Extreme Edge (climbing gym) Review

Expect loads of fun, family friendly, different grades for different fitness level , good training as well.

I have been here twice with friends. I had to get induction done and trained to be on belay and climb. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and patient. The experience has been good. They rent shoes and harnesses too. And there s a quite a bit of different stuff for everyone there, depending on their level of climbing experience. Definitely good for indoor and would highly recommend! :) Cheers

Awesome climbing gym, there's a really dedicated team of climbers staffing it. A great place just to have fun with the family, or to train hard for your next outdoor adventure. There's a great variety of bouldering problems, top ropes and lead climbs for all skill levels.

Great range of indoor walls and even better a awesome seperate kids area. It's only down fall is the lack of ventilation. Definitely needs to be sorted

Cool place for.kids if you are looking for something different. Playground is fun even if your kids dont climb. Cost is about the same.as taking them to.any other inside playground. What I don't enjoy is that there is no place for parents to sit while the kids burn energy.

Best rock climbing in Auckland. Plenty of walls for kids and pros.

I really like the massive playground they have at the back. the little ones can explore for hours for $10! The best part is they are constantly improving. I see more areas open each time we visit, while the existing area have slight modification as well. nicely designed for the little adventurers.

A long way off the great climbing gyms that exist in other parts of the world.

Extreme edge rock climbing is awesome! It's a great place to go if you want a bit of a challenge or maybe if you are looking for somewhere a bit differant yet still fun and engaging for a date with that special someone in your life. Theres something for everyone there kids walls, beginner walls then going up to expert. They teach you there how to use the equipment and then the times your own. Great place you'll def constantly find me hanging around here haha.

This gym is quite large and offers a variety of climbs for people of all experience levels. The staff are friendly and happy to help.

Great spot for some climbing! Has a lot of different grades from kids to advanced lead climbing etc. Most of the time not too busy except some week day evenings.

Great place for all ages! There are two types: Auto belayed which you can climb by your ome ans Parner belayed which you need another partner to hold you. Good for kids as well. I am sure my daughter will like it.definitely come back

For a beginner, this was great fun. Plenty of walls to choose from, including auto belay walls to get started on. Training from the staff member was very good then we could move onto the more challenging walls. Allow a few hours for your first time. Also would like to see a cafe in there so you could have lunch/break and continue climbing.

Great facility, horrible parking. Suggest planning ahead and arriving earlier than intended so that you can get parking out of the way. Once you're inside its all good. It can be crowded at times so don't be on a tight schedule.

Great place to climb. Lots of options and the walls change often enough you dont get bored but stick around long enough to get good at them

I disliked waiting for half an hour to learn the "new" belay rules. There were plenty of 'free' instructors who could have shown us right there and then instead of pacing around like the police; they weren't even that busy! and on top of that we had a very blunt young lady teaching us in her abrupt manner. Being a teacher, you need to have kindness and care. This girl was rude and in the end after 3 practises on the belay told me that it was up to her if I was allowed to do it or not. Admittedly i was having to belay very fast to keep up with my very experienced rock climbing son but I've done this job on and off for him over the past two years (when the belay was allowed to go over the shoulder - which by the way, is much easier) then to be told by this larger than life, non-compassionate girl that it was up to her.....Thanks little girl, you spoiled the last day of our holidays together as a family.

Probably fun for the kids but could do better for the rest

Climbed here for my first time today! Amazing place, great routes, lots of routes, lots of variety, and it seems like they update them really often!

Very busy on a wet Sunday afternoon. Great for kids of all ages but most will need a good high reach.

Fantastic place for kids from page 4 and up. Lots of ranges of climbing walls, and a general play area as well. Space for private functions available.

The best indoor climbing gym in NZ. On a rainy weekend in Auckland, Extreme Edge is an awesome way of getting some exercise.

Pretty cool place to kill an afternoon. Entrance, all the equipment rental, introductory lesson (free) came out to less than $60 for 2 adults.

Lots of climbs ranging from beginner to expert. great time and a great workout.

Good variety for the under 12s.. Unfortunately, being a reasonably competent climber from the UK, this place was a throwback to the late 90s! Archaic holds that obviously don't get changed very often. Strange top roping set up that envolves using a fixed grigri in a manner it wasn't really designed for.. If transferred outdoors, this technique would probably cause the leader to be dropped.. Shows what lack of competition does to a city!

If you haven't been before, be prepared to spend the first 10 mins filling out waiver forms on an ipad. And their kids section is for 9 and under.

Its massive and love how there is different areas for all people.

Fantastic climbing centre. There are challenges for all level, from little tots to more experienced climbers. All walls have torque controlled safety ropes, which allows for young climbers to gain experience through making mistakes and for any slips on the older ones. The facility is busy, very busy so be prepared to wait for some walls. There is a shop and a soft play area, so if you're struggling for something to do with the kids, consider taking them for an afternoon out. For birthday parties this place is perfect. Be aware that anyone under the age of 14 years old will need to be supervised.

Awesome venue for all age groups, but we attended a birthday and great facility for this type of event. The kids just loved it. Highly recommend

Rubbish bouldering areas. Could do with more slabs and fewer overhangs. Holds were pretty poorly laid out and needs more mattresses to cover length of route- you can't just hop off to move the mattress midway!

Great place for kids and adults. Can get a bit hot inside the warehouse like building so carry some water etc. So many climbing options you won't be disappointed. Also has adventure cove, place for small kids to run around a maze of really cool caves and slides etc.

Awesome for kids and adults alike my only concern is the stuffy heatwave coming, summer is going to be extremely Hot also needs intercom system for when you lose a child otherwise great place to burn and strengthen the muscles..

The kids love this place but its not the best place when its extremely packed. Would be nice if there were more spaces for sitting while watching your kids climb. The layout couldve been designed better. All the walls are crammed next to each other and you are almost walking in to children and adults each corner you turn.

Great time had by the kids. 4 and 6 are good ages to build their confidence.

Coolest place to take the kids. Huge playground with tons of walls to climb. They allow you to bring your own snacks and drinks. We usually spend anything from 4 - 6 hours here and our girls love it.

Really good fun for the kids and adults. Good indoor climbing facilities that caters for kids and adults.

I went there with two 4 year olds. We had a great time. Generally, children want to go home after a while. But here it was not the case. They had fun on the toboggans as well as climbing. I was afraid they would be too young. And although it was difficult for them to climb most surfaces, they managed to reach the summit a few times. So do not hesitate to go but this place will be even more fun if your child is between 6 and 10-11 years old.

Great for adults and children. Safe and lots of fun.
These is great for birthday parties, tables can be hired and there are people trained to explain how equipment is used.

Very large and extensive range of climbing. Good for all skill levels.
