Exploration Place, The Sedgwick County Science and Discovery Center Review

Could have literary been there all day. The kids loved it and I learned a thing or two as well. The only thing that bothered me was when the adults left the gate open in the kids area as they were leaving or entering. Obviously there is a gate there for a reason!! I kept having to close it.

A fun experience with interactive exhibits and engaging information stations. The exhibits change every so often and there are some exceptionally fun events at times. Also has a wonderful gift shop with many nifty little treasures. There's a theatre there as well. All in all a beautiful place to explore at your own pace or the pace of your kids if you're bringing them!

It's a fascinating place. Excellent for kids and families.

This was a wonderful place to spend the day at in Wichita. Tons of educational activities and it keeps children entertained for hours! There is plenty of seating for adults scattered throughout. The castle play area has video cameras inside the castle so you never lose sight of your child. We even enjoyed the gift shop. Really really fun! The landscape and building were gorgeous! Everything looks brand new.

Loved the traveling shark exhibit, and all the newer exhibits that they have made or redone..fun time for the whole family

Grand boys and I have visited several times this summer, we have a family pass, they love playing in the castle.

Update~ Still live this place! I live taking the kids and learning things with them or going on missions and such. They love it also and it is quality family time! love this place. There's fun for all ages! I like learning new things when we go. Plus, with membership, you can go to other science museums

Great place to take the kids of all ages. We had a 2 1/2 yr old toddler and a teenager and both loved it!

This was such a fun place. Our kids (ages 5, 4, and 2) loved it. We spent a couple of hours there and only did a few exhibits. We are glad we bought the membership so we can go back and do more things. There so many things for them to learn and explore.

My kids have fun there. I think there needs to be a little more on going maintenance within the activity areas. But the new aviation area is definitely top notch. Just go before everything is broke and dirty.

After our monthly 4 hour trip to Wichita, we have enjoyed having a place for my son to burn energy and work his mind before retiring to the hotel.

A great educational venue where learning is fun. Definitely geared more for kids, most things adults would enjoy too. Do wish that there were more things for adults as we enjoy learning and exploring too.

My kids where entertained, didn't see the whole area but I know it's better if you get a membership to get your money's worth.

What a great place for children of all ages. Not only do they have fun but they also learn. Mask is required to enter and they check your temperature. There is a hand sanitaizer at every corner. Very clean and safe.

Always enjoy the exhibits and events. The staff and volunteers are always helpful and knowledgeable. Every time I go there is something new to discover.

My all time favorite exhibit is the miniature town. Great job Exploration Place.

Very fun. Makes me miss being a kid. They have a lot of social interaction props. You can dig for fossils. Be inside a tornado. And fly airplanes. I won't spoil everything but definitely a must go for anyone visiting Wichita. I do however wish they had better dome showings. Some are very awesome but most lack.

My 3 year old daughter really enjoys this place. Her favorite locations are the Medieval play castle and the young explorers room. The explorers room is great if you have very young children because it's and enclosed space that is safe and you don't need to worry as much about your child getting away. The castle is great but does require a little more supervision. It's clearly meant for older children.

All in all a great time was had.

Great place for kids to learn and have fun playing.

I went with my kids and my service dog. Upon entering, a female employee began harassing me about the dog, asking inappropriate questions and dictating how I had to treat my dog and avoid other guests. I was just trying to spend a nice day out with my family, not get harassed for my disability.

We went to the shark exhibit. We were disappointed that the movie in the dome was playing for another week. We felt they should of started the same day. We would of waited to see the exhibit if we had known

Took my girlfriend and her 2 kids here for the first time. Everyone enjoyed the variety of things to do throughout the visit. Airplanes, sharks, renaissance castle, and a mini kansas display were highlights for everyone. It was very enjoyable and worth going back to!

My husband and I went there for a date. We had a lot of fun till we went minature golfing. The course was dirty and worn, we quit after hole 5.
Over all this was a great place and I would go again.

My daughter and I go to the Exploration place every week we absolutely love it!!

Membership is a worthwhile investment. They have an adequate amount of diversity in their displays. A fun place to go on a rainy or cold day.

Super Neat! Wish some of the equipment was down.. Like the flight simulation!

We went on a school trip & let's just say there was not enough hours in the day to explore the whole place!

Maybe fun for older kids but, it was a waste of money to me. Older kids were just running wild and almost knocked or hit into my 2 year old many times. The place didn't have much to see or do. Mostly puppet show areas, slides and puzzles. They did have a dedicated spot with a slide and some blocks and stuff, for children 5 and under to play in but, kids kept coming in that were older than 5 so we had the same issue in there. My daughter did enjoy the slide but, I felt we could've had more fun at a park, for free. For $12.50 a ticket it just wasn't that great for us.

The building's architecture is world-class. But, Exploration Place lacks the necessary attractions inside to stand out.

Almost none of the games worked. And the place is dirty.

Love this place. My kids love this place. They have a whole miniature city. Fresh.

We had a blast and at this time they were having the kids decorate gingerbread houses for free with admission

There's so much for kids to do. On Sundays there are community vendors for hands on for kids to explore even more science. I stayed there for 5 hrs and there was so much more still to explore. It's worth getting a family membership. The staff is super friendly!

So much to see and to do, for kids and adults alike! We enjoy coming often.

The Ripley's or not exhibit was good, but there have been better ones that I've enjoyed morr.

Dropped in for the gift shop for my kids before heading back home. Gift shop did not open until 12 and my flight departed at 12:30 that day. They graciously opened the gift shop for me so I could grab a couple small trinkets and souvenirs. Made my day and made my kids' day to get present from daddy's trip. They love that shark puppet!

The exploration place always has events going on. I mostly go with my daughter for her girl scout badge earning classes. They make learning fun. We always have a great time.

A nerdy kid's (and parent's) dream: modern, cool, fun, and highly educational for children.

Went here with a girlfriend as a date, and I'd definitely recommend others do the same. The place is obviously geared towards children, but its fun regardless. It's a unique activity for the cost of a movie

There is something for every age here. Well worth the membership price. My kids love it, and the traveling exhibits keep it interesting over the long haul. I enjoy the exhibits, too. .

Recently got a family membership to take my toddler and he absolutely loves it. Such creative and educational play, and it s so nice to have somewhere indoors to get out of the heat and elements.

Was Awesome time with the family. We had all age groups and there was something for everyone!

My family has come here a couple times now and we enjoy spending the whole day here. The airplane exhibit is our favorite and really interactive and so much fun for kids and adults. At first I wasn t sure if my toddler would be too small to enjoy the exhibits but she had an absolute blast and was able to fully participate in most of the exhibits. Exploration Place is so much fun!

Place sux. Never changes. Good for one visit only. When they get something new you best grab your ass & get ready to shell out the $$$.

This science education center is good, but like almost all of them, caters mostly to children.

Very cool place to take young ones. It is a little small though so it is not something that you can spend all day at.

Different stuff always going on there. Not always good but sometimes decent

Always a blast with the kids. They usually have really interesting and unique limited time only exhibits, everything from science to fun pop culture stuff. My absolute favorite was the spy exhibit. We did the yearly family pass because my son loved the permanent medieval kingdom exhibit so much. During the Summer heat we would escape there for a few hours pretty regularly. They also do the Maker Fair each year which showcase local makers which is amazing.

This museum offers a variety of different learning experiences, including sensory. They often bring in different learning exhibits throughout the year. This site is also a very interesting venue for a variety of events.

I was in the event center, not the museum, but I would recommend hosting an event here any day. Great views, wonderful staff.

Was there most of the day. The exhibits kept the grandkids entertained and occupied the whole day. Everyone had a good time.

Had my son here from Alabama with his family and they loved it! He was as much a kid as his 2 year old daughter!

Great place for kids. I wish they had better crafts. Everytime I've gone (4 times in the last year and a half) its always been the same airplane pipe cleaner craft. Sometimes the moving exhibits are a bit hard for 5 years-7 otherwise great. I love the views from the windows. The water and vet room.

A nice educational experience for the kids. I love that the wind tunnel was free. The view of the river adds to the experience.

The activities are awesome, for all the ages, you can have a lot of fun enjoying the time with all your family
