Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, Inc Review

Nice place and historical monument. Good food bank.

The note on recieving is spot on. So I arrived at 0800 for a 0900 appt. Gotoffloaded at 0915. They are by appointment only so make sure you have one. No overnight parking however there is a loves and a pilot about 5 miles out. If you do decide to come early their is parking at the stripes gas station. Limited spots 3 at the most. When you get here pull in first drive and pull along fire lane then check in. They open at 0800 but load outgoing trucks so stay closer to your appt. Time

They provide valuable food provision services to those who need them.

Went to go get in line at bert ogden where i was made to go around and get in line starting by expressway heading north. The time was at 9 am then I come to see pharr pd moving traffic then i notice all the streets we have to pass to stay in line and make it to bert ogden made it at 10:20 then got turn down. Pharr pd and edinburg pd need to be fair with one line traffic because alot off us were turn down due too all does car that cut in. Hungry and worried for me and my family. Wont go through this again just to be turn down. Oh well there is a GOD who get me will get time through this struggle. There is all this all this sponsors donating yet they stop closing the line before 11:00 .

The lady that was supposed to call me back never did. I desperately needed diapers at the time and she kept telling me she had clients and that she would go check in the back when she got a chance that because she was the only one who worked that department. I called 2 days and she told me the same thing. It s been a month now and she still has not called me back. I don t need the diapers anymore (thank God) but she didn t go that extra mile like I read on other reviews about this company.

They starting to give expired food and not to sure to go and get foods from there. No more

My visit at the food bank was very good two workers are we're very helpful courteous or not an angry mode quantities we're very generous there are blessing Foods in need I would highly recommend you go to the food bank God bless all those in need and God bless those who provided thank you Lord

A great place to get volunteer hours while simultaneously helping out a good cause. It's also easy to apply for help if needed

When I go they offer me yoga or powder milk. Today.In this month of July. 2019. The person who attended me, in the first instance did not offer me, even telling him that in the application he said that he will explain why he needed supplement food, and specify that he would have 3 adults to offer them. Waited 2.5 hours in line to find out I need to be registered to get assistance (never needed it in the past???) Explained I couldn't go inside to register (over 65 with ALL co-morbidities) line had approx. 40+ people. Told me I was holding up the line. Asked another worker who just shrugged. SHAMEFUL lack of assistance!!!!!!!
UPDATE:
After I wrote this and a few other similar reviews about the Food Bank the CEO of the Food Bank called me personally and apologized profusely. He had me explain what happened (and listened). He sent a person by my residence with food bags (the same as I would have received in line). He also called me back the next day to make sure I received them. It is not unusual to get poor service now days. What is unusual is for people especially of authority to take responsibility for a mistake and make an effort to resolve it . Kudo's

They'll help you out with emergency food the first time and help you file in paperwork for monthly help.

This place will help people in need. Its a great place to volunteer. Staff is very humble and nice.i urge you to check it out even of you dont need the help. If you know a family struggling with food send them this way.

The time I went they didn t give me much, but they have a good staff; very friendly
