First. This place has its ups & downs. But one thing s for sure, they provide quality education as good as Ivy leagues. 80% of Professors are great at teaching. Some will even be the reason youre passionate about you re major.

Downside to this place is the QS ranking(doesn t exist on there). But they make up to that by being well known in the community & having connections with big engineering companies.

I graduated may2020 with an Bsc in ME. & am now getting my masters at UCI in MAE. Let me tell you I study with students from berkely & UCSD & I am just as knowledgeable as they are or even better at times.

One of the downsides is the extremely expensive university housing which you re forced as an international student to stay in for 1 year.

Wish FIT imvested a bit more on better parking lol.

Best 4 years of my life. Even though Melbourne is extremely boring. Orlando & miami are 1 & 2:30 hours away.

Don t ever estimate the quality of education FIT is providing. I once did & now know better. Take up that panther pride.

One last thing. You ll get to see rockets taking off every couple weeks from campus. Nasa & cape canaveral are 40mins away.

This is the one of wrost college in united states, they donot show little curtesy toward foreign students, i heared mostly they behave harsh with indian students with all of hopes. They just need money money money. They donot guide or help students properly. Shame on you guys. one of the worst management. Many of my friends who are in this college overcome with many difficulties. Please show some curtesy on indian Students, they come to your universities with alots of hope. Please be polite and make student favour rules, not money earning rules.

Graduated class of 2012. Small class sizes was key here. Also I think the student life culture was great for the area. I am starting a fine career in automotive materials after getting my chemical engineer degree here. I had a jon right out of school

I got my BA from FIT via the online University Alliance program and it was excellent. I liked it so much I decided to get my masters degree through FIT directly. Both programs were excellent and well rounded. As a smaller technological research university it doesn't have a large sprawling campus like a major state school but the quality of the education I received was outstanding. I would highly recommend Florida Tech to anyone looking for a superior engineering or tech based degree.

A racist, sexist, ableist, homophobic circle jerk. Exists to tug off mediocre rich boys and loose them upon STEM fields like a plague. Ethics and Formal Logic/Critical Thinking are viewed with disdain by both students and faculty, as is meritocracy. Gives an intelligent student a feeling of frustration, not unlike a K-12 public school. If you know anyone with intelligence, creativity and a sincere love of Science, steer them away from this cramped hellhole.

The worst experience for any online school I have ever had. They are Vultures when it comes to them wanting money. They are only in it for the money, not the students education. Do not go there ever! They talk a smooth game but in the end it will be the worst decision ever made. I'm regreting ever moment. Down with Flordia Tech!!!!!

Just wanted to say every program at this school can be self-taught for free online don't waste your money I used the internet to teach my self to code and built a portfolio of actual work and not a useless college degree that says you can do the work but you have nothing to show for it the best way to get a tech job is have a portfolio of past work instead of a stamped paper anything most colleges teach is free on the internet and id rather pay a trade school to teach me construction or electrician job skills most trades have guaranteed jobs right out of trade school the only jobs you should go to college for are medical jobs bc you can take the bar card test with paying a college just study law solo until your sure you can pass the bar card test and take it law school isn't worth the money medical jobs are the only one's your force to go to college for

So Far my experience has been positive, I'm still working on my degree in CIS and haven't had any issues. I would say that most of the negative reviews here are from people who don't see education and important as others. If you're going to give a negative review on a school because it doesn't have a party life, it says allot about that individual. People need to stop feeling like they are entitled to fun and games when they actually need to be looking at how they get educated. Fun and partying will happen after you get your degree and start living the real world.

Graduated yesterday 05/04/2019 from this school with my MBA that was done totally online and can say it was truly a great experience. I would consider returning to this school for my Doctorate degree.

Very expensive for a poor education and the administration office takes lots of international students. They provide admits upto an extent that even in graduate class one can see 40 to 50 students. Professors openly say they give poor grades if the class strength doesn't come down to 20 but in-spite of having very few courses students end up either getting poor grades or getting challenged by the professors.

I was there for a 3-month internship last year and it was a great time ! I met new people and made some new friends there. I was like 5 min away from the campus. You can found everything you want on or near the campus. Nice place.
Go Panther !

Crappy, overpriced university for a mediocre education. Also, the financial aid department needs to get their act together. They charged a friend $25K at THE END OF THE SEMESTER and DIDN'T NOTIFY THEM UNTIL EXAM WEEK THAT THEY OWED THE SCHOOL!! I highly recommend that no one goes there unless they want to pay obscene prices for a below average education

They offer good opportunities, but the campus isn't all that great, and the professors aren't all that friendly. They don't even offer what I want to major in. The only thing I'd say is good is location, if I wanted to stay close to home, but I don't. Melbourne is a boring area, I've lived here my whole life; and I don't really see anyone going out of their way to live here.

Online Support is awful. They offer no genuine guidance. They do not convey concern for their students. It's a shame. You can't be proud of a school like this. Financial Aid sucks here! If you aren't 18 or 24 then you won't be considered independent despite it being the absolute truth. How are they allowing some kids ages 19-23 apply as independents. They do racial profiling.

Transferred to University of San Francisco after my freshman year along with some of my other friends that also transferred. Just wasn't the sort of college or college experience we were expecting and the town is dead. Only good thing about Melbourne is the beach.

I joined F.I.T. the year it changed it's name in 1966. Graduated in 1970. The professors were extraordinary as we experienced some of the finest in the nation. F.I.T. was wise enough to find recent retirees with extraordinary credentials. I took chemistry under the man who invented Bufferin, UHF Radiation and antennas from the man who developed the first book on antennas and developed some of the first IF and Aircraft directional equipment, Physics from the retired head of the Physics department at Texas A&M, and the list goes on. An impossible feat for today. An excellent institution for starting a career in science. I retired after a fine career in computer science. I wish all those who follow at this institution the best of everything.

Beware this institution. I was on my forth class towards a Masters and the Professor lost my trust completely due to subjective and unpredictable grading methods. I usually try to make it work with my professor, but after my second surprise grade I threw in the towel. I have two associates and a Bachelors degree and dropped a class for the first time ever!

Graduating soon... I am going to FIT online, and the staff through University Alliance are very helpful and enthusiastic. I really loved my experience through their online curriculum. If you are looking for an easy online university look elsewhere, but if you are looking for a topnotch curriculum this may be the university for you. Please, read the history of FIT and make the decision for yourself. Gooo Panthers!!!

I decided to go through their online program, and I 101% recommended for anyone who cannot go to a campus. You do have to keep up with the work, but it's so worth it because I've learned more through this than classes on a campus. Its also pretty cheap ($3,200) for two classes, compared to nearly $20,000 for classes on a campus. The bisk team is extremely nice and helpful and the overall experience so far is more than I ever expected!

Absolutely ridiculous customer service! Tried to withdrawal from classes before they even started due to a family emergency and was told to "give it a try". First day of classes, I had another family situation come up and decided to withdrawal for good. Suddenly the nice, friendly people that were so helpful in the beginning became very short tempered with me. I sent my books back within the next 2 weeks. Finally received a call this morning that my books were returned "damaged". Literally those books sat unopened in the box until day before class then went right back in the box after choosing to withdrawal. There is absolutely no way that they were returned damaged. Now customer service is telling me that it's my fault and they are refusing to do anything about it. When I said "I'm not paying for them", I was told "that's alright, collections will give you a call". Ridiculous. Would not recommend this company to a single person.

Wrongly accused by a teacher and the staff was very unfair and unwilling to listen to what I had to say. After 3 years of going and almost graduating its such a shame. Maybe a money making scheme to keep me there and get more money. Some of the teachers I don't feel are qualified in the current department I was studying. Things are constantly changing and their college education and training from the early 80's just may not cut it.Academic Advisor was good and helpful but other than that I wouldn't recommend going here.

My daughter is pursuing her bachelors degree in engineering and I am so pleased at how things are going in this very difficult Freshman year with COVID. The communication and approach has been excellent and she has acclimated well to the day to day of college life.

As a place to eat, panther dining hall is all-you-can-eat for about $11 and pretty good for school food. As a university, it is a fifth-rate, over-priced, school with pretensions of being world class. It is known as a school that graduates people with one of the highest debt loads in the world. But, the food is ok.

I had the oportunity to study at Florida Tech. It was an amazing experience. I took many interesting classes with the best professors on campus. I was an undergraduate at the time but now I can say that my mind have changed a lot since I had been there. I hope to get back there to get a PhD someday.

Can not review the campus as I attend the online school. STAY AWAY FROM FIT ONLINE. No assistance from anyone and it is $510 a credit hour. You will have a long recovery from the debt load placed on you. Education here is not worth the cost.

I can't honestly rate my alma mater too good or bad. I definitely believe that college should be as good as the effort applied, and my experience was basically that. As I understand it, the best degrees here are typically marine bio, psych (masters), and aviation. I have heard some criticism of the liberal leanings of profs...but what's new there... Dorms are hit or miss depending on how old they are. Ditto classrooms. Food tends to be a solid "good". The people tend to be pleasant enough. Almost all of my profs were pretty good in the comp-sci major. The school itself is pretty prestigious, so getting a job was a little easier than it might otherwise have been. But the cost criticism is totally justified. Study hard, and you'll probably do fine here or anywhere.

I recently graduated from FIT in Spring 2012. Here is my review:

Pro's:

-Top notch education. All the professors I had here (business major) were WELL beyond qualified and had excellent resumes. From taking classes outside of my major and listening to other students this seemed like a trend at FIT. Also, class sizes are small.

-Location, Location, Location. Your 5 minutes from the beach, you cant beat that. However, beware of going east on university boulevard too far because it turns into a ghetto.
-New Facilities: The newer Harris living quarters are awesome. They are clean and a great space to live in. However, the older dorms are generally hot and not great. Downtown Melbourne can be up and down since its an older crowd and not a college atmosphere.

Cons:
-Women: FIT has very few girls. This is a major problem if your single because even the surrounding areas seem to have very few women. FIT needs to change this cause more women=more guys=more $ for FIT
-Clemente Gym: I worked out almost everyday and the gym is small and packed. FIT needs to seriously upgrade their facilities past high school level; especially since their trying to start a football team.
-Administrative Functions: This might be just a "normal" for most universities but most administrative offices didn't know much about their job or failed in getting things done. You have to keep nagging them and pressuring them to get paperwork done for you otherwise they will forget or put you behind in priority.
-Jobs: There are very few pre-professional jobs for college students in Melbourne besides large companies like Harris, GE, etc. There is a high unemployment rate and it doesn't have the employment opportunities that other locations have. In its defense, Florida has a high rate of unemployment.
-Diversity: There are a bunch of nationalities at FIT. The majority of foreign nationalities come from the Middle East. I put this as a negative because there seems to be a lot of separation between different races and nationalities at FIT. The Caribbean people have their own "club" and stay to themselves while the people from the Middle East tend to stay with their own group too. Additionally, a lot of the groups have not fully assimilated to life in the US and lack social skills and basic understanding of customs and courtesies. In my opinion, there is almost an over-population of people from the Middle East but they have money so the university loves to admit them; FIT loves revenue from non-US citizens.

Overall, these are the major pro's and con's of FIT from my years there. (2010-2012) If your looking for a great academic school and you dont require a normal social life than you will love FIT. However, if your more like me and focus on academics but wished to balance that out with more social events (sports, clubs, etc) than you will be wishing for more from FIT. I met some great people even though I didn't match up well with a majority of the population at FIT (generally more academic and less social) but you can always find your niche. The education you will receive is top notch but in my opinion not worth the $30k or more per year! At my graduation speech, the schools president wouldn't stop boasting about the improvements FIT is making and how were a Tier 1 research facilities and how were up there with "Harvard and Ivy League schools". In my opinion, FIT is growing and is still in its infant stage of development but there is a lot of improvement that needs to be done to make FIT the renowned school that the administration makes it out to be. In the end, I would NOT return to FIT but would instead go to a larger school that is more developed in its social atmosphere and provides a better balance of work, school, and play.

I hope this will help provide everyone more insight into the university.

Been going to class here since 2014-2015, Started great, lied to right off the back about not having to pay out of pocket. Professors are mostly lazy nothings that can barely iterate the material. Financial Aid Including Heartland are horrible. Student advisers are hit n miss. All together I say go to a community college and save your money.

I guess its an okay school, I do my classes online the work is nice you learn a lot, but the advisors are horrible, and the financial aid office is hell, they are so rude, and impolite its unbelievable!

The only thing that FIT cares about is their money. After being a student here for a decade and working here for 4 years it has become clear to me that FIT does not care about its student population. Do not go here for any degree. You will have to learn everything from YouTube since your professors do not care to teach properly.
Also, Google FIT Cleary Act and you will find some interesting reasons on why you should not go here.
FIT sucks.

As a senior, i have decided that FIT would suit me most. Looking up the reviews from other students in campus, FIT lights up the excitement in the school environment. Best known for it engineering programs, especially aerospace, that is definitely the right place for me. Don't worry, the campus is not that large, you'll get use to every student once you go there. I especially love the fact that the campus is right near the malls and shops, so it's really easy to go around and spend a similar city life there.

Totally disgusted with FIT!!!

Totally disgusted with FIT!!!
Attending daughters graduation, they give you 4 tickets so you can't have all your family members present, then to add insult to injury. The auditorium is full and you have to watch the graduation from a screen. Give me a break. This is Florida! Why didnt you have it in outdoor stadium!!!!!!

This is a hard place to rate but I am going to say the truth.
I got my BS degree here and is doing my MS degree now.
Professors are ok. Class quality is good.
Financial office and Admission office are not excellent but good.
Online learning is something I have no idea so not in this topic.
But if you want to go for a real education organization. Florida Tech will be a good option.

I got my Master's in CIS and enjoyed all the classes I took. (8 in person and 2 on- line). The teachers were very knowledgeable and students were intelligent and we learned from each other in some interesting Group projects. I think the tuition rate was reasonable. If I had questions, the instructors were mostly helpful. Not sure how to respond to some of these negative reviews- I would recommend the school, but not familiar with every department and teacher, so do your research.

Absolute worst support in the world. I registered over month ago for an online class. Spent over an hour and 1/2 on the phone with 4 different people trying to figure out why I couldn't log on to class. After being set from one person to another with no help it was discovered that an account was never created for me. They created me an account but when I log in there are NO CLASSES listed! I call back and am told they don't handle this part that I need to call another number tomorrow. They have no clue what they are doing and half of the tech support people were rude.

This school has a small campus, friendly and informative professors, great food, many dining and living options, a very clean campus, and a friendly and helpful environment for students. The library has many resources for students to use, and promotes a very productive environment. There are many dining options around campus that possess very friendly atmospheres. All around a great place to pursue and education.5/5

I had a reason to explore the campus of Florida Institute of Technology as about 20 of our freshmen at the Japanese university where I was teaching attended a three-week long language training program at the campus, while they stayed with individual families. My visit was planned long enough in advance, and I received a warm welcome from the university staff and from the faculty and director of the English Language Institute, where our students were studying.
During my multi-day stay in Melbourne, I was able to go along to some of their classes and also attend one of their on-campus field trips, in which they visited the department of Aeronautical Sciences. It's a very modern, sprawling campus. As a visitor, I was given a parking pass to either park in the parking structure at the main entrance (see photo) or to use the student parking zones anywhere on campus. Our students who studied at FIT enjoyed their experience at the English Language Institute very much, and I was able to see their final research presentations at the end of their short-term study since I arrived for the last 3 days of their stay.
