The Exploratorium was the highlight of a recent San Francisco. Another reviewer mentioned the Tactile Dome costing $10, but I was there last week, and the price listed was $15 per adult. Maybe there's been a recent increase?

I very much appreciated the presence of lockers (only 50 cents to rent one all day), not having to schlep my stuff between exhibits made things a whole lot easier. You can come in and out throughout the day (just be sure to have your hand stamped), and it seems like a lot of the class field trips tend to pack up and go in the early afternoon hours.

The exploratorium is awesome, it's for everyone there are a little ones every where going crazy on all the exhibits but it's still really cool you learn a lot I loved it. If you're visiting or you live here and haven't been I definitely recommend it. You get a great view of the bay bridge and the bay it's awesome!

This place is brilliant. I will come back multiple times. The exhibits are more interesting and better quality than any government funded science centre I've ever been to and I've been to dozens. The "science" is great for adults and enough exhibits to keep kids busy for days. The "light and visual" section is outstanding.

If you're the type of parent that lets your child run around and act ferral--this is your ideal place. There is no supervision whatsoever. People have no consideration and believe they're the only ones on the premise. Be ready to have to argue with others so either you, or your child get a chance to explore the exhibitions. Take a Motrin, Tylenol, whatever you want to avoid the guaranteed headache you'll get once you step in into this zoo!

Fun hands on science museum. Difficult to understand family membership. Discouraged putting two adults on family membership, so the named adult always had to be in attendance. Weird.

Very fun place to visit with maybe hundreds of small exhibits, but a terrible place to go on national holidays. Nice gift shop and a nice view of the bay. When I went it closed at 5, which was pretty early for me. Coolest part was seeing the workshop where all the exhibits are built, which the public is free to look at. Very expensive food.

The target audience for this museum is definitely kids but still fun to visit as an adult. The focus is interactive exhibits that teach various scientific facts.
The layout and style makes it fun since everything feels very industrial. It's packed on weekends and parking is challenge but tickets are fairly cheap given the amount of things to see.

Not a tremendous amount of re-visit value. If you go here once, probably not worth going again for a while. Overall though a fun a fun experience.

This place is fantastic. We spent 3 hours there and went back after going to Alcatraz. Till they sent us out. Three building manager was great. Got an additional tour... this was fun for kids and adults.

The kids had a fun time yet didn't really seem to care why things did what they did. Not sure if this was due to age (1st graders) or if it would be better as a one on one so that you can focus on individual interest instead of worrying about corralling the ones that slipped off.

Went to the exploratorium with my wife and 4 y/o, it was fantastic. Highly recommend for older children or if your child is science minded like mine. He could have spend another 3 days there if he could, worth going multiple times if you live in the area. Not sure if it would be great for younger toddlers.

If you could study phisics and matemathics here, everibody will love science. A place where you can learn playing. In my opinion for children between 5/6 and 100 yo.

The most interactive, yet simple to understand museum/exhibit space I have been to. Been here once in the day, and once for After Dark, and both times delivered on quality science fun!

Got tickets to the Tactile Dome, but was admittedly too distracted by magnets to make it there before closing time... Would have probably made my experience even more memorable.

Very interesting "museum". Apparently, Oppenheimer wanted it to be called an "exploratorium" and not a "museum". Perfect for school-age children to pique their curiosity and interest in science. Divided into 6 exhibition sections and I would say, it takes at least 3 hours to briefly browse through everything. Will take longer if you want to try everything. All explanations in English. Very interactive and interesting. Can get busy with kids running and laughing everywhere. Did this as part of SF City Pass.

This is a fantastic place. Its not quite a museum as its more about experimental science. It would be easy to spend a whole day here, and I wish we'd had more time. We really enjoyed our time here and spent a lot of time going through half of the place, not even realizing just how much was left. I would recommended this for anyone with kids and even if you don't have kids. There's neat things to check out outside.

So much fun for science lovers. This is a museum of science, but everything can be touched and played. Suitable for young people (should be 5 years +) and adults who like science, physics, engineering and biology, should give at least half a day

Amazing interactive museum. Great for kids and even adults, where you can see and interact with simple laws about physics, biology and chemistry and get introduced to them through every single activity.

It's lost some of the charm from is old location, but it's still worth the visit. Depending on the age of your children your may want to skip some of the beginning kiosks and get to the juicy stuff with electricity and magnetism. If you look close you'll find some if your favorite old exhibits.
