Great little pub theatre!

Great little pub theatre!
It's attached to a small pub with very friendly staff. Unfortunately the theatre itself isn't very accessible, but that seems quite common with pub theatres in London.

In this climate of constant pub closures it's really encouraging to see a previously closed pub reopen. The new owners (who I believe also own The Gunmakers in Clerkenwell) are clearly trying to make this a destination pub for beer enthusiasts, and there's a strong focus on micro breweries (and, to my delight, real ciders) in their line-up. They've managed all of that, and it still feels pubby. I was there for the opening night, there was clearly a sense of excitement around this place. One to watch.

Loved it. Went to see the play / musical "bed and sofa". Superb acting and production throughout. Kaisa Hammarlund especially has the most delicious voice, and reliably turns her characters into a feast for eye and mind alike. The theatre is tiny, yet exquisite. It's a treat to be so close to the action.

Theatre above a pub, productions use the space very flexibly so seating is different nearly every time you visit. Seen some great thought provoking and fun plays. Stairs up to the performance space and rather grungy toilets down from the bar (ground floor disabled loo rarely use able).

Went on the 4th may to see Martine. It was amazing.
I was surprised at how small the theatre was. It was so closed in which made the performance more intimate. Hannah Murray was amazing as Martine. I'm a huge fan of hers and would love to see it again.

The perfect theatre in London.

The perfect theatre in London.
With just 50 seats and amazing plays, incredibly good actors and a lovely little pub with good craft beer selection, this quickly became my favourite spot for a cold winter day. :)

Tiny little theatre with bench seats. The production of after dark was very good and very enjoyable. Lots of steps so not very good for anyone that has a problem with walking or stairs. I did not have food in the pub beneath the theatre but my party seemed to enjoy the sharing platter that they ordered

A small but extremely friendly bar with a good selection of drinks. Was easy to park outside on a Saturday evening. Downstairs there sadly scrappy toilets. Upstairs is a very decent very small theatre. Not many seats but whichever you choose your are within touching dist of the actors.

This intimate, award-winning theatre boasts an interesting array of productions, bringing classics back on the boards. I recently went to see 'Cornelius' by J.B. Priestly and it was a fab production with a brilliantly talented cast, impressive and detailed set and an overall great theatre experience. Think the bar underneath might be closed, or at least changing hands but the Finborough is a small place to go where your large expectations will be met. #Irishtini

What a wonderful Theatre. A Lesson from Aloes is a powerful play about our life. I'm so glad it was brought back, especially for my children to see what their Grandfather endured, to make a better life for his family . Such a unique venue with the pub is brilliant, fantastic atmosphere. Perfect.

The Finborough Arms is an exceptional pub. It has an interesting selection of both cask ales and diverse beers from further afield. The staff are happy to offer recommendations if you might be daunted by the range, and of course' you don't have to drink beer!

If you're hungry you can have wood fired pizza from the shop next door, which I haven't tried, but do look good.

Also it's right below a theatre which seems to have interesting productions on, which I'll certainly check out at some point.

The Finborough seems to constantly punch above its weight! Led by the indefatigable Neil McPherson and with transfers to Broadway and in to the West End, this tiny venue has established itself as "one of the best in the entire world" (Time Out).

I particularly like the dragon that lives in the air conditioning unit above the theatre. To hear his views on things check out @FinboIceDragon!

There has not been a performance in the Finborough that has disappointed me. Every single performance I have seen, it's been great. Amazing even! I think my favourite part of the Finborough, which is one that I have never felt before, is falling in love with the text itself and not just the way the play is portrayed. I always leave the auditorium thinking: that was a marvellous play because the text itself was the highlight of the night . Most of the time the acting accompanies the brilliance of the playscript, and the set is always cozy and inviting as if you were not a spectator but someone who's part of the story.

Forget the West End! This tiny theatre above a pub will give you productions every bit as good as, or better than, theatres costing many times more. Four stars only because the stairs are steep and the seating cramped. They do matinees as well.

Small local theatre with a broad repertoire. The set up changes with each play, depending on the stage needs. Not many seats which for the last play I saw were benches. These become uncomfortable after a while.
Theatre is above the Finborough Arms, a nice pub serving amazing beers (other things available too but beer is their thing). Drinks can be taken into the thatre.

Absolutely lovely laid back place. Last visited in 1993 and it was still just as nice in 2017. Outstanding acting when I was there. Intimate with only a few lines of seats. Can take drinks into the upstairs theatre. After the performance the actors came and had a drink with us. The pub is a fine building too.

I am a regular and attend most performances as this is a real theatre that both produces new and challenging plays and revives older works that have fallen by the wayside. It is always an intimate experience and the productions are generally very professional and of course, it is great value for such quality theatre. My only issue is with the booking agency that the theatre uses, Ticketmaster, which is cumbersome and rigid. It is a nightmare to book several plays as you can't book more than one at a time and if you need to change nights, normally not a problem with small theatres, it can be tricky.

Quite simply the best fringe theatre in London with exceptional productions every six weeks or so. The small stage is used repeatedly in extraordinarily versatile and creative ways. Under the energetic award winning Artistic Directorship of Neil McPherson, the Finborough enjoys a cornucopia of pleasures - an ever changing programme of eclectic productions with the emphasis on rarely staged old and often forgotten plays to lots of new writing - often challenging but always entertaining. A great venue above a pub.
