I volunteered there years ago. Everyone there was great. I ve had to cremate my pets there. Everyone was great. I have adopted pets there. Everyone was great. This is a tough place to work. It takes a tole. Everyone that works or volunteers there, are fantastic for their efforts. God bless

The staff at The Humane Society is great!
Our Baby is usually very nervous with lot's of anxiety to visit the vet but not today! He got a through wellness check up and his 3 year rabies shot. Easy and timely. I also found a nice harness in the donation bin that was a perfect fit only $2.00. He is a happy dog and so are we, did I mention the cost? We didn't have to take out a loan! Thank you for being there!

Found a french bull dog by hwy 11 and rt 40. He was dehydrated. And dirty. Took her home gave her a bath and she had a good night playing with my pit bull. Went to humane society the next morning
To see if she had a chip. They took me and scanned her. She was chipped. Left her there but informed them that if they could not find the owner to call me. They do a great job. Love this place. I adopted a dog from them he was the best dog i ever had. Had to put him to sleep a yr ago.

Nice shelter with friendly staff and an occasional vet.

Rude employees: I had to return my prescious adopted cats due to my husband having allergies and the staff immediately started treating me like dirt. The blonde one said that the cats were more important than my husband and that he should just deal with it. The gray one had just caught a cold and they were trying to insinuate that I mistreated the cats..And the person incharge tried to coax me to say that my intention was to set them free into the woods i had to repeatedly tell them to stop putting words in my mouth because if that was my intention ehy would I drive all the way from the beach to bring them there. When I could have just stopped by along the many trails along the way to do such a terrible thing. Our Jewels and Yokio were princes in my home!!! It all came down to wanting to charge me $50 per cat. When they gave me an animal that was abused in its prior home very skitish and taught and we took Jewels, Toshi and Yokio my family did nothing but LOVE them whole-heartedly !!

Do yourself a favor and take your animals to a neighboring shelter. These people are RACIST and hardly Humanitarians ! And to the employees please find a new career because you have lost site of what's your mission! I can tell you its not about the $$$

No one should criticize a shelter until they've seen how hard the employees work and the terrible cases they have to deal with. I would be in tears constantly if I had to take in dogs and cats who've been dumped, abused or medically neglected. Not saying there aren't unpleasant people at this shelter, 'cause I have not had any dealings with them, but the shelter deserves our support. It's much better than the shelters in most cities, and let's not forget that many towns have no shelter at all.

Am a volunteer there and all the foster dogs and cats are well taken care of.

*please don't let this rating stop you from adopting an animal in need, but this place does need an issue addressed* I wont go into much detail, because if you are reading my post, you most likley are reading other negative post, and I believe they are mostly on this same topic. This shelter had a hoard of hamsters come in. Another rescure agreed to take in ALL of the hamsters, witha complete care plan, completely free, and the shelter agreed. However after that agreement this shelter went ahead and put down all the female hamsters (almost 100) ,and gave no reason to the public or the rescue who was awaiting their arrival. This outraged many hamster owners (including me) who heard about the case on a facebook hamster care group (many users were considering adopting some of the rescued hamsters or preparing donations for the rescue group) Not only has the shelter neglected to give any sort of appology, reason, or any sort of statement on the issue they deleted and blocked people on their facebook page who were asking "why?" and were upset. They attemted to cover everything up and it makes us wonder what else their managment has or will cover up.While the damage has been done, I think they need to be called out on this, and they should own up to what they did with a statement. An explanation. Not total avoidance and censorship of opposing views. That being said, this is a management issue, and the pets in this shelter should not have to suffer because of this. Please continue to adopt and foster these innocent pets that get dropped off here. While I might be bit weary of monetary donations, donations of goods,food,toys and volunteering your time is important to these pets. Also check out the pipsqueakery hamster rescue and consider either donating or adopting one of the several male or now-motherless baby hamsters they took in. EDIT: NOT ONLY ARE THEY DELETING AND BLOCKING ANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON FACEBOOK, THEY ARE GETTING GOOGLE REVIEWS DELETED AND OTHER SITES DELETED. NO STATEMENT HAS BEEN MADE TO THE PUBLIC.

There are good people here. The shelter looks very clean, and the staff is efficient.

The staff is so friendly & helpful! Many dogs & cats looking for their fur-ever home. They are in need of towels & blankets to help in the care of these animals.

I was there to volunteer my time as a groomer to shave down some matted Persians for the shelter.

These folks really represent Flagler county with exceptional care, fairly priced medical services, adoption opportunities and helpful pet owner resources. Staff is professionally trained, kind hearted and knowledgeable. Adopt at Beach side Flagler Humane Society or donate to a community heroically run animal sanctuary. Towels and goodies are always needed too.

The kennels are kept very clean and I have found Courtney Ryan to be very helpful

Courtney Ryan is a very helpful worker who puts her heart into helping animals find a good home. She is one of the best employees.

My Bella has a tumor on her dew claw, it is expensive but they treated her with care and me with love, or the other way around. But they were great. Hold on look at here dew claws let me see if shell let me take a pic. They are not a full service vet so we have to go elsewhere. See, it doesn't seem to hurt her. I just want it off. Don't know where else to go.

My boyfriend and I just moved in together and wanted to adopted a kitten. I already have a 6 year old. Now we absolutely love the kitten but 5 days after we brought him home my 6 year old cat started to get sick. Turns out after a $300 vet trip she had an upper respiratory infection given to her via the kitten. Last year when I lived at home my parents adopt 3 kittens all from Jacksonville humane society and NONE had given my cat an upper respiratory infection. We will NEVER adopt another cat or animal from this humane society.

The Flagler Humane Society is a very friendly, happy place to get your next pet. The place is very clean and personnel seem to always be happy. The kitties are set up very nicely, either in rooms of cats, single cages or double ones for larger cats. The dogs are in another area in walk around cages or sometimes two to a walk around cage. They have volunteers that take the dogs for walks and sometimes they take time to play with them too.
The whole building inside and the outside area is always kept very clean. We are very proud to have a very clean, no kill humane society in Palm Coast.

A for effort. The building is frequently refreshed with new paint, etc. There are treats at each cage to encourage visitors to interact with the dogs by teaching them to sit before treats. There are also ongoing community events such as the pet adoptathons, set ups at local Petco and PetSmart type stores.
The building itself is as expected, a little run down and too small.

My daughter and I have fostered kittens and adopted 3 from FHS-PALM COAST. We know the caring staff so well, and they do an amazing job saving lives--from bunnies to kittens, cats, puppies and dogs. DON'T BUY...ADOPT!!! Just go on their website for adoptable pets--you'll often find purebreds or near-purebreds in the type of pet you're looking for. Remember reputable animal breeders NEVER put down a purebred animal and they won't be homeless; but humane societies all over the U.S. are forced to euthanize if they run out of room to house the homeless! If you can't adopt right now, consider fostering. It's the best hard work I've ever done!

My kid lost her dogs while taking them out them someone took the dogs to them with 30 minutes I called them and they wanted $300 for my dogs. Since I didnt have the funds right a way they sold 1 of my dogs and the wrong age was given. Got my other dog back and he had kennel cough and shots that he didnt need and they micro chip him. When I got my dog back he had been drugged because he wasn't moving and sleeping a lot. When asked they stated they gave him meds because he was eating grass.

Greatest staff!! They truly care abt all their fur babies and make sure they are going to a good home!!
I only buy all of my supplies from them as well, (Toys, dog beds, food bowls) best prices and helps them so much!!

The animals are very well cared for. The staff can be knowledgeable we have adopted there twice and gotten great dogs both times. #adoptdontshop

Great system to being able to help with visits on a low budget. No one place is perfect nor is one person. Or I would rate this place as a five. Being perfect gives no room for growth.

I enjoyed this location and it just feels slightly cleaner than the HHS in daytona. I wanted to adopt a dog here, but given that it would not behave near any other dog and there are multiple dogs in my apartment complex, I couldn't risk one of them being mauled. I expected it to not be full of pitbulls but it was indeed full of pitbulls, which are not allowed on my lease whatsoever. The only things I took a star off for: 1. The sign is so small and this place is not near much that it's likely anyone would miss the turn if they don't have navigation gps. 2. there is nowhere to "run" the dog and see how you mesh while walking. Someone has to take time out of their busy schedule as staff and sit in a room with you while you visit with the animal and mull it over. That just seems like a waste of precious time to me versus a signout sheet leading to a fenced in area with doodoo bags so the employees can get a break from constantly taking dogs out and in to their cubicles to do their duty.

Love this place. Everyone is courteous and helpful. They have a great love of animals. Adoption process is fast.

We are Foster Aunts for kittens, and we adopted 2 of our 6 last year!

The staff here is just amazing--doing the hardest work for animal lovers..

I was fortunate to be able to assist for a short period in the laundry room of all places, but once I started it became clear how necessary my help was.

They were very helpful and inexpensive enough for my dad's dog's cremation. Our family dog passed away two nights ago and they were very sympathetic.

Very neat and clean. Workers are extremely helpful . I always donate to this service. The people work so hard .

I volunteer there and I think we all take good care of the animals and of each other there I love this place

Recently lost my companion of 10 years to cancer. Went in today to look for a new companion to give my love to and to visit. Have adopted from shelters in other states before. Usually these shelters are very happy and grateful to a have people come in and play or walk the dogs to help with socializing exercising etc. I asked to walk a beautiful boy who looked like my sweet baby I had recently lost and the staff I asked said the kennel attendant would be alerted. A few minutes later, a gentleman came and I asked to walk the dog. He asked me if I was going to adopt the dog. I answered honestly and said I wasn't sure. He then informed me that only shelter volunteers or "serious adopters only" were allowed to walk the dogs and then walked away. I went out to my car and cried a little, partly for the lost opportunity to walk him but also in sadness for Dogs who have missed opportunities to have just a little positive human interaction regardless of ability to adopt.

An elderly friend had to surrender her cat and I took it for her. They were very pleasant and the facility was extremely clean.

Most of the dogs were the big breeds. Lots of cats and kittens. One girl at the desk was very rude but the lady that runs it is extremely nice. I think they need a bigger place though. They could use donations. The person I went there did donate.

They were very friendly staff and had great deals on dog toys and other things but they definitely need more funding and a in house vet. Most if the dogs were coughing and I felt very bad for them. They are doing all they can for the animals but they need more help.

They work really hard and are so kind to all the animals.

The staff weren't motivated to assist or answer questions about pet adoptions. I stood there a while before being acknowledged. I was escorted back to the area where the dogs were being held and my heart sank in sorrow for the animals. The conditions weren't awful, but it was chaotic and grim with all the dogs barking and whining in a small area that smelled less than fresh. The animal enclosures had no outdoor access for fresh air or sunshine. Again, it wasn't horrible. But it was sad and heart wrenching to see these animals in such angst and despair. By comparison, go visit Halifax Humane Society and you will understand my perspective. HHS has adoption down to a science - there are no dogs barking in angst and despair. The differences are beyond incredible.

DNA test kit send off get back isn't a lot found one that does dread it tells drugs that the dog would not be able to take blood line under 20.oo

None of the dogs seem friendly would never bring one home

There is a star loss because this is a kill shelter. But they are still really helpful and they help recommend Drs to do procedures that their clinic can't handle. But I can't come here too often or else I would come home with every animal.

Great selection of animals to meet everyones desire.
The staff are mostly volunteering their services and are great help in answering questions about the animals they have available for adoption.
The shelter is very clean and we'll laid out, for easy acceptability.

Great place to get your animals.. We adopted a dog. They called her Allie but we did change her name to Rudy. She is the sweet dog ! We were very blessed that Ruby picked us !

I cant even begin to tell you how horrible that the administrator here is. He doesnt really care about the animals. It's all about the money. Sad, sad, sad.

Very sad, very old, the staff was amazing...lots of sweet senior pups, that need homes, they cried when I walked by. I wanted to take one home but I have a 2 year old yellow lab that literally is a bull with a crazy strong tail. I also have a 10 year old smaller lab that Maggie wants to play with so, anyway, another senior would not be good. Please someone take in one of these gentle, sweet pups who are still loving and fun to be around!

Volunteered there many years ago when I used to be just a run-down building now it's driving and looking pretty good great place I miss John I never hear from him again he is good person

I took my cat Biscuit there when he died for a private cremation. It was Monday and very crowded but they took me right in immediately and were Very sensitive to my feelings of sadness. They handled everything very smoothly and quickly. I had called ahead of time and They did a great job being all ready for him with the paperwork all filled out and everything and I didn't have to wait even one second. I'll be picking him up on Friday in a very nice wooden box with his name on it which came with it, The people there were wonderful and very much appreciated which really made a difference for me.

One of the few animal shelters that keeps a waiting list. Halifax fails in this regard.

Said they would hold a dog for us for 24 hours and didn t. Disappointed.

Went with a found dog during business hours. Was told they could do nothing for me, and to take the dog to Pine Lakes Animal Hosp to get it scanned. Very disappointed.

Everyone I met was very nice, asked great questions, and were very professional and kind.

Great place i was thankful how the staff was there, i had to drop a family members dog from another county that wouldnt take her i called them they told me to bring the dog in and it would be adopted out i had to pay$ 150.00. But i know she will be in great hands !

Lady over adoptions doesn't return calls. I'm trying to adopt my 2 fosters and can't get a call back. This is likely the reason they are overcrowded and animals are getting territorial. They appear to be doing nothing to help these animals find homes.

Flagler Humane Society staff and many dedicated volunteers go FAR above and beyond for the homeless animals in their care. They spare no expense to get these animals healthy, and work tirelessly to reunite owners with their pets. FHS also assist the homeless population with vaccines, baths, and food for those in most dire need....in addition to Flagler County's only animal food bank. Phenomenal staff who truly put the animals mental, physical, and emotional well being first. I would never volunteer anywhere else, and encourage you to join us in the most rewarding experience! I LOVE volunteering at Flagler Humane!

Excellent staff and concern for the dogs and cats under their care.

Seeing animals as long as you make an appointment. Make sure you are on time, they are very strict about the rules. Very understandable though, they deal with such a high volume of animals every day, the place would melt into chaos if the rules were not followed. Nicest people, they care and want the best for your furry friends.

Great and friendly staff. Price is more reasonable than the other options in the area . In my situation it was 1/3 of the cost from the other pet hospitals

They have a freezer in the back full of dead dogs and some cats. Including puppies.

I love our local animal shelter- they truly have heart! They are sadly not a no kill shelter however- they do everything they can to prevent putting animals down!
They run lots of adoption specials during the year and offer low income families vet care and supplies.
They also house pets for free for those in shelters or that suddenly find themselves homeless.
Thank you Flagler Humane society for such an awesome job!
