Fig Bistro had been our go to place for special occasions for over 10 years. The food has always been innovative and excellent. The service superb. It will continue to be our "special" place.

FABULOUS! Though my duck order with sauteed seasonal ramps was delicious wish I had ordered what my chum did - her scallops looked amazing. So good she refused to sample me a taste...oh, well, meant we had room for desserts (which we never do but hey - it was Fig and a day to totally splurge). Our server was a pro yet warm, friendly. Best fare I've had in Asheville in ages

Our favorite in Asheville... and trust me, we've tried dozens upon dozens of restaurants from Table to Zambra to The Admiral and more. But we enjoy fine French cuisine where superior ingredients, delicate preparation and spectacular presentation are mandatory - and Fig delivers on every level. Having been there so many times, I've even ventured to try things on the menu I would not normally try and have been exceedingly and pleasantly surprised. Never a disappointment. Try the Pork Belly appetizer : )

UPDATE 2018-03-03: We still go to fig often, but I'm going to dock it one star for three carefully-considered reasons:

1) The menu really doesn't change much. Having gone there for almost 10 years, the selection names change slightly and the variations change slightly too, but the underlying dish remains largely the same. It's not a large menu (which is OK especially if the chef wants to maintain quality), but with so little change, you do feel like you're eating the same food all the time (and no, I don't get the same thing every time I go.) This is probably only a concern for local regulars, tourists will still love it quite well, I'm certain of that.

2) The level of inspiration has gone down a tiny bit (emphasis on 'tiny'), and the consistency has also gone down just a tiny bit too. Not that the overall experience has degraded, but it is apparent that Jerami Jones is no longer Executive Chef.

3) Desserts. If you think the main menu doesn't change much, the desserts never change. The semolina olive cake seems dry to me (perhaps that is the way it is supposed to be) and the new Panna Cota seems more like a Pots de Creme. We preferred the prior version. The new white chocolate Pots de Creme and the Bread Pudding are still my favorites, but we would love to try something new. And trust me, I completely understand that most great Chefs are not great Pasty Chefs... they are usually two separate roles in a larger restaurant. I understand that Fig is small and probably does not have this luxury. But it is worth mentioning, again probably only impacting local regulars.

FYI, the Pork Belly appetizer is not on the menu and hasn't been for some time. I figured I should clarify that from my review some time ago. Of course, that does not contribute to my rating, there are many other great appetizer options. I now substitute with the truffle parmesan fries. Yum!

Don't get me wrong, we still love this place... just adding clarity to my review. We still go to fig often. We wouldn't if we didn't love the place.

Thoughtful menu, good vodka & tonic, good service, better than average location. Just keep the doors closed at the nail salon next door so that scent doesn't float over to the outdoor dining area. The leaves that fell into my purse as we dined were a sweet reminder, later on, of a pretty nice lunch we had at The Fig with my honey's son and new girlfriend.

WOW! We popped into this small cafe for lunch, on our way through Asheville on our honeymoon and it was a great find! Upon being sat, we asked if they had gluten-free items on the menu, and the staff and the kitchen bent over backwards to adapt dishes. When they discovered that it was our honeymoon, they offered us complimentary champagne to toast. Meg had a terrific egg salad and smoked salmon plate with truffle oil and parmesan fries. I had a pork tenderloin over peas and shallots, which ended up being slightly overdone. When the staff heard that they instantly pulled it off the bill, then gave me a salad and the best burger I've ever had in a restaurant. We finished up with a terrific bread pudding and a strangely compelling kaffir lime and chile panna cotta that was just fantastic. Next time I'm anywhere near Asheville, I'll go out of my way to visit again. Thank you, Fig Bistro!

I have been here at least a dozen times and have always loved my meal! The pomme frites are delicious and there are fun elegant twists on each dish. Something like a burger is classed up with some pickled cucumber and onion and a delicious aoili. Their quiche, which changes daily depending on the fresh ingredients available, is always tasty. Their wine selection is quite good. Their pots de creme dessert, which also changes regularly, is my favorite, though I have tried many desserts and enjoyed them as well. Fun atmosphere and lovely staff who offer great recommendations!

Outstanding! 5 stars is not enough. I will have to start by congratulating an exemplary staff... all of them. We were inspired by the genuine interaction with the employees here. I would visit again just for the conversation. The kitchen even returned smiles and even under the pressure of a full house and one very large party, they performed like a very well tuned machine.

The atmosphere here is quite intimate. It is a small space with limited seating. I would recommend making reservations in order to ensure that you get the opportunity to enjoy this gem in the Biltmore Village.

They have a great wine and cocktail selection as well as locally crafted beers.

The food was decadent. Every aspect of each of the dishes we ordered was perfection. I ordered an uncommon delicacy, sweet breads, with my fingers crossed: 1) Because it is an ingredient many are apprehensive about. 2) Because it is extremely rare for it to be prepared properly. 3) Because my wife was trying it for the first time. Many thanks to the local, distinguished gentleman seated beside us who reassured me that the sweet breads were as good as those he has had in France. Note: the sweet breads were a special appetizer so please don't expect them to be on the menu. I just thought it prudent to say that if they can pull off sweet breads this well; it speaks to the skills of the kitchen. Out entrees were equally as exceptional. The scallops were hard seared on one side and this delivered an exquisite crust and a perfectly cooked body... best scallops ever. The pork tenderloin was recommended by a local shop owner and it was melt in your mouth delicious.

This short essay doesn't do justice to the quality of food and service we had at Fig. You will just have to experience it for yourself.

I hosted my daughter's graduation dinner at Fig. I was so nervous about finding just the right place that would be special and classy enough, yet affordable. Fig prepared a beautifully large table for our family and friends before we arrived. Her graduation dinner was at night, the dining room was dimly lit with hanging lights, candles on the table and small floral center pieces. It looked like an elegant garden party! The wait staff was 5 star qualified, very professional and gracious. The food was delicious! They even prepared a sparkling juice and champagne toast. I didn't even think of that! I can not thank them enough for making it a perfect celebration experience! -Melisa A.

Food was just okay for the price. The clams appetizer was drenched in wine and inedible. The steak was charred and not well, and the brocholini was burnt. Best part was the macaroni, it made the whole meal.

I recommend giving this sleepy restaurant a try. I loved the small and quaint interior. The server gave us great recommendations. I would tell you what they were, but I think the menu changes regularly. As good as the food we had was, I can imagine everything is delicious! Pricey but worth it.

I ate brunch at the Fig Bistro on February 9th. This was my first time at this restaurant and I was very impressed. I had the risotto and it was fantastic. If I lived in Asheville, I would eat here every weekend. This is a great place to eat.

My girlfriend and I ate at Fig for the first time earlier this afternoon. We left thoroughly impressed. Very clean & professional, yet homely atmosphere. Our waiter, Jamie, was an astoundingly personable journeyman, who worked magic tableside. To match his service step-for-step was the food. Simply fantastic. For starters, the classic Pommes Frittes, were done to perfection. Next up I had the Reuben and my girlfriend had the Macaroni Gratin. Both were superb. Not overseasoned, both entrees were clean, light, yet filling. To top it off we ended our meal with the Panna Cotta served alongside Thai Chili Sorbet and Balsamic Reduction. Somehow Fig not only managed to pull this combination off, they managed to nail it. The dessert had us both head over heels. A fantastic meal for a reasonable price. We live in the area and we will be back!

Small, intimate setting and adventurous menu makes this a foody's delight! Small menu but something for everyone. Starters are surprisingly large. Cocktail menu is intriguing; the hibiscus some-or-other was. delicate & delectable. Waiter guided me to a wonderful German pilsner that was perfect. Chilled cucumber and coconut soup was only "pretty good' but was beautiful. The radish, salt, and butter side (yes that's a thing) was shockingly tasty.

I reviewed Fig Bistro four years ago, and thought it was truly outstanding. My wife and I had dinner there this week while passing through Asheville. My opinion remains the same -- a wonderful small restaurant that puts virtually all others in Asheville to shame.

This time, we both had the bolognese, which we agreed was the best we've ever had -- and my wife is a first-class Italian cook. Even better than her recipe.

Service was terrific. Hard to improve -- particularly for the price. A must try if you are in Asheville.

We loved this place. The service was amazing and the food delicious! They have a small menu, but there is a good variety of dishes. They were very accommodating with my 9 year old super picky eater. They have an extensive wine list. Our first time in Asheville and this was a find!
