Finnegan's is a classic - great place to stop for a drink - the Guinness is good - and watch the world go by or chat to a neighbour on the next table. People are very friendly here, and there's a sense that you can really take your time and just soak in the gentle seaside village atmosphere.

We were 6 days in Dalkey and looked for a pub on the first night. Finnegan's was a nice atmosphere and we felt very well. In the days after we were every day once or twice (at noon and in the evening). The food was very good and the staff know each other with gluten and so on. You could talk well with the bartenders and everyone was very friendly. The drinking there was also very good. Best pub I have ever been to.

My family, the Reardons, when they visit relatives in Dublin, have told me the food there is some of the finest cuisine they have ever eaten and the atmosphere was electric as heck. I hear the entertainment is world class too. DUBLIN RULES. My grandfather Harry Daily, was a drummer in a swing band that went all about Ireland, until he and my grandmother Rachel, emigrated to US. Mother born a year later. She was a big jazz singer who fronted the Johnny Long orchestra in 1952? Helen Daly. Performed in Ireland alot. I have to confess, in late March 1987, when I first heard Red Hill Mining Town etc, by U2 etc, I became a songwriter etc. My critics would accuse me of being a Bono wannabee, thats a compliment as far as I am concerned. The Edge's guitar playing makes me think of blinking Christmas lights and church bells imagery. The Joshua Tree, and WHO's Next are the biggest influence on my sound.

Staff really friendly and helpful. They don't serve food in the evenings and they were very obliging steering me in the right direction elsewhere in Dalkey. Nice glass of white in the meantime and very reasonably priced at 6 quid.

Our group showed up on a busier than usual weekday lunch hour, 4 adults with 3 kids in tow. A lot of places would have just turned us away. The manager here seated all of us at the bar at the quiet end, no doubt displacing a couple of regulars who showed up later. The managers went out of his way to make the kids feel important and special, and had the kitchen make them up some special meals not on the menu, that kids would love. All our meals were very tasty and we had a great time. That's the kind of place this is. That said, in future we will pick our time better and arrive when it's less busy.

Only stopped off here for a quick drink while waiting for a Dart back to town. A pub full of character. Staff are friendly and professional. Service is quick. They appear to have,a great selection of win and a good selection of beer. Locals are friendly. Three minute to Dart station. Facilities are clean and there is,free,Wifi. Dont know, about food,as we,arrived late and, service, would have, stopped. Definitely recommended if visiting Dalkey
