I joined EA in April 2018 . It was going through first real job in 17 years and my outlook and methods were clearly 20th century. EA was a tremendous help in getting me updated, from CV write-up to interview techniques, including the use of certain key phrases recruiters like to hear. Of particular help was Jobscan. Once I got my CV updated to the EA standards and I started using Jobscan, I started getting a lot more hits and interviews.
What was capital in getting my new position wasn't so much marketing letters, although I did write a few and always got a positive response. What did it was following one of the counselor's advice to "send your CV!" The job I finally got, I applied to as an afterthought. The posting on Indeed had been there for some time (at least 6 weeks and probably more), but the description was so simplistic that I had passed over it. Little did I know that my dream job was hiding behind that simple posting. On a slow posting day, I followed the counselor's advice and sent my CV, duly checked and tailored using Jobscan.
It would be nearly a month before I got a return call. Less than 24 hours after the first interview, I got an email requesting references and availabilities for a second interview, this time with company executives, Here again, my counselor proved invaluable. We went through potential questions he believed they would ask and practiced answers and key phrases to use. A few days after that interview (the longest 6 days of my life!), they made me a fantastic offer.
I would like to thank the entire EA team for doing a fantastic job. What an amazing organization and what great people! A special thank you to my counselor for having been not only a great job counselor, but occasional psychologist and father figure. He kept me moving in the right direction and picked me up the times I was down. The work being done by the people at EA is pertinent and important, from teaching the ins and outs of job searching to writing marketing letters to networking. Although I managed to find my position on my own, I strongly believe in networking and will keep in touch with the people I have met at EA, many of whom I now consider friends.
On behalf of my entire family, a big thank you for having helped us find a new sense of security.
