Bit of a bummer, actually. We ordered the chips + quac, and the signature burger with F&D sauce, along with a couple of cocktails.

My wife's margarita didn't seem to have any tequila in it, the chips were oily (a shame since downstairs is a Mexican place about to open from the same owners, so the clearly house made cups should be excellent), and the burger arrived without the F&D sauce.

We'll likely try this place again, because they're new, and we figure that they're still working out the kinks with a new restaurant and new staff, but the food was disappointing.

Best thing about this place was the outdoor patio seating.

Delightful outdoor patio and delicious simple menu. We got the nachos and pulled pork sandwich, very good. The potato salad and coleslaw with the sandwich were very tasty too. Good portion sizes and reasonably priced! Tasty cocktails and limited but good local beer selection. Our server was friendly and cheerful. Will be back soon!

I am a huge foodie and Visit Evanston restaurants frequently. Food here is great but once we reached the upstairs area, no one greeted or spoke to my friend and I. After standing around for several minutes no one thought to ask us to sit down or ask what we needed. After choosing to sit at the bar we observed multiple people come in who got greeted very nicely and attentively. Unfortunately I am assuming that because we were the only people of color there at the time that no one decided to speak to us or even ask if we had a reservation (which we did and later denied) very disappointed at the staff who watched us stand there for minutes at a time and didn't offer us a seat.

Huge place. Shares space with taco Diablo. Limited menu. Ordered the "hummus" - really good. Loved the nachos. Margaritas were really good, but pricey. In the summertime I could see this being an amazing place.

Horrible customer service wanted to host a birthday dinner for 15 people and would not take a reservation. Spoke with 4 different people because they kept hanging up on me. Then one manager passed call off to other manager and he was not even interested in trying to help.
Response to owner: Yes, I had to call back after waiting on hold several minutes the second time I called waiting to speak to someone they hung up/disconnected me. You sir have no right to imply that I m not being truthful....

I really love the idea of this place, I really do....

I really love the idea of this place, I really do. It really should be an easy 5 star rating but the employees try so incredibly hard to frustrate you and prevent you from buying things. The employees constantly seem annoyed when you show up with an interest in spending money on food and drinks. This is a paradox because you would assume that employees would like you buying things, because they get bigger tips, make more money, etc.

More humorously, on numerous occasions we have called ahead about the place being open or the kitchen being open, and upon arrival we have discovered numerous times that the place is closed for a private party or that they decided to close the kitchen earlier than they told us over the phone. This is has become comical because we have walked onto the patio watching the cooks starting to throw burgers on the grills and they won't allow us to order a burger (or any food for that matter) because "the kitchen is closed."

I am befuddled constantly with their business plan of frustrating me on every occasion when it comes to me ordering food and alcohol. Like for example, I was told by the manager tonight (30 June 2017) that the kitchen was closed upon arrival at 1035pm even though I called ahead about wanting to order food from the kitchen upon my arrival which they agreed was a win-win situation for both of us. Unfortunately, this was a complete lie because we sat down and saw the cooks starting to grill meat, but were told the kitchen closed 20-30 minutes ago, but regardless of that managerial misstep we were told that we were at least allowed to buy chips and Guacamole. Wouldn't you know it--the server didn't want to sell it to us, and then asked the manager for permission to sell it to us. We told her we didn't want guacamole and she sure showed some gusto and initiative by deciding we weren't worthy of our chips purchase because she never delivered them. I eventually asked her an hour later about the whereabouts of our chips, and she lamented that the chips were all gone--who could believe that in the midst of summer school in evanston that our precious supply of chips would be extinguished by 1110pm on a Friday night. I realize business management is hard and so is running a restaurant, but one would assume that the only rooftop bar/restaurant in Evanston would want to make some money.

Fantastic space. Good to very good food. Service is good but can be a little spotty when really busy. A really good place to bring kids if want to lounge for a couple drinks and seem like you're on a date for a bit.

We held our office holiday party here and it was a beautiful space. They provided wonderful service, a great view, plenty of food for everyone, and so much space. We were there for several hours and had a great time. I would definitely recommend it for parties & gatherings. We got an all-inclusive package (food, drinks, and the space) for 20 people for 3 hours for $550.

The rooftop location adds a fun and unique feature to Evanston's list of dining choices. There are outdoor and indoor games to play. But the food and drink here need work. The limited list of drinks are just so-so. I had a $14 salad that came with two skewers of chicken, which was moist and flavorful. But under the chicken was just a huge mountain of bland lettuce like I could buy in a bag at the Jewel for $2, and very little else. The menu overall is pretty disappointing and overpriced for what you get. Unless the menu options and pricing get better, it is unlikely we d go back. There are just too many other dining and drinking options in Evanston.

I came here once for appetizers and it was delicious. I mainly came to sit and chat with others and enjoy the rooftop view so I didn t get a chance to try any main course meal so I m sure that they are great since all their appetizers were great. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing a the staff was also friendly and helpfully as they clarified some things on the menu.

Great rooftop drinks place - the food tends to be overpriced for what you get, considering that Taco Diablo and Lulu's are right downstairs. be prepared to get there early if you want to sit outside.

I had all three of their desserts and they were all great! The chocolate mocha pot de creme had great contrast in flavor and texture, the flan was smooth and sweet, and the cheesecake was delightfully plated and perfectly sweet and soft!

I dined here yesterday for 1st time. The atmosphere and ambience is nice but was VERY displeased with the food. I ordered side of fries for sampling and they came to me room temperature. I took bite of 1/2 of 1 fry and asked server if they can remake my order as my food wasn't hot. She took my plate back to the kitchen and returned later with what I expected to be a new fresh order of fries. That same 1/2 eaten fry was on the plate where I left it! They simply put my cold tempt fries in a microwave and heated it until hot and then brought it back out to me. That's horrible! For $8 side order of fries, which is a high price anyway, I expect fresh cooked fries served to customer. Not microwaved fries. No telling how long those fries were sitting out after being cooked before they were initially ordered by me. Very cheap on their part! Serving old cooked food that's been re-microwaved countless times and served to customers is unacceptable! Buyers beware!

This was my first time visiting the rooftop patio of five & dime. I only had a drink and some chips with salsa, so I'm mainly commenting on the atmosphere here. The patio is enormous and beautifully laid out. There are indoor areas and game areas, table areas and lounging seated areas, all seamlessly put together. The servers were truly impressive. Fast, polite and professional, despite there being 30+ people in our party, they could remember what I ordered, where I was, and later ask me if I wanted another [insert name of drink I just had]. Also, those chips were crispy and perfectly salty, and the two types of salsa were brilliantly flavorful.

The rooftop is an awesome place to grab a few drinks with friends. The servers are all very helpful. There can be a bit of a wait on Friday/Saturday nights, but that's usually a good sign.

My family has grown up with Dan & Lulu's from the beginning on Davis street in a converted Irving's for red hot lovers storefront. Then up the street to where Boltwood is now to the present location. We came full circle this Saturday when my daughter celebrated her wedding at FIve & Dime. The venue, the staff and the food were amazing. Our guests kept commenting how cool the space was, how tasty the food was (lulu's ginger salad, potstickers, and an amazing taco bar) We were able to accomodate vegans, vegetarians and meat lovers alike. The drinks were also a big hit with the bartenders mixing up a great special cocktail for the big event. My daughter said " this is better than I ever could have imagined" Thank you!!!! We also did this in less than 3 weeks. (not recommended)

The best rooftop dining in Evanston, with an open flame grill that produces delicious burgers, ribs and fish. Fries and other potatoes are good. Their shrimp cocktail is a surprisingly large serving. The typical drinks are good-sized and strong and they throw in some unique offerings as well. Their wine list is good enough.
Staff has always been friendly, accommodating and professional.

Really, we've always, every time (and that's many, many times), been happy here in warm weather. Watching the sun slide down the sky with a strong drink, good food and friends is beneficial, for sure.

Nice strong drinks. Beautiful and cozy rooftop patio. Have been here for work outings as well as dinner with friends and it's always a great atmosphere. It is a little strange how the hosts stand at the top of the stairs and greet people. They're trying to be inviting, but it is a little abrupt and awkward to have someone greeting you as you're still making your way up the stairs.

Loved this rooftop!! Can t wait to go back! They have a grill outside which smells delicious! I like adding back to my meal this important sensory aspect which makes the food taste that much better. The view is lovely, really! And on top of this all, they have games!!! That s just amazing!! Not to forget also that the service was really good and friendly wish I knew about them sooner.

Many times I have come here, and they have closed off the game room for private parties. It s a nice place, but I wish they wouldn t close off the entire game room to, everyone else, if there is a private party.

Decided to take a chance and go to lunch during the pandemic. My friend and I picked an outdoor venue and agreed that we would only stay if reasonable safety measures appeared to be in place. We stayed after seeing that tables were appropriately spaced, staff all masked, and hygiene procedures were being followed. Kudos to Five and Dime for passing all the above with flying colors. I give them 5 stars for that. They are a bit pricey and the menu items we tried were good but not memorable. They are worth a visit if you need to make a trip outside to retain your sanity.

There was a gentle breeze on an 84 degree night while eating with my family. How bad could it be? I had salmon nicely toasted on both sides and my wife had a med. steak which I picked at. My niece had a burger.
