Security queue always a joke no matter what time you go. And they don't seem to care!

Me and my girlfriend were catching a flight to Frankfurt from there. The service was absolutely inadequate. There were signs for different areas just before Id check, but actually there was only one area. After the Id check, we we're in front of the gate. But there the confusion went to a new level - one line was closed, but even though people for the flight to Frankfurt were passing. No they weren't the priority ones. The access to the toilet was possible if you were able to crouch under the barrier.

At the moment it's a bit of a mare with all the construction going on. Let's see after. Headed there again today

It is a very nice modern airport with all the necessary services. You will find a post. A luggage packing service. All the necessary amenities. The shops are very nice and very well maintained. The staff is smiling. I was amazed by the speed with the baggage check and the professionalism of these people. There are bus lines that serve the nearest cities as well as a multitude of taxi all are very easy and almost everything is written in French and English

Small and modern Poor bus service on weekends on winter Saturdays.

I arrived in Portugal at this airport, i was out pretty quick. Good facilities and clean.
The bus service to town is slow and the bus gets packed, sometimes its just 1 bus doing the circular route. I recommend getting an Uber ride, costs about 6 into town.

Quite big enough and many cafe to drop by and wait for check in.
Free carts. Easy to find counter and toilet.

Great airport. Fairly clean. Functional but uninviting appearance.

Lack of organisation

Super fast security. Free WiFi. Seating area could be bigger.

The entrance and check-in area of the airport are actually new and ok. The shops and restaurant after the security are not that bad either. Problems start at the waiting area's and gates where its dark and packed with people. Hallways are small, its dark and all these parts did not get an update since the 80's I suppose.

Classic airport with all the services that a traveler may need.
It is clean, the information is clear.
Currently with COVID, it seems deserted.

Gastronomy is really very good and the prices are acceptable, the airport is still under renovation, so there are a few restrictions.
Baggage handling extremely fast on arrival.
But what is not acceptable is the queues for security check! We almost missed our flight and the security guards seemed very overwhelmed. When asked if we could still get our flight on time in the long queue, came only as an answer, no idea .....

Worst airport I ve ever been. Security control and checkin longs double than in any other places. At the and we were waiting in full sun In front of plane more than 15 minutes to come inside.

Landed and cleared baggage collection in just over 20 minutes

Not a good airport at all. Prices for everything are ture the roof. No smoking section past security

It took just over an hour to get to the passport control at immigration, not enough desks open and queueing badly organised

Something confusing, but it is still under construction, to this date.

Great modern airport. Lots of cafes and a large duty free shop

Small local airport. Taxis and minibuses in the direction of Faro directly in front of the building. Transfers to car rental from the P4 car park quickly and efficiently.

Virtually nothing to eat
The Burger King is only for non-Europeans. For the others, a poor cafeteria selling highway sandwiches for 10.
Take people for idiots

Renewed airport. Easy to arrive at and to leave from. Several car rentals agencies are now outside of the building, only 2 minutes walk with small pedestrian tunnel. For those renting a car during Summer season, it is recommended to avoid landing on Saturday. Otherwise, even if car agencies are well organized, you will have to spend time waiting for others to check their car out.

Most bike friendly airport I have ever been to and I have travelled with my bike for over 25years. Bike stands with tools to put together or take your bike a part. Even had some bike boxes available so you could pack you bike away to fly out. Excellent. Super impressed.

Very modern amd elegant airport which has to sltre a lot of passengers because of the popular destinations which is the south coast of Portugal

Construction is in progress so improvements coming soon. Current quite small but nothing specifically wrong with the airport. Definitely conveniently located if comparing to Lisbon.

Modern, spacious and clean (apart from the departure lounges which a dark and strange) small. Generally good special assistance ('My Way') staff both times I've been as a wheelchair user and my chair was not lost by this airport or its staff which is more than I can say for others. Quite expensive.

Easily accessible, parking in front of the door, small and friendly staff.

Yes, it still been expanded and not finished at all, yet they've managed to finish all the shopping area, yet not enough public space seats etc. Dreadful experience. Nowhere to sit, lots of fast food places, screaming children, dirty tables, absurd prices for food and drinks. Disgraceful.

Eternal waiting .... desolate organization at all levels

We were in Portugal in September.

The arrival area as well as the outside area is really very nice.

After the customs control there is another area with shops which is quite nice, but I give a minus point for the area at the gates. This is somehow bleak, you are in a separate room as if you were flying outside the EU. Here you can get something to eat or drink from the machine, otherwise it is essential to stock up beforehand as you can only go in the direction of the plane afterwards and cannot get out of the area.

Otherwise everything went very quickly, we were able to check in the suitcases quickly and hardly had to wait at customs.
Probably also because of the current situation.

All of the staff were very friendly.

The airport is clean and well organised but currently under expansion and can be noisy but I have never experienced any disruption from this factor.

Good price over ADAC booked, no Aufschwatzen of additional services, very friendly staff and fast handling at the return, Sixt in Faro highly recommended

People were either unhelpful or simply rude. Signposting is poor.
The only good thing about it was the fact that there were not too many people as it was off the season trip. Probably not the worst airport I have been to but definitely one of the bottom three.

Without doubt probably the most expensive airport in Europe. 10.95 for a tiny slice of pizza and a small coke. A water costs 3 minimum. Absolutely outrageous. Bring food with you.

Very nice airport. Good indications and even safety packs to buy with hydroalcoholic gel, mask and gloves. Too bad parking is so expensive. 4.50 euros for 40 minutes!

Just back from holiday and one thing that struck us as a family was the friendliness of the staff at the airport. In particular the welcoming smile and quips from the passport control staff, - makes a great first impression of Portugal for visitors- something other countries might think about learning from

After modernization it is really nice airport with a lot of space.

Small and efficient, everything is done immediately. Wonderful!

Construction projects take a long time, chances are that waiting times will increase

Seemingly continuously under construction.

In my experience the personnel are friendly and crack jokes while serving you.

The lines and the amount of construction can however make the experience overwhelming in a negative sense.

Our inbound transit through the airport was smooth and easy. Outbound; although it was busy and crowded, at no time was there a sense of it being out of control nor did it seem that those in charge were indifferent or uncaring some even found time to make small jokes or just put people at ease.

Small decent airport, renovation work was finished. Well the rental car offices are not sprawling. Security staff sleepy at 6.30am, long lines. But what excited me the most in the morning was a single Cafe Bistro Paul simple croissant 2.5 euro sandwiches 8 euro. Isn't that cheaper? Even in Athens it is cheaper to get a sandwich, we ate on the plane was cheaper.

Fairly small airport but with a lot of traffic, the shops are quite expensive inside ... Chez Paul, the croissant at 2.45 ... the good joke .. 3 packs of mnm's .. 16 ... .I don't even talk about duty free which is clearly not one ..... Hyper expensive.

The airport is under reconstruction, with very dirty toilets.
Nice and helpful staff.

Beware of GOLDCAR!When you are turn back,Goldcar preparing you small surprise...They charge min 50 Euro for cleaning fee(if your car is clean)....If your car is not clean you can see on your credit card crazy amounts!I heard another firms are same but be careful of GOLDCAR!!!

Good clean Airport and everyone's was wearing the required dace coverings

Queued 45 minutes to check in, once past the check in desk which is meant to lead to security we went back toward the front doors as that's where the security queue started! Queued there for another 40 minutes. Once through the queue at security 10 steps took us to an unmanaged sea of humanity that turned out to be the 35 minute "queue" for passport control. No staff anywhere to manage these queues, no barriers, after check in seen 5 staff members. 1 to scan a boarding card, 2 at our security gate, 2 at passport control looking at a loss as to what to do. As frequent flyer I visit many airports many times a year and this was the worst management of people I have seen in any airport on 5 continents from massive hubs to backwater warehouse airports. I just feel sorry for any family trying to get through. Sadly if your heading to the algarve you have no option but to fly here. Everyone panicking, people queue jumping everywhere, no staff providing directions, just awful!

The security can take up to 30 minutes. Far too little security positions. Too bad, because the airport is otherwise nice and pleasant

Small clear-cut airport. The staff speaks English and is helpful. Approximately 500 meters in front of the airport are numerous car rentals. The prices on site are relatively identical for all providers. We rented a Fiat 500 for 240 a week - with full insurance and all-round service.

Good structure. Ample parking. Safety. In short, everything that allows and desires on a trip, whether for business or pleasure.

Not good. Keep having to show passport and/or boarding pass at various stages. Airport can't cope when busy. Queues everywhere due to lack of logical thinking of how to keep traffic moving. A few good food options but all had massive queues. Costa staff work very slowly and charge 6 90 for two waters (35 minutes in queue to get them). They should install automated machines and pay someone to wipe them down. Temperature in airport very hot.

It's a small airport. Shops are all closed. Desolate.

The worst airport I've been using ever! No information, people working slow, bus not ready when boarding starts, poor duty free, ugly and dirty.

Everything until getting through security was ok but after security, the airport is not that good.
They also announced the gate for our flight but then didn't open the all the hallway doors. Everyone was stuck in a small corridor waiting for half an hour for the doors to open, it got quite hot as well...

Very clearly arranged for large numbers of low-cost flights. The check-in at Ttansavia went very quickly. The security check was impressively busy and extremely time-consuming!

Very nice and spacious airport, when it comes to check-in it went smoothly, it was worse to pick up luggage, it took a long time to appear on tape, they left the party in a few minutes intervals, at the end it turned out that few ran out and we had to the group waited until they found almost an hour. The airport itself is impressive, the building as well as the entire infrastructure around it look very modern and are very functional

Very quick and easy, a little better than when we arrived when we had bad experience at passport control of at least a 45 minute wait.

- dirty toilet
- Little choice of restaurants, almost only sandwiches and pastries
- no access to the food street with Burger King and Subway; only for passengers flying to Ireland, UK and Canada !!!
the facade is fine from the outside, but from the inside the airport is rather poetic; much is old-fashioned and shabby

Airport built on discrimination. Britons have separate gates and non-Britons cannot go to Burgerking. Because of this we had to buy more expensive fries with dry chicken. I was so looking forward to a good triple whopper.
