Love this place, love the atmosphere and love the staff. Excellent place to go with or without the family for recreation.
Love this place, love the atmosphere and love the staff. Excellent place to go with or without the family for recreation.
Great place to workout, learn about your health and enjoy conversations with others. The staff are friendly and helpful!
We visit for my son's swimming class...swimming coaches are very good and courses are reasonably priced..will definitely recommend.
My daughter and I have been members now for a few years. The camps that they offer for breaks and summer are amazing, and so well organized. My daughter loves the summer camp! We also have her in swim classes. She has learned so much since kindergarten, graduated all the classes and will be trying swim team next! Everyone has been so nice and helpful with any questions or concerns that I have. The classes that I personally taken have been great! Totally recommend the farmington family Ymca!
Very good swimming pool. I used gym for Kendo practice
Great facilities except men's locker room is too cramped
Warm pool water Very nice especially during the winter.
Nice friendly gym if you re on a budget and are looking somewhere to work out near the area. It has many activities and the staff is very friendly. Some improvements on the locker rooms would be great.
Prices are cheap, but place is pretty old, not competitive
The staff in this place are horrible and rude to customers.
They don't even know how to treat a good loyal customer.
2 months back i informed them at the office to cancel my Memebership and now after charging for 2 straight months of 94$, they are calling me back and telling me that i have to fill some dummy paperwork to cancel my membership. The person on the phone is so rude and don't even hear my concern. If you guys are thinking to choose this place for fun then beware there are people with Frauddd...
Just wish the pool area and locker room were more up to date. The whirlpool is not barrier free.
Friendly staff.
I am a professional magician and I was in town performing for a conference. This was a nice place to train and the staff was very friendly. Very clean also.
Playedd racquetball there for years and took fitbess classes. All I could have expected
The staff is a little slow on picking up the phone and it goes to voicemail
Great place for family activities. Has 2 pools, gym, basketball court, tracks, racquet ball, badminton, hot sauna, ping pong table and three rooms for activities such as Yoga, zumba, cross fit training etc. Friendly and helpful staff are a great positive. At $60 for one/ $80 for 2, its a little expensive if you go alone.. its great for a family.
It is sad. I have come to the conclusion that it is time to cancel our membership at the Farmington YMCA. My family and I have been members at this facility for 11 years. It has declined each year in cleanliness, adequate water aerobic instructors, life guards and the lists goes on and on..... Theft has increased in the locker rooms and the parking lot. There is no one to assist you when a problem occurs or if a problem does occur and you need assistance, the staff tells you they, " can't help you or do anything about it." The facility is old and needs many updates. The pools have ongoing problems with temperature issues. We are going to cancel our membership due to the many issues we have seen and faced as members. We will not recommend this facility.
I love the place. So do my kids. It can be a budget buster ($70+/mo.)for the family plan. But if you actual take advantage of the offerings, it could be well worth it. We haven't had one problem or concern in 2 years.
Been a member here for 15 years. It has its pluses and minuses. It is an older facility, but they have all the amenities and a nice child care
It is generally clean, but the fitness room gets more attention then the weight room. They have not maintained the equipment in the weight room , so it is showing a lot of wear.
They have a lot of programs , but since my kids are older they don't participate in them, however, or experience with them when they were young was good.
I don't really use the locker rooms, mostly because I don't bring anything in with me. This is also an offshoot of an ongoing theft problem that they have always had.
I can't speak to theft in other gyms, but I can tell you virtually every person I know, including my wife and one son, has had something stolen from here.
Does that make it a bad place, I don't know, theft happens everywhere, I just don't bring things in with me and the rest of the family uses locks, which they didn't always use before .
The location is pretty key, there aren't really any full service gyms, basketball, racquetball, swimming in the area, which is a factor in us staying. It is hard enough getting to the gym without tacking on an increase intravel time.
The staff is , for the most part , pretty good . Lack of WIFI is a pain
When my membership is up, I will not renew. The hours of operation are far too limited for a registered nurse working 12 hour shifts.
long time customer, only complain would be that the gym is occupied too often with other activities such as pickleball, volleyball, karate, gymnastics. there should be a different place for those things so the courts wouldn't be so crowded
Great place. They bought new equipment and remodeled the gym as well!
"Membership" employees are not very accommodating at all. They are very quick to sign you up and be slick about it but NOT helpful at all once you've signed that paper. Very discouraging since this is suppose to be community based. If I wanted to be billedb by a salesperson I would have done to lif&$#me.
Decent place to work out. There is a nice lap pool, and a smaller pool for kids. The fitness area and he weight room have been recently remodeled, and are both nice. Wish there was more free space for stretching and other workouts not involving machines. I would like to see more classes aimed at younger people.
Check this place out. its awesome and the staff is amazing. its great for swimming and working out. and also Moms & Dads, its a great place to take your child for the summer camps while your away at work or for swim lessons with them. and its cheaper then leading workout gyms that offer the same exact thing. stop by and check it out. peace out yo.
Been coming here since I was five from swim class to camp ki-ka-pu all the way up to the name change to camp michigama and I made some amazing friends and amazing memories here that ll last a lifetime and I also enjoy participating in the annual cipriano 5k run/walk every summer, it s my favorite 5k run/walk and it s for an amazing cause and it s a great tradition I made for myself and even tho I m currently not a member, I like to bike down there during the spring, fall and summer times just to hang and say hello to the people that Ik who work or worked there!:). The y will always have a special place in my heart!:).
There is No Steam room contrary to the staff saying yes there is one in the mens room. The YMCA is a great place here. Still if staff can not distinguish between a Steam Room and a Dry Sauna then perhaps the YMCA should list the amenities on the website in bold so they can study it right.
Good place, has alot of activities for kids and adults
Good place for family fitness. Specially for swimming.
The people are great BUT I understand they are taking out the sauna in the ladies locker room. the sauna is what I work out for!
I am very disappointed!
I love a ymca. We had a bday party here and it was a nice party space, the pool and the kids had a blast. Too bad they dont have a playground.
There are still too many people who disregard wearing their mask properly.
I really like the YMCA great place for kids to feel safe and play sports. They have a men's league for basketball did lots of racquetball courts at this YMCA. Pool is really nice the staff is very helpful.
Really friendly staff, but the whole place is aging poorly - Interesting Mid-century design, but lots of the facilities are worn out. The community needs this place, and it could use a little more attention and funding.
Nice facility and friendly staff but sometimes difficult to get information on youth activities. Basketball and Lego programs are great but suffer from low enrollment.
The trainers here is always upbeat, encouraging, and interested in your success. Recommended!
Worked here. Sanitation doesn't exist, management is disastrous, every room just seems so cramped, events organization is out of place, list goes on
I teach a yoga flow class there on Saturday mornings at 9:15. We all wear masks and are socially distanced. It's kept clean between each class.
Not the greatest gym in the world but it has the basics and some. They have a basketball court which is why I go. I have had my phone stolen here before and they don't have security cameras in the gym. There are also lots of kids but that comes with any YMCA. Other than the phone incident, the staff are very friendly and I enjoy coming here to play basketball.
My husband and I have been using this facility for over two years now and couldn't be happier. The only complaint is that they seem to have a problem keeping the air conditioning functioning properly. Some areas of the facility are warm and others are cooled (just not enough). For the most part, the staff is friendly and helpful. The Fitlinxx program helps us keep track of our workout routines and progress. Lately, we have been playing racquetball and enjoying that quite a bit. Since our membership (SilverSneakers) is provided as part of our supplemental health insurance, I can't speak to the issue of the dues. But, we certainly enjoy the convenience of this facility!
Has a good array of equipment. Like the indoor track.
Great gym. Clean. Really nice atmosphere. Never over crowded. Professional trainers
You better NITPICK every TRANSACTION otherwise you will lose time and money.
The daycare is good. The facility as a whole is a bit dated. I would be over the moon if they had a splash pad or zero depth pool but the 25meter lap pool is great when all the lanes are open. I seem to only go when water aerobics are in session. Those old ladies are not going anywhere and don't need 4 lanes. It would be fantastic if they offered towels in the locker rooms rather than the front desk.
This was my first time visiting the Farmington Family YMCA. We were there to participate in the Cipriano Classic in Farmington Hills for a 5K Fun Run & Walk. From what we saw on this trip, this facility is one of the nicest YMCAs we have been in. Its location is easy to access and parking is ample. The next time I come to the Detroit area I think it will be close to this facility as we would definitely be using the swimming pool.
The staff is attentive and friendly. The equipment is clean, always working and easy to use.
I love my Y so much. Staff is great, lots of fun classes, never too crowded.
Fantastic, friendly staff and top notch equipment. The building's a bit dated, but it doesn't bother me at all.
I like it but memberships are really expensive for how often I'd be able to actually use it!
Great place for family. They have training and support groups for working out swimming and basketball
I joined the Farmington YMCA this week and my family and I love it!! The membership service staff did an excellent job helping us.
Had my stuff stolen from a locked locker twice, some crusty older guy tried to pick a fight with me in the room with the treadmills. To avoid me having to knock out this suburban tough guy if/when he would overstep his bounds with me again, I then reported it to the front desk. Front desk was pretty much useless.
My family and I no longer attend there and we are better for it.
The pool had plenty of room for laps on the day I went.
Busy place with lots of swimmers and people here for classes.
We subscribed and cancelled after only one month when we discovered their ridiculous pricing policy.
The facility itself and the classes are nice; we enjoyed them for sure. What ruined it for us was to discover that our newly joined neighbor was paying much less than us for no specific reason.
After calling our representative, we were told that the prices are income based. Confused, we questioned again since they never asked for our income. Then we were told that when the rep presents a price, the final price you pay is based on how you react and that they may adjust the price. We must have reacted in the way to be overcharged. So basically, the price is negotiable and not income based.
On the spot pricing varying from person to person and day to day is tricky and unfair.
I actually suspect they give prices based on your look, representative or mood of the day. This does not work for us. We cancelled.
Best place ever! Made wonderful friends here. You can be your self...no judgement ever! Love this place...
My best friend when it's too cold to run outside! Like now!!!!
Friendly staff. 25m pool with 6 lane. Group fitness classes from early morning to late evening. Weight room with plenty of machines. If your new to the area and looking for a reasonably priced fitness center with lots of features then check out the Y.
Love all the group fitness classes here, they have recently been doing a lot of work upgrading the cardio room and the locker rooms and it shows!
Great place to workout!! There childcare while you workout is awesome!! Very friendly and helpful people work there.
lots of fights i do not allow my kids to go here by themselves to much riff raf
Ghetto gym built like a prison and the patrons here act like they are in prison only good thing is the pool
Not worth for money at all for Kid programs.. Yearly i'll spend around $5000 for my son programs but we don't have alternate option and hence my kid is continuing there.. Staff is very rude, no accountability to your credit card if you set up auto payment, No accountability for your filled in forms... Noticed no proper leader ship and accountability.
Very painful to get the tax statement for the year whatever you paid for your income tax Returns.. Rocket science for them to supply the Tax statements.
Came here for race registration for the Kona Cheesecake Run. Seems like a nice YMCA.
Great place for family bonding. Safe place for kids.
While the building may not be 'modern and new', all equipment you'll need to use for your workouts is well maintained. The recently remodeled weight and cardio exercise rooms look great. My only gripe is the locker rooms and showers that always smell damp like there's no air circulation.
My wife and I attended the 7 week (7 one hour classes) adult swimming lessons here and our experience has been great ! Greg is an incredibly patient instructor who has the absolute right approach to teaching you to swim - by helping you get around the mindset of fear of drowning. I'd highly recommend swim lessons here to people of all ages !
Go here all the time bunch of old people and black people its great
Outdated. Left my gear in big locker for 3 nights. Upon return my lock had been cut, gym attire & toiletries removed. Staff didn t know where my gear went. I found it men s locker room lost & found with toiletries & shoes missing. My buddy had an extra pair of shoes, unfortunately racquetball courts were too wet to play on. Terrible experience.
I wish I could give the Metro Detroit Y's a "0 Stars."
First of all, you will pay more for less a month at this place than any other fitness chain.
Second of all, they tell you that you have 30 days to cancel your contract, but really you have to "cancel" 30 days before your last scheduled draft, which pays for the last 30 days of your membership. So - you actually have to cancel 60 days in advance. This place cares way more about screwing you in order to make a buck than it does about its members.
Oh, and all its staff has a terrible attitude, not to mention all the personal trainers are fat (would you go to a mental health counselor that is schizo? then why go to a personal trainer who is overweight?). Try asking just a routine question about membership and they will give you circuitous answers and double-talk, with a side of attitude.
It's just a pathetic organization. Absolutely pathetic.
Nice place to recreation, clean and very friendly facility
We have been Y members for 13 years. Our children have grown up here from daycare to camp to school age childcare to swim team and karate and other sports activities. I love that they are comfortable at the Y, and that everyone knows them. The Y does what they set out to do - build a stronger community through the activities it offers. My kids are definitely stronger for being a part of the Y all these years.
