Exploration Place, The Sedgwick County Science and Discovery Center Review

Very engaging for all ages. If I'm ever here again it will be on the list to visit.

Soooooooo many things for the grandbabies to do, we bought them a family pass for a year.

Great place to come with the kids. A little pricy but lots of educational fun

Love the aviation section although they should in lose the flight simulator there so you can see the screen better while flying

Always a fun experience!!! Exhibits change frequently enough to keep it a new experience each time, and favorites are kept as well. Friendly and helpful staff!

I am learning new things and EXPLORING the future and the past.I love the Dome its the freshest thing I've ever seen.

A great place to take kids of all ages. They have an area for kids 5 and under that looks like a lot of fun. The castle is always a hit. Lots of fun things to do throughout.

Nice little museum. Most of the exibits stay the same with one area that changes out every couple months to an exhibit that moves around the country. Good for a few visits a year. Lots of areas for people of all ages.

Great. If youve been to LA exposition park and loved the science center...youll love this!

We love it at Exploration Place! The yearly membership is totally worth the price. There is a movie theater, mini golf, and rotating exhibits. The permanent exhibit includes flight, building, and a prairie exhibit. My kids (9-11) love it.

Great place to take kids to teach them about science in a fun and interactive way.

My 19month old daughter Loves the kids connection area for kids 5 & under. She gets to play & meet other kids her age. The toys in the little kids area are clean & well kept. I've seen employees check & clean the little kids area when we are there. It's nice to know it's checked on more than once a day. They even have a basket for toys that need to be cleaned. The other areas are not as much fun for her yet, but that will come in time as she grows.

Very cool place to visit for kids as well as for Adults. Lots to do and very much worth the low cost to get in.

We really enjoyed the new Design, Build, Fly exhibit. Definitely an excellent family fun activity for all ages.

We have a membership here and it s well worth the money! Endless hours of entertainment for my two year old and his father and I always have a great time too! Friendly staff, awesome exhibits!

It was ok. Would be great with smaller kids. Also they need to make sure they don't over sell the dome movie. There was no room to sit.

There are lots of neat exhibits here but for a Saturday afternoon it did not seem like there was nearly enough staff. Tons of rowdy kids running and screaming everywhere with no adult supervision. I was so irritated after the 12th time my toddler was nearly bowled over that we left. At least I was using a reciprocal membership from St Louis Science Center and didn't have to pay. We are at museums and zoos weekly and I've never seen this anywhere else.

Very good. End always they have interesting exhibitions.

I love Exploration Place! They always have new exhibits and are currently upgrading their kid zone which has a medieval castle for the kids to play in. My kids want to go all the time just to play in the castle, awesome place especially when it's too hot for the park

Having kids is what makes the Exploration Place worth it. Occasionally they have more adult oriented displays come around, but more often they're kid friendly while being technical enough to account for the adults in attendance. If you have younger kids, they have some awesome play areas for kids of all ages. If you live close, a membership is definitely worth it.

Great place to take the children. They can learn a lot about the Wichita aviation industry & a lot about Kansas all the way around. My favorite is Kansas in Miniature.

If you have a little one with excess energy this is a must! My family and I really enjoyed our time at the Exploration Place! If we lived near Wichita we'd probably buy a season pass. We found the exhibits engaging for our three year old and inforaive for us. I especially liked the aviation exhibit and my daughter really enjoyed the presentation on air pressure.

The kiddos had a great time at the summer camps offered at Exploration Place.

Man this place is anazing. Kids lived it and so much to do and see. Plus when you get a membership you get even more places and huge discounts on other fun stuff to do

Kids Connection section is a great area for young children, it says 5 and under but I think it should be 3 and under and they should have someone watching because older kids come in and trample the little kids. it's fun over all just very loud.

My 3 year old daughter and I had a very good time here.

The guitar place was fascinating and so was the aviation museum. I just hoped there was more to see.

We recently visited to view the rock n roll exhibit. Kids had a wonderful time. Everything was clean and areas were periodically shut down while we were there for sanitizing. Much appreciated!

We absolutely loved it. It s a great place for children of all ages.

It's good science center for kids 2 to 12ish. We have yet to ever do the planetarium or theatre cause we are too busy doing all the interactive exhibits. A great place to take the kids on rainy day.

Pretty standard kids science museum.... If you are in the area and have a family just makes sense to get the membership

Kids loved it. Great exhibits. Some areas need better maintenance and repair.

This is a cool place to take kids but they just don't seem to change the exhibits enough.. I do however recommend the Boeing cyberdome shows very fun.. The exhibits have gotten much larger and have changed more often. This is just an awesome place to take children and I highly recommend.

I used to take my daughter, then my grandchildren now approaching 20, now I have a new granddaughter almost 5 who thought it more fun than all the many places she has near her home in Boston!

By now, I think most of us know what the Exploration Place has to offer--highly interactive exhibits, some permanent, others limited; educational movies; science shows; etc. But a recent experience truly impressed me. This summer, I worked with students with Down Syndrome. The Exploration Place opened early for us so we could do some science experiments with our students before going to the museum when it opened at 10. The staff was more than kind and accommodating, and put our minds at ease. The experience was great!

I cannot say enough good about this museum. The size is perfect to get it all in in one trip. I'm a member and have appreciated the perks of that. Very reasonable yearly membership. I home school my high school daughter. The two hour science class once a month is so great. They not only have a mini auditorium for the students. But, two separate lab rooms. They divide by age. The staff who teaches these classes are extremely smart and friendly with everyone. Top notch staff here.

We threw my daughters 1st birthday here. Paid crazy prices for people who didn't know what they were doing.. weven will never go here again.

Our kids absolutely love it here. Good for 3 hours of energy burning, brain building fun.

An awesome museum for kids. The hours of service are good, I personally think it could be open until 7pm during summer time.
The extra activities for the kids are always good and lower cost. So much to see and do!

The small childrens should be monitored closer as there were rogue older children jumping the babies in the baby pit!! Great Place to explore!!

Always enjoy visiting and seeing the newest traveling exhibit and the Kansas in Miniature permanent exhibit. Something for most ages.

Some of the travelling exhibits like the current one don't completely live up to the hype for adults but still somewhat interesting to see the history and science behind the heroes.

The TARDIS, Batman statue, Superman and batmobile replica were to me the coolest in the Hall of Heroes. I like this Wichita museum.

Was great fun for the kids. Yet, So many children running wild. Almost like a Nerdy Chucky cheese

Pure, 100%, hands on interaction. You don't even realize you are learning details & skills. You can't adequately experience everything in one day; there is so much to do. There are also several different age appropriate areas so if you have a wide range of children, there is a place that all age groups will be entertained (plus, in the areas that a parent wouldn't want to climb or walk up to, they have CCTV so you can still have your eyes on them). The Dome theater was an amazing experience as well.
The ticket price is a great deal.
I am recommending this place to everyone!

Excellent hands-on experience. I would describe it as a hands-on science museum. Well worth the time and money.

We went today on the 6th for my granddaughter's birthday , three adults and two children. we went particularly for the weather event . the main weather storm room was not working . it's so sad that we could not have seen this on the website before we went. we would have waited till it was up and running again. we wasted quite a bit of money for not getting a full experience of the new exhibit.

At exploration place I learned:

1. fire flies are actually beetles.
2. I hate children.

Wonderful exhibits for both education and fun. My daughter had a blast, and if we are in Wichita again, I can't wait to return.
