Complete and utter lack of respect for guests at this "adults only" resort, that promises a "quiet and romantic getaway". Closer to a frat party that you get hosed for $300/night.
We came for the gemstone convention, and wanted to stay somewhere relaxing and beautiful.
The resort is undoubtedly well kept, but the classless staff and guests are what will ensure we will never come back.
Sad, as we would have considered hosting our own retreats at this good looking resort located in the gemstone capital of Canada... but as they say... all that glitters is not gold!

Great place to relax and unwind. The rooms are a little dated, but clean. This is a beautiful little hideaway that gives you plenty of personal space but allows some socializing if you want it.
TLDR version: Carefree, lots to do, gorgeous, fun and simple!

Ok the first part of my post was day one at the resort. After spending 6 nights I feel I needed to write a more complete review.
Style: My first impression when arriving at footprints was WOW! My fiancee and I were met by the hostess who was very friendly and informative. She gave us a tour of the resort and we were awestruck by how well designed the place is. It truly is gorgeous and so unique.
Finishing touches such as tiki huts, massive dock with Muskoka chairs, cottage cabins give it a very neat resort theme.
Everything you need: While staying at the resort you are welcome to use all of the amenities including water sports, diving board, slide, fire pits, fireplace, hot tub, mountain bikes, ping pong, basketball, entertainment area, etc.
There is a full kitchen with commercial refrigerators to store your food. One indoor and one outdoor stove and tons of barbecues to make sure no one is ever waiting to cook.
The concept is a mix between camping, cottaging and hotel resort. You take care of yourself, clean up after you are done using stuff so the next people are able to use everything.
Make it your own: My, now, wife and I held our wedding at the resort this week. We were looking for a very relaxed ceremony we could invite our closest, most favorite people in the world to come and enjoy a great time. The owners helped us accomplish an amazing vacation for all of our friends. They offered so much to make our wedding spectacular. From offering to provide decorations and accommodating by setting up areas for us. I could see how anyone looking to host a fancy ceremony would love this place. We graciously declined the suggestions because while people dressed up a little bit for the ceremony our goal was to be relaxed and keep it simple.
Mindset: If you are looking for an upscale DIY vacation this place is just wicked. If you are looking to host a wedding getaway here I would strongly recommend it. If you are looking to get away for a few days or a week you will not get bored. If you like a laid back easy going atmosphere this is your spot.
The staff: From the maintenance guy to the hostess to the owners and their family. Everyone was so positive and happy.
The vision they hold for the resort is so great. They are trying to find unique fun ways to appeal to their guests and it is definitely working.
I felt so inspired by the work that is going into this place. They were constantly making improvements and making sure every little detail was considered.

We met so many awesome people this week. Everyone staying at the resort got to know each other and spent a lot of our time socializing as a large group. It was an absolute blast. Even the owners and their family were welcomed to join us when they had some spare time. Everyone got along so well.
Hopefully they will read the post and offer their thoughts as well so that others can find their way to this great place.
As well we are already making plans to celebrate our anniversary returning to the resort with friends. Hopefully we all meet again!

This has been my 3rd time here. I ended up going twice last summer. Last year I brought the in laws and this year my own parents from Ireland. Everyone loved it. The facilities are great, I love the whole set up. Over the years ive seen how much effort goes into improving the resort, its stunning. The beach by the lake is a great place to enjoy a drink during the day, there's numerous firepits & BBQ's scattered around the resort. You always get talking to other couples too which adds to the overall experience. About 15-20 minute drive to Bancroft too in case you need supplies.
Theres a beautiful patio/decking area overlooking the lake, which also has a hot tub. There's also a spacious communal kitchen that can be used to make breakfast and prepare your BBQ. Everytime I rolled up I was always greeted by the host Jen who checks us in and ensures we're happy with everything. This place just gets better and better as time goes on. I would highly recommend it and encourage anyone to try it out. You wouldn't be disappointed. I'll keep coming back that's for sure
Amazing resort. Owners were very nice and accommodating. We camped and were able to choose from a variety of places to set up as there are no actually campsites per-say. Lake was great and warm, just watch out for those leeches. The company was great and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Lots of amenities free to use such as an indoor and outdoor kitchen, bbqs, stand up paddleboards, kayaks, etc. Great experience overall, will be cancelling plans elsewhere to come back again this year.
Amazing place! It was me and my friend's first time camping and it was perfect for us. We also got stuck in the middle of rainstorm and the owners didn't mind if we ended up crashing at the common area/building. Will come back and recommend this place to others for sure! Also, free use paddleboards were a nice touch
Really nice spot! We found it to be a much smaller overall area (and lake) than we had imagined based on the photos, so it felt a bit crowded; the cabins were in close proximity and encircled the fire pit so it felt more like a camp than a resort, but it was a very clean and well maintained property and we had a lovely weekend there, even without the hot tub and mini pool open (due to Covid). We loved the slide island, and super-loved feeding the friendly resident chipmunks. Would definitely recommend for a short stay, but not the place to go if you want privacy or a big place to explore and wander. Thanks :)

We even got to meet the owner and some other people staying there. Everyone is wonderful and Ray, the manager is so helpful and wants to make sure you have all that you need.
No as advertised!!! This is NOT a resort but fancy camping... The shower area is open so 5 ppl can shower at once and see each other you NOT KIDDING AND IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WHEN you arrive TOO BAD NO REFUND!!
Such an amazing spot! We had a really great 3 night stay at Footprints for our anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised with a mini bottle of champagne, chocolates and glasses in our room upon arrival. Footprints is a charmingly renovated property with so many beautiful places for individuals, couples or groups to lounge and socialize (while still safely practicing social distancing). I really enjoyed drinking my morning coffee down on the dock by the water and using the stand up paddle boards /kayaks during the day. There was three large fire pit areas for all of the guests to enjoy into the evenings (lots of fire wood is provided). I would highly recommend Footprints resort and will be back again and again. The staff is very friendly and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect! The rooms were very clean. Glamping at its finest.
Clean cabin rooms and ideal for a short getaway. Enough space for private time/meals or socializing with other guests. The lake is good for swimming/water activities and lots of hiking trails to nearby lakes. The cabin rate is great value for a long weekend but can seem on the higher end for off peak summer weekends.
Fantastic 2 day getaway! Accomodations are comfortable. Owners and staff are friendly and made us feel very welcomed. Plenty to do and see in the area. Will return!
Only 5 stars because 10 isn't an option! Footprints is the most peaceful, romantic, beautiful, and abundant with amenities resort I have ever been to, and I recommend it to You completely! My fiance proposed here, and he said it took him all week to do because there is honestly not a single location that isn't picture perfect for such a romantic occasion. There is lots to do, on water and on-land, all on the resort and all included in the super fair prices for lodging. All options for accommodations are luxurious. We stayed in one of the newly built villas but the cabins, rooms and even campground for tents and trailers seemed so nice we promised we'll try those next time, and we are going back! Possibly for the wedding! I could go on and on, we so thoroughly enjoyed our time here and our hosts were so amazing, they felt like friends the minute we got there. They have thought of everything, jacuzzis, pool, watersports, biking, trails, TV, showers, etc., the main understanding that everything is free to use; just be courteous and return it where you found it and clean up after yourself. It's a resort only for adults, so that level of respect is easy to maintain, and we all want it to be just as beautiful for the next guests and our next visit, so who wouldn't! :) You are going to have a wonderful stay here. Footprints resort was a great experience. Not a typical resort, more Glamping like than an all inclusive "Resort".
We stayed in the Hotel style room, King Bed, Shower, toilet, sink, TV and a small fridge. Very comfortable.
The resort amenities were very nice. Shared Kitchen, with everything supplied but chefs and food (like I said Glamping). A beautiful natural, spring fed crystal clear lake, with a nice beach area and dock. 4 Paddle boards, 2 canoes, 2 Kayaks and a diving dock available for your use.
The owner and the staff, were extremely helpful and tried to accommodate any reasonable requests.
Overall I enjoyed the experience and plan on coming back
Amazing location, beautiful lake and amenities, great equipment! We camped for 2 nights, could not be more impressed. Had so much fun using the tiki bar to cook for the 2 of us. Will be returning next year for sure!
We stayed here the July long weekend,we stayed in one of the cabins,it was perfect,it had a bed and a min fridge,the resort itself was absolutely gorgeous,the host was a very nice lady and was very helpful for any questions we had.We ran into the owner a few times and he was very friendly and always asked us if everything was ok.We are definatly planning to go back next summer.I almost forgot all the guests there were very friendly and we actually played games together and sat around the fire...Thank you again Footprints,see ya next summer
Truthfully speaking the most welcoming. Clean inviting friendly romantic fun place ever. Been to so many places and travelled quite a lot. Never been to a place that respect their guests so much. Host Jen is the sugar of the resort. Most affordable and worth every foot print you make in there. Couples family or friends it's perfect for anything and everything it fits you how you want. Thank you footprint resort. I respect how you respect your guest in every corner there is exactly made for anything you need.
Sadly Covid-19 dampened the stay, but overall a good experience. Very laid back, enjoyable, comfortable. We stayed in the cabins with 2 price bathroom, very comfortable - of the temperature was higher outside or humid, I m sure wouldn t be too comfortable (I enjoy sleeping cold).
This place definitely much better when you go with multiple couples - during our stay, there were two larger groups that were very clicky, so made it more difficult to interact.
We enjoyed the stay, hot tubs all closed due to covid, very reasonably priced. Great cooking facilities with multiple areas to cook. Well kept and maintained.
Don't go there alone. Its an experience for couples, small and big groups. Bring food and clothes. They provide everything you need such as grills, utensils, towels, soup etc etc. There is a wide variety of activities you can do there.
this is a beautiful spot just the place we needed.time to relax time to share and so clean.both of us want to go back again. would highly recomend this to any couple looking to get away and forget all the B.S of life. Thanks so much and we will be seeing you again.<3
Great deal for the 4 night, mid-week stay. We stayed in the Bunkie cabins and they're small as you would expect but clean and comfortable. The outdoor kitchen is amazing and has everything you would need over and above the multiple bbqs on site. Staff were all really friendly and helpful too. Only thing to mention would be the cabins are all really close together so it's not private if that's what you're looking for. Make sure to check out the nearby beach on old diamond lake rd - a quiet and relaxing spot to chill out.
This Resort is top of the line without a question. The owners and staff make you feel right at home, there is a beautiful lake, lots of water sports and bikes provided by the resort. The Grounds and facility's are always clean, there are trails to loose yourself in nature. There is a full kitchen, commercial fridge, and cutlery available, there are propane BBQs available as well. Show up with your food, that's all you will need. There are cabins, hotel rooms and camping available. The club house is absolutely gorgeous. Don't miss out on visiting this place, there is no question we will be back regularly.
I love love love this place. It's an amazing get away for me and my boyfriend .. or me and my friends.. I most definitely recommend it to anyone that wants a nice weekend get away from the city !
