Ferrymans Tavern Review

At the Ferrymans Tavern (Cape Town, South Africa) I ordered a delicious salad with the following ingredients: quinoa, chick peas, roasted butternut, rosa tomatoes, feta cheese, peppers, pumpkin seeds, mixed leaves, soy & mustard dressing.

To drink I ordered a virgin mojito which was made to perfection and it is available in regular and huge. Both food and drinks were fantastic!

The atmosphere was unparalleled. Everyone was having a good time and there was a good sense of merriment going around. Would definitely go visit them again!

Just love this old pub. Great selection of drinks and in the heart of the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

Last night we were at Ferrymans for a quick drink and chat with friends, seated upstairs for avoiding noise. And whilst sitting I noticed something rather large crawling on the couch near the bathroom but soon forgot as our drinks came and we continued chatting. A little while after I spotted something in my peripheral vision, lo and behold there is a rat! A very scruffy, large rat just hopping around, very relaxed. Now I understand the Waterfront is old and the harbor is right there, but mine is a health concern. Serving food and drinks while rats (and whatever other creatures) are rampantly running around like they own the place? No, thank you.

Lovely atmosphere. The food here is good. It's great for a dinner and drinks with friends. They have live music and lots of people which is a good weekend night out.

Nice pub n restaurant. PLENTY seating indoors and outside. Great staff

When I close my eyes and go to my happy place, you'll find me at Ferryman's. If you are in Cape Town once or often, no trip there is complete without a visit to this legendary tavern! Food, music, and vibe -- it's simply the best.

Food was very mediocre. Service was slow. Good location and if you're here for a few drinks you'll be happy but don't eat here if you can help it!

A nice place with occasional live music. Always a good atmosphere and smiley bar staff. Reasonably priced for the location.

Arrived at about midnight after a tour, very dirty and untidy. Pre tour we were supposed to meet there however staff were rude and uninformed making it an unpleasant experience.

Decent enough spot for a beer and pub grub. I'm just not a big fan of eateries in tourist spots. Prices are inflated and the service is average. As a local I only frequent Ferry's prior to events at the Cape Town Stadium.

Very slow service. I waited for north of 30 mins to be attended to and a further 20mins for my beer. Very sad experience. And the food is nothing to write home about.

A lovely selection of beer and a big outdoor area. The bar inside is a bit dingy buy outside is where you want to be.

Don't expect a 5 star experience here, but it has a great selection of beers, and decent food and a great atmosphere. The nachos are really good though as well as their seafood platter for two. The martini I ordered tasted really good, although they could have made some effort with the presentation.

This is my go to place at the V&A for lunch, dinner or just a few cold ones with mates. Awesome venue with views of the Waterfront. Most nights there is a band playing and the atmosphere is great! Their food is delicious and very well priced for where they are situated. Highly recommended!

Best place in the waterfront to have a beer with friends and family and listen to live music

Good food and casual place to sit out and have a bite. I ordered the fishermans plate and it came with wings, ribs, fillet of hake, calamari and potato fries. Would definitely go there again.

Tranquil restaurant/bar, not to loud to enjoy a meal and good company. If Thompson is still around, ask to be served by him. Awesome service. Quality affordable night out.

Nice informal place to eat. Service is okay but the vibe is lovely.

Got there late with clients at 0945 expecting kitchen to be shut but it stays open till 2300 so no problem. Decent platters of food but busy and noisy with lots of nicely tipsy people giving it plenty. Live music. Also I could be wrong but quite a few smartly dressed ladies on the lookout for the tourist dollar.....

Excellent beers thrown away. Very cheap and has entrance on both sides of the building. Very good music and sports matches. The attention of the staff is impeccable . Tables to share with other people, if you wish.

Good pub fun. Live music on selected nights. Good pub meals on offer. Without outdoor seating with over head coverings.

I'll give Ferrymans Tavern 5 stars for being a tavern and nothing more. It is authentic and special. I love the daily live music. Even though Ferrymans does serve food, there is no need to eat since they have about 18 options for beer on tap. Big yes from my side!

Its a nice chill out place with good food and live performances by local bands

Oh yes, this is one of the most, if not the most popular pub in the whole of the Waterfront. It has an old school kind of feel, it reminds you of being in England, lots of drinks to choose from and tasty food too. A regular spot for live music too with its stage outside. Recommended if you want to have fun and be a part of a good vibe.

The vibe of the place was good, the food was nice.
The live music being played was amazing, but very loud.
The day was busy so service wasn't great and it was extremely difficult flagging down a waiter for food and drinks.
