I was not impressed with the services I received from this firm. I contacted Jim Debellis last year as a new client who had recently opened a small business, and was thus out of my element, which I was very clear about in my first, and ONLY, meeting with a new accountant. I brought all my paperwork with me and had my own profit and loss statement prepared from an outside bookkeeper. Well, I had to follow up twice initially to make sure my return was even sent; I submit all the information for my return in the beginning of January and it wasn't until March when I reached back out and found it had never gotten filed due to being "lost under other papers on his desk." Then, for my quarterly tax payment I was never contacted AGAIN, thus incurring late fees. This happened yet again before I decided to look elsewhere and that I was not being treated as a priority at this firm. I told Jim then that I had not been impressed with the handling of my account since having been a client there and did not feel confident that services were being performed properly or on time. My last communication with Jim was in September, after which I told him I would no longer need his services and to please contact me with anything further. December 19th I received an invoice for services performed a YEAR ago for DOUBLE what I paid my new accountant to file for me, and I had more communication in the first 24 hours of meeting this new accountant than I had in 6 months of working with Flaherty and Salmin. Very disappointed in the professionalism and handling of my accounts; I also feel as though any late fees that are issued for my return this year should be wholly deducted from my invoice. One applogy, via email, was issued after the first late filing though nothing further was ever done to rectify all the other mistakes that were made. Icing on the cake? My new accountant has found various issues with the filing that WAS done at this firm, stating there are multiple "clerical errors" that he had to rectify prior to sending my return out this year. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
