The Forest Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is doing an average job. They provide some basic services and resources, but there is definitely room for improvement. The website is decent, but it could be more user-friendly. Overall, they are just okay.

Our business, Express Employment Professionals, joined the Forest Lake Area Chamber when we opened in 2015. The Chamber has helped us make friends, network with local community leaders, market our services, and stay educated on business-related topics. Nannette does a great job because she cares about helping people. The Chamber has been a key part of us growing and becoming profitable.
Writting a review not of the Chamber but to let Forest Lake area people know how frustrating it was to rent a pontoon trailer from Hallberg Marine in Wyoming, MN & have the owner treat me with such great disrespect. The trailer wench pin sheared off while he was cranking the siccors trailer up to secure the pontoon once it was loaded & it caused my husband to be thrown back into our vehicle. I went to explain to the rental return manager what happened & he accused with sheer anger in his voice this: he over torked the handle why did he do THAT? He was acussing my husband of misuse of the property when in fact it was poor quality of their equipment. It was a replaced wench on the trailer so it was clear this has been a problem before..then I was kicked off the property by Gene Hallberg told not ever to come there again & never refer any family or friends to his business! How rude! Clearly the sign must not mean anything that a customer that had been coming there for nearly 30 years means nothing to them! We have been buying parts & using various services from Hallberg s since 1990, and that means nothing to them! Seriously!! Oh sad that this well known business treats people so poorly! The trailer had 4 tires of which one was completely bald: had we had a blow out there was no spare. When we asked about the pin for the trailer hitch the kid who brought us the trailer at first had no clue what we were tracking about. Ge looked at the hitch & came back with a nut & bolt & said there you go. When the rental manager unhooked the trailer hitch didn t even take the bolt & nut with him! I was absolutely astonished at this behavior of how this manager then kept coming back to me while I was getting paper work from the office wanting to explain himself & yet he had kicked me out & told me just LEAVE! It was the worst experience I have had in years!
Nannette does a great job promoting our local businesses, organizing events, and so many other things that sometimes go unrecognized. She's very energetic, genuinely cares about all of our businesses, and finds ways to help them thrive. Kudos to FLAAC and Nannette!
