvoir Commissary Review

Great prices, great selection, but a crazy aisle set up. Products not well categorized.

Great place to shop, lots of items. Prices are reasonable too.

If you would only place parking lane markers to assist shoppers (and bagging folks) find our cars, perhaps you'd earn higher rating. It strikes me that this wasn't done upon opening the facility.

Always a good visit. Long drive but do it because of large selection and low prices. Wide isles and short wait for check out.

As far as commissaries this one just rocks! If you cannot find it here not sure it exists. Let me rephrase the previous thought...if they have it in stock you will find it. The inventory system seems to be hit or miss and sometimes items will be out of stock for months and then suddenly appear again. Good areas are wide open aisles and produce as fresh as a regular grocery on the economy. Also things turn over so quickly that expired products or freezer burnt items are never an issue. Prices are definitely better for general household cleaners, boxed or canned food and fresh meat. However produce and speciality type items are generally just a few cents cheaper but rarely is anything more expensive than on the economy.
It has downfalls for sure. Just too big some days to contemplate getting down all the aisles I need to go down. This is a new commissary and considering how quickly some of freezers, bathrooms and cases have deteriorated means this build was cheaped out tremendously. The biggest area of common complaint and one that drives all of us shoppers batty is why they have taken the main aisle in front of the cashiers and cluttered it up with displays of seasonal candies etc. YOU CANNOT MOVE if busy and shoppers banging into each other and throwing out killer glares left and right. If you have 2 carts, and often I do, I am driving one of them into these displays while I try to avoid oncoming carts. Also there is no cart parking so people abandon their first cart somewhere in this aisle too. Just a nightmare some days! Despite the downfalls I use this as a way to save some dollars over buying everything on the economy. Have an idea what you want before coming in though because you can lose alot of time wandering thru this massive place.

Nice commissary with a large variety of items. There is a health food section. Great prices.

Always enjoy shopping at the commissary. Good deli selection along with a variety of anything you can possibly want to cook/eat. Keep up the good work. Thanks for all you do.

Great prices most of the time. Busy except early morning

The store is nice, Baught some chicken a few months back and once we got home and opened it we realized it was spoiled and smelled terrible. We haven't been back to the commissary since.

Not too busy at 2 PM, but there was a shortage of grocery baggers today.

Fastest service that I have ever received from a military facility. Everyone was very accommodating. The doctor was very compassionate. The hospital operates at a very high standard. OUTSTANDING!!!

Outstanding Commissary. Customer service it's second to none. Love this place for my shopping.

Clean, you can only shop if you have a military id.

Can't really say I see a significant savings compared to local chains but this place is huge, clean and we'll stocked.

Absolute worst place on the planet. The only benefit of this commissary is the price and selection of meats/fish. Otherwise, this place ruins my day. Do yourself a favor and just drive off base.

Well stocked, very large. A very good military commissary.

Great new facility. Much improved layout, wider isles. All departments have expanded and upgraded. Most notably the seafood/fish monger. Great new selections there and (vendor) staff is obviously proud of their new set up. Deli, Produce, Meat all bigger with better selection. Moral of commisary workers and cashiers seems to be high as well. New sushi vendor will do custom trays. Parking lot needs to have row signage so I can remember where I parked.

Excellent store. Selection compared to normal grocery stores is inferior, but no more than any other commissary. The staff are excellent though, and bend over backwards to help you.

Good selection of foods at very good prices - the perfect place for military retirees.

Great prices, naturally, and I like the expanded self-service checkout area.

This is the largest commissary I have visited. Many options. It also contains a health food section with specialized refrigerated options.

Good selection, go during of hours it gets really busy.

Always EXTREMELY clean, things are easy to find, and the staff have always been very courteous and friendly.

Good selection of frozen vegetables, such as different types of greens. Very poor and limited selection of no/low-fat, low/no salt-added, low/no sugar-added foods. Very poor selection of whole wheat pasta varieties. Good value in meats.

Always the best cashiers and baggers. Quick efficient and courteous.

This new commissary is huge!!! If they don't have it you don't need it!!!

Like the sales and the freshness of the food. Don't like that most of the cashiers have someone bagging for tips, and they want to bring the groceries to your car, but I usually don't carry cash with me and they are never happy with me for telling them no thank you. I had to put all my groceries back in the cart and move to the one "self bagging" cashier... not nice at all

Probably the very best place to buy fresh meat ,vegetables, and dairy products.

Have a lane without baggers. I don t need a guilt trip every time I buy groceries.

The cashier was rude. Ask to have items bagged separately and she felt it was ok to ask why. It none of her business she just needed to do her job

Newly remodeled modernized. Huge, beautiful, and well stocked.

Excellent service from the baggers. The cashiers all seemed unhappy. The selection is standard. I have seen people out in requests and then have them filled so that is a nice thing about this store.

The prices have gone up and the items they carry has gone down

I drive all the way from Quantico to go here every Sunday . The second biggest commissary I've been to. The NEX at Pearl Harbor is enormous lol. The options and fast lanes is a blessing

Best stateside commissary experience I've had. Big, well-stocked and only long lines during holiday season. A number of different ethnic food sections and the fresh fish station always has a good variety.

So much better than the old Commissary! Well stocked, good variety. Convenient to the Exchange.

Spectacular upgrades to the new facility. Light, bright and lots of organic additions on the shelves. Worth the drive!

I love the new ft belvoir commissary I have not been there in over 2 years. But I love it the fast food was outstanding and freshly cooked and served hot. Thank you
