I just wanted to tell you guys about the great experience I had dining at your location, Kate was my waitress and she was fantastic , great customer service and really friendly , the atmosphere and the food were great and I definitely will be back!
Kate was an excellent bartender, very talkative while managing to serve all of her customers and excellent at remembering what was talked about before servicing her various customers. Felt right at home
Charlene ensured our dining experience was nothing but perfect. Timely, friendly, and very bubbly service. Definitely going back just because of her service!
Wanted to give a shout here too to the lovely waitress (and staff) that made a late dinner tonight after work super enjoyable (and delicious).
Super great on the spot recommendations and we enjoyed every single thing brought out. Loved the energy and the consistency between the photos/description as well despite the time of day.
My girlfriend and I went in on a busy Friday night...huge mistake. We were seated by a server...and that was the last time we were ever noticed. Many servers and even the female manager passed us by while the menus were on the table. After 15 minutes, I flagged down the manager who seemed completely oblivious that we hadn't been attended to. Isn't the job of a manager to peruse the floor and not hide in the kitchen? When we finally ordered our drinks, she had the bartenders make them and not herself...leaving our now late order to the queue. Drinks were mostly ice..and that's what I paid $6 for. Simple drinks weren't made well. Three cheese dip for $14 was cheaply made. No apology was given or anything comped on the bill. An older couple next to us waiting to pay but was also left unattended. Servers continually picked up glasses with their fingers in the glass...which is the first rule not to do when serving. Stay clear of this place. Take the low ratings from this place and go somewhere where you'll be appreciated let alone noticed. Will never return.
Absolute buffoons running this place. Showed up, sat down, ate dinner and when we finish eating our very mediocre food, I pull out my debit card and they go oh sorry we can t take debit right now well I only had my debit card. Kinda seems like something to let the customer know of before hand. Then they make me go to the bank get cash and come back to pay no discount or anything. Overall absolutely terrible customer service. DO NOT COME HERE.
Great service, good food, excellent price and specials
Went in for lunch on Thursday and we were served by Charlene. It was a business lunch but Charlene made it feel like dinner at home. The service was phenomenal and her recommendation for the stir fry was not what I'd normally eat at a pub but WOW! Not only did I have a fantastic meal and dining experience but I also closed the deal!!! Thanks Charlene. I will definitely be back!
I visit there once a week all the staff is friendly. The bar is awesome and love the fries they taste like homemade. Last time l was there l delt with Savannah and Kate and they are bomb!!! If you go there ask for them they make you day and visit number 1.

What a disaster. I don t mean to be rude in these posts so I hope that the owners of the facility can learn and become better through experience, but this was my experience.
I had a group of 8 people with me and to start off, the server didn t even show up until half an hour after we sat down. (Don t get me wrong, our server s personality was very likeable and attitude was phenomenal but the speed was just not there) it took us a total of 1 hour and 17 minutes to get our food after we sat down to eat and that s just unacceptable to me.
Now the food was interesting. Visually apealing, but the flavour was just not there. Overly salted and imbalanced flavours left a horrible taste in our mouths. Two people sent food back to be redone with another 3 wanting to return theirs for poor quality but too hungry to wait another hour and a half to eat again. The only meal that was enjoyed among my group was the club wrap. But the poutine, fish tacos, and burgers were not good at all. If the restaurant was 7$ cheaper then maybe it would be worth it but the price point they are at for food quality doesn t line up.
Bottom line is ether improve food quality and speed or reduce prices because Hamilton has way too many places to compete with that are much better quality and price.
Wish I went to east side Mario s literally connnectwd to the building.
Staff is extremely friendly at this location however the food is terrible and the portion size compared to the price is awful. Would not recommend this place. Lots of other places to eat in the Dundas area, the Collins or Thirsty Cactus have excellent food and the drinks are all the same with staff who are also very friendly

One waiter in a full restaurant on a Saturday night. The poor guy is run off his feet and it took 60+ minutes to get our food ordered. And before Fionn MacCools tries to blame the " inattentive staff" consider that if it's a Saturday, maybe have more than one waiter. Not his fault. He's trying his best.

Overpriced, dark fries caused by overspent oil. Was my first meal of day result severe bloating and gas which I rarely get.

Food was excellent only to be upstaged by our amazing server Charlene who went above and beyond for my service dog and my sister and I. She recommended a drink for me and I loved it. Coming back to see Charlene soon!

Walked in and stood for 5 minutes while bartender had her back to us. Walked up to bar and said can we sit anywhere. She said sure. We were the only ones there. My chicken wrap was all lettuce with a few scant pieces of chicken thrown in. Burger was dry. Won't be back.

We went here to celebrate our anniversary on Friday night and it was a horrible experience. The food was awful - we each ordered a burger and fries assuming you couldn't go wrong with that at a pub. But the burger was rubbery and flavourless - aside from the flavour of the barbecue sauce it was doused in. Then we had the cinnamon doughnuts for dessert and they were uncooked in the middle. Also, the table beside us was completely wasted, making rude comments to us and others, and "cheers-ing" so hard that they were smashing beer glasses. And nobody thought to cut them off, even though everyone in the restaurant was clearly irritated. It was just all quite frustrating because we were just looking forward to an evening away from the kids, nothing fancy, but honestly our kids would have been better restaurant company than those people. We normally don't complain or write reviews, but we were just so disappointed. Won't be going here again:(

Here s why... hubby wanted to treat me to dinner out on a patio after a long day at work. Buskerfest ruled out downtown patios so we went to Fionns.
Over 10 minutes after we grabbed a table -no menu.
I went to the bar to ask for menus. (Getting a wee bit hangry now)
We ordered shortly after. Meal arrived. No cutlery. We grabbed some from another table. Note: less than 20 people were dining at the time. 3/4 of restaurant had empty tables.
Crab and shrimp roll looked nothing like menu pic that had full size shrimp. (I m quite certain the bits of shrimp I found were from a can! )
Hubby didn t want blue cheese on Cobb salad. No feta?. Ok goat cheese. He had a heck of a time finding any.
Server asked in passing how everything was. I said -meh, ok. No follow up.
I never did receive my water.
Management better start staffing better or star rating is going to continue to slide.
Charlene was a rockstar when we came to your establishment. Our first time and we absolutely will return (hoping to be served by her again!). 10+ stars thanks again Charlene!
This establishment is phenomenal!! My waitress Kate was funny, cordial and all about the positive experience! The food is to die for and must be eaten by all!
My burger was fairly dry, and the fries were bland. The waitress was really good, and I appreciate that they have a selection of craft beers.
The worst place can anyone go to if u want to just sit there and want to have no-one taking care of you and not even serving you water for about 30 minutes then you can go there.. worst customer service i have ever experienced.
And yes they will not even stop you if you are leaving and say you sorry that we were busy, do not leave but they will smile at you pretending that they do not care if you come there next time or not. They do not even deserve 1 star.
Small menu but has what you want for an Irish pub. They offer a patio for dining or drinks during the nice weather. Friday and Saturday they offer live music that starts early and finishes earlier. They have local artists rotating through.
Covid update - we went to have lunch and it was good. The service was good and attentive and the food was as tasty as ever. The patio isn t in the stark sunlight. It s a nice patio.
Enjoy the experience every time we are there! We cannot get enough of the Yorkies; so delicious. Kate, was great as well!!

Our servers name was Kate, she greeted us at the door with a welcome smile. She brought us menus and took our drink order immediately. The food was delicious and hot. She checked in with us to make sure everything was okay. I highly recommend this restaurant for the friendly service and the excellent food.

Very cozy bar, great music playlist, decent prices and specials every day. Will be back for sure. Plus they have wine on tap and the Beau s beer is fantastic. Not sure where the negative reviews come from. I ve had nothing but great service here and good service deserves to be recognized.
The food is great. The atmosphere is wonderful. But it s the staff that make this Dundas spot worth coming back to. And, while it is Covid time, they do a great job of keeping things Covid friendly. Special thanks to five star server Jasmyne - she makes you feel right at home. Wonderful young lady.

Service was very good. $4 Mill Street beers are a good deal. Blarney chips are pretty good. Steak is overpriced and bland. They served a ceasar salad on a very hot plate. Not a good idea.
Kate is the most attentive server with the best attitude! I m never worried about getting quick, accurate service when I come in and she s there. Gotta tip her 20%! The food is hot and the drinks are strong!
This is the 3rd time I've eaten at Fionn's in University Plaza and the first time I had a salad and it was just ok, The last 2 times I've order the fish tacos and honestly they are the worst Tacos I've ever had. I tried them again, giving it a second chance thinking that someone that wasn't trained properly when they made my last order. But again tonight, the Tacos were awful. The fish was 90% batter and 10% fish, and the fixings inside the Taco were tasteless and mussy and not what a true Taco taste like. I've only tried one other item on their menu, a salad, and that was not great either. They need to work on the quality and flavors of their food. I probably won't go back.
Thought we'd try it just for something new. Small-ish place but nice enough inside. It was fairly busy when we were there, but there was only the one bartender and single server working the dining room and patio. I do not blame them at all for this review -- they were working hard but clearly overwhelmed. We waited a long time for our food, and when it came, only 2 mains arrived. Our other 2 guests didn't get theirs until we were halfway through eating ours. We would have waited but the food was not very hot when it came. My bacon burger was falling apart on the plate as it was put in front of me so I had to reassemble it myself, and it was a little boring. Steak frittes was less than mediocre. Our guests liked their food well enough but both said the dishes were overly salty. Won't be back -- for the $120 tab there are far better places to eat in Dundas.
The food at the Dundas location was definitely sub-par (East Side's chain quality). I do love the Guelph and Kitchener locations but if the Dundas one wants to charge those prices they need to offer fresh, home made, quality ingredients in their dishes.

We just had dinner here and will likely return despite having a problem with the chicken wings. Our server was fantastic! It was fairly busy but she was quite attentive and had a great disposition. She absolutely cared about customer satisfaction and was willing to make suggestions about food and drink choices. Our wings didn't appear to be cooked to our liking but the manager came out and apologized as well as remedying the issue. When an issue is addressed appropriately it can turn into a plus, which is what happened here. The employees at this pub definitely go the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction. Thank you. Everyone enjoyed their food and the CAA discount is an added bonus.

My family and I went for my birthday. Service was good, but the menu was very limited. One page front and back. My mother and I did Fisn and chips. The fish fillets were small. The batter was dark, and the taste of dirty oil lingered on the fried food. My father and brothers did the Burger. They said it was fair. But we could ve gotten better entree s from a chip wagon. We most likely won t return, as it made most of us sick.
Good atmosphere. Had a yorkshire pudding beef pie. The yorkshire pudding was a little tougher than it should be and halfway through the pie I was bored of the monotony of the flavour, although it was nice and savoury to start with.

The Shepard's pie wasnt actually a pie, it was the stuffing in a bowl with mash on top of it - tasted great but wasnt what I was expecting. Service was great and fast.
Actually guilty as charged! My husband and I took our kids one afternoon and enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much. We went back the next day, after attending a funeral. My husband and I once again were impressed by the food and our waitress! Thanks for the memories
Had a wonderful experience at Fionn MacCool s in Dundas. Our server Kate was wonderful, she came over to talk to us after we had settled into our seats. She was very prompt taking our order, then making our drinks. She checked in after we had gotten our food. The food was great, reasonably priced. Would recommend.

My first visit to this restaurant was very disappointing. Firstly, we were served our food after a group of about 8 people who were seated AFTER us (there were only 3 of us). When we finally received our food, the spinach dip I had ordered looked unappetizing and yellow, but I thought I would still give it a try. However, when I tried to dip one of the few tiny pieces of bread it came with, the dip was about 5mm deep, so I was scraping the bottom of the dish. I have never seen anything like it. We asked the server if it was normal to have so little dip, and she assured us it was normal. My cousin's burger was also burnt. Very low quality of food presented to us overall. Will NOT be returning.
Beer and atmosphere were good, but one FOH waiterthat was destructed and was flirting with 2 costumers on the bar, and bad food ware a tern off.
We took coliflour that was probably cooked to little or in a lower then it should and were greasy and far from crispy, and 2 antrees from there seafood special menu- pasta that was with a pool of oil in the bottom and no flavor, and lobster and shrimp roll. For the roll we weren't asked for the side and got fries as a default. Beer were supposed to be $4 but were charged $4.99. The pasta hardly was touched and over 90% were on the plate when we were done but nobody came to chech if we are okay with the food or checked on us once.
Place is okay for beer and chips on live music nights but nothing else. Definitely not for food!
Charlene is a top notch server! After 2 visits she knows us by name and gives exceptional service. Always a pleasure coming here for a snack and quick drink after work and Charlene is the cherry on top!
Visited a few days ago, staff was rude and distracted by drama (fighting over tables). Ordered a beer which took 10mins to get served, the bartender then disappeared to fight with the other servers. I never did get my order taken. I left money on the bar (without a bill) for my beer and left.
Great beer.. and patio was not a noisy as expected! (Road noise)

Solid pub style menu and variety of drinks. Their bartender Heather is always a delight and never fails with her recommendations and efficient service. Excellent establishment to relax after work at.
Food is awesome, I was served by Kate who is awesome. Would recommend to friends and family to dine at Fionns in the future keep up the awesome work.
Our meal was dreadful! Had the shrimp burger - no idea what I was eating - like a piece of rubber with no flavour. 2 tiny strings of what was supposed to be crispy onion, no sign of the avocado and something hot and peppery smeared on the bun, plus wilted out of date lettuce and soggy tomato slice. Stir fried veg consisted of a couple of pieces of brocolli, peppers and courgettes - luke warm and tasteless. My husband had the steak and mushroom in Yorkshire pudding. A 4 inch pudding (overcooked) sitting in the middle of a huge white plate - no garnish - very unappetizing looking. No flavour in the filling and the potatoes on top were like the instant ones out of a package. The place was almost empty - 6 guests and now I know why. The waitress did her job and also apologized for the food and said we should have told her earlier so she could replace it. A $50 gift coupon wasted - will most certainly not be back. My own fault - I had heard poor reviews about it before I went.

Absolutely awful. My friend and I ate there a couple of days ago and both ordered the Fionn's Power Bowl. The rice was SO SALTY that you couldn't eat more than a few bites of it. We brought this to the attention of our server, our meals were comped and we opted not to get anything else to replace them since we just wanted to eat somewhere else at that point. About 30 minutes later, we were both violently ill from what we can only assume was the insane amount of salt in the few bites of the rice we ate. Not a pleasant experience, 0/2 recommend.
