Historic theater in the pedestrian area of Trieste, the first in Italy dedicated to the great Giuseppe Verdi! Project by a pupil of Piermarini and for some it has vague analogies to La Scala. @ gargio76

The organized tour is highly recommended. I booked the tour at the last moment and I must say that despite being the only one to have booked, the guide was very kind. He told the story of the theater in detail. The tour lasts an hour, and you visit the backstage, the audience, the galleries, the ballet rehearsal room, the choir rehearsal room, the tailor shop ... in short it is absolutely worth it!

The Verdi is the largest gloomy in Trieste .. on the outside there is a very beautiful piazza of the same name where a stage is set up all summer, where every evening various music and cinema events are staged, etc.

The Verdi Theater was inaugurated in 1801 then with the name of Comunale, popularly Teatro Grande, Trieste had five. It takes the name of the composer of Busseto at his death in 1901 by resolution of the municipal council which will change the name also to the opposite Piazza del Teatro in Piazza Verdi. For melodrama lovers, the billboard is usually interesting, without incurring the usual criticisms that all Lyric Seasons bring with them. The orchestra, the choir and the corps are highly esteemed by the critics. The "Verdi" has hosted great names of the national and international Opera. It should be remembered that the architect Piermarini, the author of La Scala in Milan, collaborated on the design. He also saw the "Festival of the Operetta" on stage for some time, with the best artists of the moment, much appreciated by the audience that remembers him with nostalgia. I recommend at least one visit, the price is not binding.

Historic theater of Trieste, it is worthwhile to enter even just for a visit to the structure, the staff is always very welcoming, the bathrooms clean though sometimes very busy during the shows, two bars always available in the intervals. For guests of the former, refreshments are always organized at the end of the show, full of food, drinks and with the opportunity to meet the singers. Guided tours are also available for schools where students are told about the functioning of the theater and its internal organs.
