Small place.

Small place.
Good for a party with a maximum of 350 to 400 people.
Not a good place for marriage reception as it doesn't have private rooms for the bride and the groom to get ready for the event. I didn't find any green room or dressing room kind of facilities for the groom and the bride.
Food didn't cater the taste of Bangla region. It was more like of North Indian taste. Indians and Pakistanis may like the food but it is not up to the mark for Bangladeshis.
I attended a marriage reception for 400 people and found it to be cramped.

It's easy to praise the decor of most Queens Indian restaurants who lure in guests with artwork and layout of culture, jackson diner being one... yet a true 'foody' will relish over the fact of how authentic the dishes prepared can give a true desi a slice of Dhaba cooking back home. A true nyc sleeper hit folks.

An interesting venue in the border of Astoria and Long Island City with an incredible Indian restaurant next door for its catering venue, that is not expensive but a tremendous value with exceptional service and value. Well worth the trip here and not a far walk from Court Square.

I had my wedding here and at first had some difficulties with the owner. However, in the end everything worked out. The decor was great, the food was plenty and good and it was an experience to remember. I will suggest getting everything sorted out before you sign the contract and give exact number of guests before.

The price was good...for a lunch special ($10+/-). The food was fresh and very well cooked. The curry chicken and goat were delicious. The location is perfect if you're looking to "hide-out" in NYC (YEAAAHHH...this is possible in NYC).

Rude Manager wouldn't give me a glass of water from the bar for my child...said I had to take the water from the table - but there wasn't any and the lady had taken all the glass away...

I was invited to a wedding reception last month. It was an incredible experience please don't mind the negative reviews out there. The Indian food was delicious. The service was very courteous. The waitstaff was very attentive to our needs and overall the flow of the program was seamless. Please go take a look for yourself you won't regret it!!

I was invited to a party here a couple of days ago. The food was good, but pay attention when I tell you that the manager here will scam you. Instead of paying a specific amount, this manager added on random fees! I suggest you find a better restaurant if you're looking to to spend this much money!

Worst experience of my life.

Worst experience of my life.
I just got married and I'll tell you my event was ruined.
Nothing was organized, and venue wasn't ready for my guest.
The power circuit went out 3 times.
My main entrance, cake cutting, and my performance.
There was water all over the dance floor.
My father had to clean up the mess till someone finally showed up to clean.
I gave my chocolate fountain to them and got the machine damaged.
The people who were there are liers.
They called the police on my husband and I because they couldn't come to an agreement of the payment.
Bathroom sinks were clogged in both men's and women's.
My cake topper went missing.
Cake wasn't served to people to the tables.
There wasn't champagne glasses for everyone to toast.
It was a hot mess.
My bouquet with my mother's picture went missing.

Terrible, terrible experience from my opinion.
They are crooked people.
Drinks weren't original, they were replaced or mixed with something else.
Food tasted terrible.

They booked another party before my event started so there was time delay for my event.

Indian people eat there. In New York City the highest rating you can give a restaurant is that people from a culture eat at a restaurant that serves the food from that culture. The only problem is that the main part of the restaurant is not currently "handicap accessible". Stairs up to the front door, stairs down to bathroom. I don't know if this is true of the catering hall section. Order takeout if you have to, but you must have this delicious-ness.

With all honesty and respect, very beautiful, spacious elegant venue BUT you have got to get rid of your event manager or whatever the hispanic guy is. Horrible, effortless customer service to the customers/families who book this venue to host their event. If you guys were to have an event manager/host who deliveries exceptional customer service, you ll guys be booked every weekend!

Best Indian food in that area. The food is fresh and hot. I always get chicken biryani boneless spice which is awesome. This place is a lot more better than other places in Queens Richmond hill. I don t go to Richmond hill anymore. This is the best price is decent but drinks are not high compare to other bars so 5 stars.

Had a wedding ceremony there yesterday. The servers/food handlers were not very helpful and often rude. However the event went well and I m glad for that. Shaheen was very helpful and very accommodating to our requests. He s the man.

Finally a place that can spice it up...do not challenge the chef to spice it up...he may kill you. It was perfect! 10 Min til my food showed up and constant drinks...wish I lived closer.

This place has two parts in one of which is a banquet hall and the other is a bar. Same owner tho.
The banquet is huge but, not something glamorous enough for parties. Food quality is okay but, not worth mentioning. Decoration and organization is pretty crappy. Also, glasses and water jugs looked old and not well cleaned.
Waiters were nice and helpful but, the management wasn't that much of a professional as it seemed.
Overall, it is an okay place. Not really good, not super bad. Personally speaking... for me, it is bad. I didn't like this place.

Friendly service, bare bones atmosphere, fair prices, and excellent food!

The Samosa Cholley was insanely good. Will go back again and again just for that appetizer. The Roasted Vegetable Medley was another stand-out: rich flavors with an almost stew-like texture. The Curry Goat was great: tender meat with a perfect sauce to top the pulao (rice) or sop up with Roti or Nan.

The Tandoori Chicken was a generous portion, cooked to perfection. And the Chicken Tonka Masala was good. Also sampled the Vegetable Chow Men which was distinctive: essentially a cabbage flavored spaghetti dish, very enjoyable.

The atmosphere left something to be desired, it was a bit dank with some flies buzzing about ;curious since it is connected to a beautiful Indian banquet hall. At least the bathrooms were clean.

Will absolutely go back. And you should go, just for the Samosa Cholley.

Location is good, close to Manhattan. Also subway. Not enought restrooms. Food serving area is smaller. Main entrance should be more decorative. Food is very good. Catlaris is very nice and clean. Stage is gorgeous, cooling system is good. Chairs need to be upgraded. Over all is good place for family program.

I thoroughly enjoyed hosting my wedding reception (May 18th). This is a usual spot for our community and I always enjoy being at this place due to its location. The staff at Five Star are helpful and ready to work with you and accommodate your request. Highly recommend this venue if you are planning for a wedding reception or similar event. Contact Arun, he is the man.

Was invited to a wedding here. The food was normal Indian food (nothing special). The venue is big and cloud hold up more then 500 people.
What I didn't like was, when I went to the men's room one of the toilets were totally not usable.
I would suggest time to time send some one to check them out. Not sure if there were any other rest rooms as I couldn't find them.
Had to battle with bartenders to get a "DIET COKE" seriously?
Bus boys should not empty plates in a garbage bin in the room! That looks terrible.
Advise to management: People are paying you allot of money to have weddings here! It is a big day in their lives. Learn how to run a catering hall.
Your calling your self 5 star! At least act 3 star.
Very disappointed.

Stopped serving liquor at 12:30 on a saturday for a wedding. I came all the way from Toronto for the event and the party was scheduled to end at 1am and ended up charging my family $4000 for an extra hour. If its past 12pm i do not understand why you don't let your clients have the venue the whole night considering that no one else rented it the next day versus chasing them out. This is new york city and it surprised me that a party can end so soon. The owner is a scam he put the food away that was paid for sooner than agreed and took his bar staff away while people were standing in line for drinks.

Just had my reception in December.
The food was okay. All my guest complained about the beef not having meat and mostly bones. Their communication is garbage. Too many heads and they promise things and last minute they change. I visited them like 5 times and they kept saying okay okay and they never met my demands on certain things. I would recommend this place if you really looking for a cheap place.

I was a little skeptical when my cousin said that she had wanted to have her wedding here , but I am so glad that her husband had chosen such a great venue. The party consisted of over 400 people, the service was excellent and the food was very authentic. Management was very accommodating to my cousin and she seemed very happy with Five Star. I definitely had a positive experience here and the staff were very friendly.
